5 ton central AC debate! whats the deal with Excel?

I know I'm late to this thread.. haven't even lurked IC for a minute now, I was just hoping to find some quick info on ROs, cheaper membranes etc... happens everytime I have to change my membranes on my Evolution.

But anway, back on topic. I bought the excel 5ton for the ease of not having to get an hvac tech out to my spot and I absolutely reget it, its not worth it. Its a good unit, don't get me wrong, running strong after 2 years, but i could have put that $1500 in savings (or so forget exactly what i paid, it was cost to the shop too) to good use elsewhere when building my room, like more AC and/or much more efficient AC... or replacement membranes!

Good luck! Oh, and I believe that my compressor is a goodman to those that were recommending them! With maybe a trane handler? When you buy it you just get the "real" manufacturers manuals for the unit they precharge lines for and install the $150 heat pump and print you off a 1 page install instructions on.

im glad i didnt go with Excel as well. i got three 4 ton condensers and handlers, plus all the line sets and other random accessories for 7500. it would have costed me 15k to go with excel so i saved 7500 bucks, which i put into my water purification and delivery system and other parts of my grow.

in legal states where cool HVAC dudes aren't too hard to find, Excel ain't worth it.

does the 7500 include installation for all 8 tons? if so that's a killer deal.

naw 7500 was for 12 tons of units total, the install is probably gonna be another 1k or so, have a good friend who does hvac. also have to mount and install a dual zone 36k fujitsu system as well which i found for 2800.

whats up.

install came out a little more than 1k. more like closer to 2500. that was just for line sets, thermostats and charging for all three 4ton centrals and the mini split. mini split gave us some issues with wiring size and other annoying things, in future i would probably avoid using them. 1500 to charge and vacuum the refrigerant alone, the other 1k was for mounting all the lines via unistrut, cutting holes in the warehouse, etc...

we installed all the spiral ducting, air handlers, plenums, ourselves. that costed another 3k, spiral ducting is expensive as fuck! and all the damn unistrut, brackets and other random things at home depot to mount them. custom plenum boxes alone were almost 800 dollars, each air handler needed two plenums.

but the feeling of being in a large room with so many E-paps burning and having cold air hit your face is AWESOME! can't wait to get some plants in there...
