I had two 45's last year. I ran into trouble sometime in August. I assumed they were rootbound,mounded some soil around them and they snapped out of it. Hope they keep cruisin' they look good.

I am going to piggy back of what Calidude said, and assume you feed the heck out of those 45 gal pots. My question for you is, is it cheaper/better to have less soil and spend more on nutes or the other way around? I would think after a couple seasons the soil would pay off?

I feed them once a week. Not that much really.
They are root bound and started to flower early.
Hopefully End of September harvest!

i have the same problem with rootbound. I think that might explain why my plant( iced grape frit) flowered as early as mid july and basically stopped growing. they are now yellowing even throughout.

:rainbow grow, bat guanos, humouldt verde, house and garden, fish, and cal mag.

Calidude your havin a Calcium deficincy get some cal mag.

I'm not sure the answer.
Its an endless growing strategy debate.
If you want big plants you need root space.

soil pays for its self after one season.
I have spent that much on nutrients.
I'm sure I spent more on the 800's

The big pots are more forgiving, they can go days with out water and it seems hard to over fertilize them.

The plants are way bigger in the 800's.

These are some big plants for small pots. Bigger than what I expected.

You just have to be on you game to keep the small pots going.

800's are totally worth it , the plants like the extra space and available energy. comparing a 400 gallon pot to an 800, the extra 400 gallons of soil only costs maybe 300-400 dollars. It only takes a few ounces more in final yield to make up for that.

Mendo you are crushing it. Will you be making seeds available for next year? what is your favorite plant in the garden right now?
