A few Purple Urkles

Hey Gro I just watered this morning. I have them under 3 shoplights. About 240 watts I guess. They seem to be starting to grow.

dwc,...i avoid soil like the plague....
usually ill run 5 gallon buckets with 5" netpots filled with a rockwool 3" cube core and the rest rockwool croutons,..then about an inch of hydroton on the top for algae control.,...i run a feeder line up to top so it recycles using a 200gph pump that runs 24/7 and lots of O2,..the erkle seems to like massive doses of N during veg and requires an almost daily pruning of leaves or else the canopy will be so thick that nothing under it will develop nug wise.....also...because its so dense u may find yourself giveng the erkle wind burn from your fans,...the need really good air circ or they slow down dramatically....it can overcrowd itself...

Hey Jello how do you think urkle will perform outside in a Greehouse?

Any thoughts?

well,..i havent tried in greenhouse,...but from what ive seen of friends with GH's is that they get alot more purple, less dense, and lose alot of quality,...but that is probably the grower and not the strain so much....
when grown outdoors i see it typically get about 4-7 feet at the end of season and always at least as wide as it is tall....yields are quite subpar for erkle of any size(not terrible,..but commercial growers wont tolerate it),...but thats just the erkle,...its always a low yielder when compared to many other indicas,...thats why most people switched over to the GDP, but the GDP aint got nothing on the erkle when it comes down to quality....all in all ill bet it would be right at home in a greenhouse

for potency i would rate the erkle EXTREMELY high, and its a fun plant to grow
if u can manage to cure it about 3-4 months watch out! odor control is also highly advised with this strain,...

Right on Thanks Jello. I am planning on making a run with her this summer in my GH. Watch for my thread and give me any advice you can.

Thanks

Hey GroNut I thought you were a hydro guy, man Ive been blazin too much lately I think.

I just read the rest of the post that I quoted, and I have to completely (respectfully  ) disagree with Jello on the yield of the urk. I just pulled 7 ounces from a single plant in just a tad over 60 days TOTAL (~2 weeks veg, 45-50 days flo). I had one cola weigh in at over 30 grams dry. The urk is no slouch in terms of anything that makes a good herb, IMO.

No, no, keep blazin haha :joint: I am a hydro guy but whenever I get a new strain to play with I'll run the one or two (or 6 hehe) plants in soil first for the ease and convenience. If it looks like a winner I'll commit to a full hydro run with it. I will be doing a run soon with urkle, erkle, urple...whateveryawannacallit in a coco/hydroton mix in top feed buckets. I think I'll see some faster veg that way too. I really dig this plant.

7 zips, 60 days! :yoinks: Sure you don't have a gdp on yer hands? Wow that's a good haul.

GCG, I think the urk is gonna rock in the greenhouse for sure.

well,...most ive been able to get from the erkle so far was a tad over 1lbs from a 1kwatter in 90 days start to finish,...that was from 2 plants combined under the lamp,...whereas 2x ATF under the other light raked in about an ounce over 2lbs...the erkle isnt terrible yield,...just not for the commercial growers is all....and u should really let it get a full 8 weeks as well,...if u let it over ripen it will have a tendancy to darken up with LOTS of purple(if yer temps are cool),...i always pick my erkle between end of week 8 and before week 10 can start...its been consistent in mature times for over a year...goin on 2 years soon actually.....and have never seen it fully ready in 7 weeks,...but i tend to wait for at least half amber trichs on just about all flavors....
