600 watt closet setup questions

Lets see what we can do to improve my setup. any input and comments would be greatly appreciated and respected. im working in a 2x6 closet 9 1/2 feet high.

exaust:
so far i have a 4" vortex fan pulling through 6" insulated ducting to a 6" valuebrite reflector w/ glass and up to a big keg size carbon filter. warm stinky air is covered as far as im concerned as the fan is pumped out a pefect custom hole in the door (about 5 1/2ft high)

intake:
i cut a rectangle size hole in the door at the bottom corner and i run a small floor fan outside the door aimed in at the hole.

lights:
lumatek 600 watt digital ballast (placed outside the room) with a hortilux super hps eye bulb which was highly recomended to me because of its added blue spectrum. confirm? also milar walls.

medium:
i run organic moonshine mix in buckets and run off trays. i try to avoid to much run off however, the tables are a foot tall with 1" difference to the right. a water catcher below and extention cords. i use a wall mount fan for the canopy and a clip fan for the tray, shooting up.

I started rooted NL clones under florecents for about 2 weeks before being transfered to the closet for 1 1/2 weeks 24 hr hps.

i just started to flower with 10 females in 3 gallon organic soil buckets and the monsters are already from 24"-36"!

is this going to be enough light/area to get top quailty herb? lots of shoots i should mention. should i transfer to 4 gal? they are going to grow out i can feel it already.

is that okay to use a 3 gal for the next 2 months?
tons of questions i know, but im excited to get feed back.

peace=respect.

only thing with 600s is that they emit a lot of heat so inside a smallish closet youre gonna have to make sure the ventilation is good. Youre gonna want a fan down the bottom pushing air up, as well as an exhaust fan at the top sucking air out, and preferably disposing of it out a window. Heat will be your main challenge

so far my temps have been good. they were 79-83 during 24hrs. now they are around 78-80 lit and 75-76 dark.

i know this is high temp but i am short on cash right now and ill get an a/c unit next go.

really my main concern is will i have the space and light to flower all the follage? im one not to waste if i dont have to.

For your first grow id recommend using a smaller pot (or the same pot but not as much medium), that will prevent the roots from getting too big, which in turn keeps the plant small. Also don't veg for too long - you may even want to try going into 12/12 straight away. In other words start small for your first grow and use that as a gauge - you may not end up with as big a yield as you might in your 2nd grow, but at least you should still get _a_ harvest out of it without too many (if any) problems

no probs so far. none at all.

do you think i will get enough wattage to the 10 30" plants in 3 gal buckets for a 6x2 area under 600 watts digital? remember. 55 days more to go.

today in the seed strain cabinet there is some activity.
the big bud is looking female for sure. white hairs!
is that a sure fire way of picking a female out?
males=no white hairs at all?
the other three seed strains arnt really showing any signs that i recognize.

in the 600 watt HPS closet, im starting to get really worried about space issues. if i have a 6x2' space and 600 watts digital hps running at peak output, can 10-12 plants grow to 4ft and still produce perfect NL nuggets?

once again, should i stick it out 55 days in the three gallons or do i have enough light to put 12 plants in 4 gallon containers and grom them to 4 foot trees!????

:chin:

here are the photos!

here are the photos!

okay here we go there are a few so please bare w/ me.

this is the carbon filter, ducting, vortex 4" inline fan, 2x4 supports, 6" air cooled refector w/ glass and 600 watt lumatek digital ballast running a hortilux super eye hps bulb. very nice with the space. ya think?

above light hangers and ducting

right side ducting and reflector

6" exhaust hole cut in door 5 1/2 ft high. sometimes i put ona gel there to neutralize the 420 sesh within 10 min.

About the white hairs. Unfortunately it's not a guarantee of female plants. Are they(hairs) pre-flowers between nodes, or just white fuzzy hairs covering everything? Some close up pics would help!

ill need to wait another week or come up on a better camera. do you know how soon into the 12/12 a male can become dangerous?

how soon before they get their balls?
age 12?

Normally 6-8 weeks give or take. Do you have a magnifying glass? Might make the search for your balls(your plants balls that is) easier.

here it the cabinet for the seed strains. once i determine sex ill move the females back into the hps closet and pollinate the males for later experiments.

this is going to be a future 400 watt flower cabinet.

shes the tallest monster NL clone. 33" and only at day 5 flowering. are they (all 10 NL clones) going to have enough light at 600 watts digital hps?

please, any help will do abot my space issue

this is canopy (right) 23"-33" tall at day 5 flowering.

canopy (center)

canopy (left)

all are 23"-33" tall at day 5 flowing. no screen yet. should i? if i did add a screen would i just pancake the taller shoots over and up?

this is 10 plants in 3 gallon buckets of soil to be transfered into 4 gallons next week. all under 600 watt digital hps. am i going to big? should i take out the shorties? if so, how many plants in 4 gallon buckets should i be flowering under 600 watt digital hps?

so many questions. so little time. thank you so much for your attention.

i have 10 clones 24"-35" (NL) at day 5 flowering under a 600 watt lumatek (blue) w/ sper hps eye hotiux blub.

plus i have 4 different seed strains in another room flowering under cfl while they show sex signs.

all 14 plants are in 3 gallon buckets to be tranfered into 4 gallon next week.

my real question is, do i have enought room/light? oh yea, im working in a 2x6 area.

should i get rid of a few small plants and the males of course. my goal is to put the female seed strains back under hps light once they show sex.

how much is too much? please help!

unless your plants are showing signs of a bad defincy why transplant during flowering 3 gal containers are good sized.

have the plants been in these containers very long

you should be abel to place all 10 - 3 gal containers under the 600w hps

maybe next run instead of round buckets inside a rectangel may i suggest grow bags from your local hydro shop. they are quite strong made of industrial grade plastic bag in sizes from 1gal - 5gal and cheap

as for the height issue your having with some plants being a undesirabel 11 inch taller, may i suggest supercroping. what i like to do is gently crush the inner hurd of the main stem where i wish to bend stem @90degree angel. i gently crush the inner and then bend over at 90 degree angel

heres an example this grape krush i did the main stem 2 times

read up on supercropping pic above is top of the plant in 1 gal grow bag i pulled 45 grams dry from the plant

nice plants ya have Bruce

this is what im thinking:

12 plants in 4 gallon containers. 8 plants in the 4x2 tray and 4 in a new 2x2 tray. then ill run a SOG chicken wire over the whole 6x2 area. the plants are in day 6 of flowering and they are from 24"-34" tall. yikes! :yoinks:
i know this is big and they will grow when they transfer into 4 gallon containers next week.

is 600 watt digital hps enough light?

ill train the numerous shoots as much as possible over the 6x2 area.
sog style

I'm confused. Do you mean scrog over the whole thing? But, yeah the 600 watts is probably enough for now, and the 3 gallon pots will provide plenty of root space.
