do you like leds

do you like leds

Are leds efficient to run for growing, i know lumes/watt isn't the best. What should the watts per square foot be.

Yo man..
They use LED lights to grow plants in the I.S.S (International Space Station).. They are Efficent as you can get..Just the lumans per watt are medium, like per 20w the led's are around 800.. And there are 2700k to 6500k spectum...Ahh...

Anyone remember the game lightBrite where you put different color pegs in the board and made trippy pictures :sasmokin: ?Those LEd panels look like the front of the LB game, lol :woohoo: .Learn something new everyday, nice job Bro.Peace and stay safe,DancesWithWeed

Anyone try a crop using their light bright? JK I dont think those pegs work like LED's. Too bad though.. Anyway I wanted to add to the dark cycle at the end. My experience has been to let them sit in the dark for 1 or 2 days after your done flowering and also not water them. I got this from a grow video. Supposedly it helps to get the nutes thru the system and to dry her out before chopping. Keep up th good work man. Very nice/clever setup.

Har! Lightbright!

Looking good! Yeah, those LEDs are interesting, aren't they? Less heat, yeah? Ideal for a micro, maybe? There's a link around here somewhere for a shop, and they ain't cheap.

yeah i have also heard that at the end of the flowering cycle it is good to leave the plants in complete darkness for 48 hours,,,

its supposed to move all of the carbs down into the root system, and also is supposed to increase the resin content of the buds...

ive never tried it personally but ive read a lot of growers saying that it does make the buds more resinous...

those are custom home made and are much cheaper than pre-built models that you can get at www.ledgrowlights.com or similar companies.

hello,

i found a photo of my first micro grow, but it's not much. However,i belive i will get more photos from a friend (if he still has them).

both ww and ad were really soft smoke,ww had a mild fuity aroma & taste
and had a stoney high (i was more stoned than high (by this i mean couchlocked)).ad had a more earthy, somewhat bitter but not unpleasant taste & aroma and even more stoned effect and was a real appetite-starter (whenever i would smoke ad before sleep i would wake up hungry at 2-3 am ) .All-in-al both were a very good smoke in my book and that is all that matters :joint:

i don't know the weight numbers, but it lasted for over a month of smoking.I smoked over a gram a day so it was probably around 40-50 g,but i actually have no idea.

as for the future plans,i am training a black domina plant (i will try a single plant this time) into a bush under 2x 18w cool white and waiting for the summer to pass as the temps are 30-35°C.If everything goes as planned (and it NEVER does) i will power-up my setup in about 14 days for the 2nd round.

if anybody has any suggestion about black domina, please post

thank you all for all your input and positive reactions :woohoo:

PEACE!

I suggest flowering under a hps! j/k Keep up the good work.

Are you sure you got 2+ ounces off of that system? If so thats really good.

Back again

Back again

Greetings,

after a few months of being off-line i'm wired again.Nice to see you all again. In the meantime i've lost one plant due to a bad infestation.I have no idea what kind of bug did this, but i couldn't get rid of them. And then one day there was a strong smell of dried leafes coming out of the box and I knew it was over...

So,my plans to have my own smoke for new years' eve went down the darin. No biggie (well actualy it is,but let's not talk about that...).Here is a picture of the new plant 1 wk into flowering

i'm sorry for the poor quality,i'll try to borrow a better camera

well,
here is one picture of my BD at 28 days fl.The first thing i noticed in '07 was the return of the notorious spider mites.Tody i trimmed most of the infested leafs and sprayed her with pesticide. This wasn't the only reason i trimmed her, lower branches and buds didn't get much light.Do you feel i trimmed her to much and what kind of problems could accour as a result of this?

that looks like spider mites man...wanna be careful you clean it good or theyll come back on your next crop

I just finished a nice long battle with Spider Mites, a few bottles of safer soap and some no pest strips and I'm good to go.

Nice LED grow.

wow LEDs are neat! But how many lumens per watt? a 400w HPS makes about 50,000 lumens, so thats 125 lumens per watt. How many lumens per watt for an LED array? :)

when talking about ledgrow, forget about lumens! hps has a lot of lumens, but the 'lumen measure' is based on human eye intensity. it means that the same ammount of light in red, yello, green, blue, ir, uv have a very different lumen values. human eye is the most sensitive in yello and green spectrum, so there is a lot of lumens. in greg's setup the spectrum is where human eye is not so sensitive, but your plant is not a human eye.
i'm glad you mentioned hps lumens. have you ever wondered how many of that lumens are really usefull for your plants? the main percentage of them is in yello and green spectrum, which is not important for photosynthesis. the absorbtion of that wavelenghts is near to zero. but in greg's setup, all the lumens are where the plant needs them. the main point in ledgrow is that you give your plant only what it really needs.
