70 W system challenge LED vs. HPS #2

today I think that I will dream about seeds in the HPS room, were a lot of seeds, probably more than 1000. here are 2 pics

thanks for what your doing, I sure didint have time or will to do it but I was realy interested in LED's. how much do I owe you!!!! lol,,

I have one conclusion with LED. Because of the low light penetration, it would be better to go with realy short plante and more plants per sq/ft for best yield!

eastside_farmer when everything is dry I will try to get here the most data I can. Including weight of dried buds, leaves, seeds in each room. but for now will we have to wait about 7 - 10 days. Will try also to get you weight of each plant.

I almost have some nightmares, because of that seeds when I close my eyes, seeds were everywhere

haha, holy cow! that is alot of seeds medved! alot of good plants to come! i would say just from the last few pics that it appears good old HPS may have totally outyielded led in this one. quality and flavor are also important factors, but to the naked eye, i think i can make a pretty safe prediction. kudos man and cant wait to see the final numbers

the day of numbers have come but not all the numbers are here, buds are still drying, here are only numbers of seeds and weight of seeds.

in the led room i manage to find and count 134 seeds in total weight of 2,1 g (scale is only 0,1 g accurate)

In the HPS room i found about 756 seeds (cca) in total weight of 13,6 g.

I have already put these seeds in the rockwool, also with some other crosess that i made this time. I made also White Russian x Pakistan Valley, Pakistan Valley x Pakistan Valley and Skunk/DC x Pakistan Valley.

and if you want I can start another thread. I combine 70W HPS and those leds in one place and in other place i put 150W HPS. If there is interest I will made another thread.

Buds are drying slowly, temps are about 15 - 20°C. so I think that about 7 days more to go.

Very cool. Can't wait to see dried bud shots and yield figures! That droplet is resin. I've seen that on other threads on IC before. +K for doing the comparison. I'm interested in a LED grow now.

well today I removed buds from the stems (but aren't dry enought, i still need to dry them a little). and I was little dissapointed

let's go to numbers

LED box
plant #1 = 3,0 grams
plant #2 = 3,6 grams
plant #3 = 3,9 grams
plant #4 = 0,3 grams
plant #5 = 0,2 grams
plant #6 = 2,5 grams

together = 13,5 grams (g)

I have found another 10 - 15 seeds in this dry buds, so total weight of the seeds was 2,6 g.

I can conclude that buds + seeds together in the LED room was 16,1 g.

I also weightet the stems in the LED room, and total weight was 17,5 g.

how many grams per W? without seeds there was 0,21g/W, with seeds was 0,25g/W.

HPS box
plant #1 = 4,2 g
plant #2 = 3,1 g
plant #3 = 6,6 g
plant #4 = 3,8 g
plant #5 = 2,9 g
plant #6 = 2,4 g

total weight of (almost) dried buds 23,0 g

And I also found some seeds here, about 20 - 30 I think. So total weight of the seeds in the HPS box was 13,0 g.

I can conclude that buds + seeds together in the HPS room was 36,0 g.

I also weightet the stems in the HPS room, and total weight was 34,0 g.

how many grams per W? without seeds there was 0,33g/W, with seeds was 0,51g/W.


I already start a new grow, and now I have combined 70 W HPS with 65W of leds, against 150W HPS. (will made a tread when I will have some more time)

And why the f..k this photopost here on IC is not working? man I really hate that, I have some pictures to upload, and nothing. It looks like that I will have to wait for another time, for some pics.

Probably will made another thread with my crosess, that were made this round. And will be flowered under 400 W HPS. Because I have more then 900 seeds of AK47 x Pakistan Valley

Definately a combo. More lumens = more bud. Show us how the addition of the LEDS can add to the hps yield

I was kinda disappointed that the LEDs didn't do that well. Man those few plants were weak. But hey good luck with all those seeds, hope to see some results on those

So all the benefits of LEDs (longlife, less heat), I consider this a proove of LEDs growing capabilities. The useage of high power LEDs with their much better efficiency compared to 5mm will outperform HID of the same wattage by far.
