One thing I see missing, which should increase yields are reflective panels.

I use portable/movable reflective panels made from 4x8 sheets of 1/2" (pink or blue) foam insulation covered with mylar. These panels have chains attached to the top. Place J hooks on ceiling around perimeter of space. These panels can then be removed for access and adjusted vertically. The J hooks can be placed at diff spacing as well to keep panels as close to plants as possible. Since the mylar wont blow around fans can be directed beneath or between panels.

This will provide up to 30% more light, which will either allow for a bigger grow space oer more intense light on the periphary.

Also a really good idea if your grow isn't taking up the entire room

Yep. You have to understand that this is about as good as it gets.

Thanks for compliment Mister D., and Lemonskunk420!

Lack of response normally means that there is no interest and it will be ignored, or he is just waiting to update again next week.

Who knows?

What people forget about vertical vs horizontal is the 3 to 6 foot height of the plants grown horizontal where the lower area has to be pruned because the light won't penetrate so the lower growth is a waste of light energy grown then discarded so to calculate the watts per square foot in horizontal you have to add the vertical height of your finished product my vertical has all the lower growth intact so no waste or popcorn with the same height or more but much fater I think the best of both is the key with small top lights and large side lights.

Day 42 Bloom Update

Unit:

Edge:

Short Stuff:

Bud Tip:

Data:

The plants are filling in nicely. They continue to eat moderately. I have minimal tip burn and leaf curl. The sweet grape smell is lingering in the air.

They still look slightly behind to me. The uneven canopy isn't helping. You can see in the short stuff shot that the center is a foot or more shorter.

I'm still mixed on the first 14 days MH. Part of it, I'm sure, is my bias to HPS. It messed with my prune and trellis schedule, which also contributes to the plants looking "funny" to me. We will find out in the end.

My first serious grows were scrogs. They work best with one or two plants. You won't need the yo-yos - the plants push on the screen - you end up having to hold the screen down. A scrog smashes a 3D plant into 2D. Tip that screen 90 degrees and add 5 more = trellis grows I do now.

I've tried cargo netting, big ass chicken wire, and 4" square fencing. The trellis is the most work, but it works the best by far.

Yes I should have put up some reflective material for this space. I jumped into this grow a lil quick. I gotta dig those panels otta storage.

I'll know more about the MH question in 3 weeks or so. I know to never start an uneven canopy under one. This may end up being a useful tool for me - I just need more data.

As always, your comments and questions are welcome.

Day 49 Bloom Update

Unit:

Side:

Bud:

Bud Tip:

Data:

Buds are thickening - around beer can size atm. They are very dense, I'm glad I have the bottom blaster fan along with the oscillators for this run.

The sweet grape smell is thick in the air. The trichs are getting a little thicker as well. Going to be some large quality buds.

These are scheduled for 3 more weeks - tho they look like they will take longer. The center of the grow is way behind - they look pretty homely against their towering sisters.

As always, your comments and questions are welcome.

was just going to say. take some leaves off if ur getting closer to harvest will allow bigger buds all over plant.

If the centers are lacking it's time to give them some light remove a bunch of fans.

Okay, you know removing fans mid-late flower is a big controversy, right? Gotta say tho, I've done it. Not sure if it helped or not. I do strip em in veg to get more bud sites tho, and that I have documented to work for my strain, and grow set up.

So what evidence do you have that it'll help? Not doubting ya, just wondering if I should continue to do it or let em be. The guru Jorge Cerventes says dont do it...

I am doing it now still in veg but for those of us that do you strip in veg every week or two then let them stretch in flower and strip at 21 days flower and again at 45 and I do it again a week before chop. Those first pictures show little branching and far spacing It creates lots of branching and density when you strip the leaves the new shoots or buds grow because they get much more light and growth hormone check out the last few pages of defoliation thread it can increase plant weight.https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=174163&page=250

"Post#1169:
k33ftr33z and lifeless, thanks for the compliments on the monster!

i just weighed last weeks plant and it only went 15.80. i guess i screwed up somewhere.

so my last five consecutive defoliated plants went 11.96, 12.35, 14.74, 18.38, and 15.80 for a total of 73.23 or an average of 14.65 each.

my last 5 plants before defoliation averaged 10.49, or 52.45 total oz's.

a total difference of 20.78 or 4.16 zips per plant.

i have been doing a series of changes over the last year to drive up yield and this one, defoliating, has made the largest difference.

at this point i'll stop posting pics and weight here as i think i have proven this technique.

thanks k33ftr33z!"

Correct Data Sheet:

Had the data sheet from the last run up there. Here's the right one.

The reason the center is behind is because of the 14 MH first experiment. I did not get the stretch in the center I was used to from HPS.

I pull fan leaves from the bud layer - but there is a layer of just fan leaves below.

I do a bottom foliar spray on the leaf zone. This allows another avenue for nutrients to be absorbed. Most of my runs, I stop sprays around 14 days.

is there a heat prob in there? for 50 days they have very little frost. and seem very airy?
nice documented grow but i wonder what can be done to bring the frost and density on

Yeah it's just my nine-10 week girls look done by end week 6 except for the colors from flush and a tad more swelling. I'm sure there are many factors but I just thought I'd point it out to him that they seem a lil behind and lacking frost. There is a lockout prob he has. U see the curled leaves. To much P to early for that strain. Bet that correction alone would help.
I just wanna see AK ballin' up in here rockin ice
