5th-Grader Takes Pot to School, Turns in Parents

"Informers are born, not made at a very young age..."

Interesting concept, that.

I also knew not to rat out my father and his buddies for their drinking shenanigans on our fishing/hunting trips when I was a kid. (Starting at about the age of 5.) That would have been the end of my invitations. My father never vocalized any threat until my cousin and I started drinking with the adults at 14 or 15. Then he told us in no uncertain terms that our asses were his if our mothers ever found out.

The nazi youth were indoctrinated at a young age to turn there parents in. The state doesn't want your children, they want your rights. When are kids taken away for drunken driving? When are kids taken for presciption medication that makes them drooling idiots? These kids were taken for a misdemeanor WTF.

I'm a father of 4. I've made it a priority to be totally upfront with them about my pot use. I keep my stash and grows locked, even though my kids have zero interest in weed. When it was time for their DARE sessions, I asked them to be respectful to the officer, and listen to everything they say about hard drugs. But when they speak about marijuana, they're misinformed and using faulty data.

DARE... To Think For Yourself!

Be careful friends, keep things hidden from your kids thats the most responsible thing to do. Kids are way smarter then people give them credit for.

Shades of pre-war Nazi Germany.Propaganda programs like D.A.R.E. can do more harm then good. When kids realize that marijuana is a moderate hallucinogen not a powerful, dangerous drug they will rationalize that everything else they were told is BS.About the kid's parents. They will probably get probation and the kid will get a Grey Hound ticket and a matching set a luggage on his eighteenth birthday.

In 1936 there was a movie made about the dangerously addictive mind-maddening drug called marijuana. You probably know this movie as "Reefer Madness". The real title of the movie was in fact,
"Tell your children".
It was propaganda to scare parents into telling their children about the dangers of Marijuana.

SEE youthful marijuana victims - what actually happens!
Sin - degradation - vice - insanity!
Tell your children!
Women Cry For It - Men Die For It!
The Sweet "Pill" That Makes Life BITTER!
Adults Only!
Drug Crazed Abandon!
It's Public Enemy, Number One!

This movie was responsible for many of the prejudices against marijuana that we still battle today.

Flash forward 49 years.
"Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical" a tongue-in-cheek musical comedy adaptation of the 1936 anti-marijuana propaganda film is released.
During the movie, one of the parents begins to question the validity of the propaganda. He is almost immediately accused of being a communist and threatened until he conforms! The movie ends with the hero of the movie burning the marijuana field and as he walks away. Then the Grand-Finale is a book burning in the middle of town. While the town sings;

It's time for parents to take a stand,
for the preservation of this great land,
'til the things that scare us are burned or banned,
or smashed to smithereens,
and once the reefer has been destroyed,
we'll start on Darwin and Sigmund Freud,
sex depicted on celluloid,
and communists and queens,
when danger is near explore their fear,
the end will justify the means!

The irony here is that both movies want you to tell your children the truth!

While watching the movie Humbolt county. A little girl is asked about marijuana, and her reply is,
"It's only a plant!".
It reminded me of playing video games with my daughter when she was younger. When my arthritis got too bad to play with her, (our video games always turned into wrestling matches!) I would ask her to go to her room so I could take my medicine, and then we could play some more.
"You better smoke two joints old man, cause I am kicking your butt when I come back!" Would usually be her reply. You see my daughter always knew about marijuana.
She knew it was medicine. And like all medicines. Children should only take what their parents give them. Her 5th grade teacher (who smoked) was quite surprised when my daughter agreed with the D.A.R.E. instructor, that cocaine and heroine, and meth were all bad drugs that were no good. But argued that Marijuana and Hash were excellent pain relievers. We all had a good laugh at the next parent teacher conference!

My daughter married and moved away, to Hawaii. That's where her husband was stationed. As his departure date, for Iraq, drew nearer and nearer, my daughter began having severe anxiety attacks. The Army doctors prescribed Zanax and a few others with no real help.
When she told me they had given her Oxycontin, I had to draw the line.
"Look sweetheart maybe it's time you thought about trying marijuana for relief. I know you didn't care for it much earlier, when I let you try it (she was 18!). But it will really have a calming effect on you if you let it." I told her.
She was worried about the legality of bringing it on base. So I told her the next time she was in the wifes meeting, ask what time it is, and then say, "My watch stopped at 4:20!"
"Someone will snicker."
Then after the meeting approach that person. It worked. And it worked for her anxiety. And no addictive opiates!

So after all of this rambling and cute stories and anecdotes. What could possibly be the point here!

There is only one "sure" way, to make sure marijuana ever becomes fully legalized!
TELL YOUR CHILDREN!!
Tell them the truth, it is just a plant!
They are the future voters,
the future senators,
governors,
law officers,
law makers,
doctors,
lawyers,
and yes presidents!
They will have the power!
If we give them the knowledge!
They can change this world!

They will try marijuana, see that it is not as bad as they have been told, then look to the rest of the narcotics classified with marijuana, ie. Cocaine, Meth, Crack; and perhaps think those aren't as bad as they've been told, too.

Exactly, the only way MJ is a gateway drug is when we fill kids full of DARE crap, and they go on to find out that it was bullshit, so they assume that the stuff they heard about harder drugs is bullshit too.

NC is supposedly a State in which MJ is Decriminalized yet Regular People are still being treated like Criminals in accordance to Draconian Laws based on lies. It kind of makes me wonder how fucked we really are. I think I'll break some laws (smoke weed) and contemplate that for a while ...

They didn't have D.A.R.E. when I was a kid but in the small town I grew up in the cops came to church one time to tell us about how bad all drugs were. So when I found out about MJ. Not being like they said they were I figured they were lying about everything else about drugs. So I probably tried more different stuff that I might not of tried if they would of told us the truth in the first place..:smoweed:

I have no problem with programs at school informing kids on the dangers of using drugs. Telling them bullshit lies about harmless plants (i.e. cannabis) is unacceptable. Keep your stash away from your kids, that's the bottom line.

If I actually believed that they were doing this to help anyone but themselves, I would agree.:tiphat:

I also believe that if you hide "things" from your children you just may teach them to hide "things" from YOU. LOVE your children....don't baby-sit them.
