5 months of sales and down sides of Colorado

Law enforcement officers in Colorado and neighboring states, emergency room doctors and legalization opponents increasingly are highlighting a series of recent problems as cautionary lessons for other states flirting with loosening marijuana laws.

There is the Denver man who, hours after buying a package of marijuana-infused Karma Kandy from one of Colorado’s new recreational marijuana shops, began raving about the end of the world and then pulled a handgun from the family safe and killed his wife, the authorities say. Some hospital officials say they are treating growing numbers of children and adults sickened by potent doses of edible marijuana. Sheriffs in neighboring states complain about stoned drivers streaming out of Colorado and through their towns.

plenty of people rave about the end of the world.that is one thing that happens all over the world ! sad but true .
affairs ,money and power are probably top of the tree for a reason to kill his wife.
it would be so hard to guess the real reason for the tragic events which have taken place at such an early time into the investigation

i can get sick by eating candy, and it is also possible to kill yourself drinking water
neighbouring states are jealous .

do stoned drivers look different to not stoned drivers?
they sure as shit do not kill as many people as drunk drivers
all the best .ww

People driving high on prescriptions and alcohol is way more of a public safety danger but those substances are fully legal, subject to far less taxation and celebrated in society.

Legal guns kill more children than any accidental pot overdose.

Whether guns, vicious dogs, prescription drugs, liquor or whatever.
It's the owners in possession of these things that are responsible to keep them from harming others.

As far as idiots going crazy from too many edible candies.
It will never topple the king of idiot/crazed/killer makers, ALCOHOL.

As long as the facts and numbers are plainly in sight, anyone trying kill the steamroller of pot legalization, will only be voicing opinion.

That article is filled with holes.

Very poorly written piece using anecdotal evidence to try to skew data.

The author writes about a shooting involving a husband high on pot. If the husband was high on alcohol, we would not be debating the legality of alcohol, but rather, talking about the shitty things people do when they are drunk.

Two very different conversations.

Just ridiculous, the problem with edibles is people eat way too much.
New users should probably not start out eating edibles in the first place.
The thing with edibles is they can take a long time to kick in, people end up not feeling the effect and eat more.
What happens is people get way to high and end up freaking out and running to an ER, or doing something completely retarded.
I hate hearing about all these problems with edibles, its not helping the situation any.
I remember when I was in the Dam back in 01, there were having issues with too many tourist eating too many spaces cakes, freaking out and filling up their ERs'.

True, but it's the "news" reporting that is skewed. Look at political ads....do we really believe them for face value, or do you actually do research on comments, votes, etc. Same goes for the negatives of cannabis. The state is still raking in tax dollars.

I actually emailed a CO Springs TV station director of operations as they gave only a partial (and incorrect) report recently. Luckily, the station bureau chief emailed and said they would do more thorough research. This was a case similar with NO link to where the information was derived, thus incomplete, inaccurate. Told him he needed to have news anchors state WHERE or WHAT publication they were spouting off about.

And in Colorado, it scares me to see such close minded individuals up for re-election.....other debates are being intertwined to cannabis use.

The guy that killed his wife was also high on prescription pain killers. Wasnt mentioned very often. The few articles i have read that mentioned the fact was near the end of the story with a little one line note. Most completely ignored it.

Funny thing is the company that made the edibles pulled the edibles from the shelf....cant say the same for the rx company.

I personally fear the reckless bho production stories, i think they will scare more than some of the other stories. With my state up for vote this year i can only imagine how many idiots will blow something up. We seem to harvest them here like they are batteries for the matrix.

FUCK the N.Y. times and all their g'damn propaganda.

Those lying cocksuckers have done more harm to this nation than cannabis ever has with their race baiting, lies, discontent, and FAILURE to cover the criminal acts of politicians who are supposed to be "leaders".

There was something else going on for sure no way eating and edible will make you kill someone... something else had to be involved.
Too much edible can make you pass out... it can make others not used to the effects panic and feel very sick as well.

they will always take things and blow small parts out of proportion

first off, getting stoned does not lead to psychosis

and long before these laws changed, EVERYTHING, besides an actual non medical storefront, happened every day. There is nothing new happening besides folks can pay taxes.

FFS there are still folks fighting against gay marriage, saying it will lead to beastiality, or humans marrying an animal or some fucked up thing they were told by their pastor/priest.

Colorado will be teh whipping post til full on Federal legalization, but that is coming, even my parents and their friends, who are STAUNCH Republicans, agree it needs to be done

Running off to the ER is dumber than a hat full of assholes, anyway. They won't do anything other than keep you there, Tell you it'll be OK, compile stats about edibles causing ER visits...

As the article points out, we're on a steep learning curve & people need to use common sense wrt their own consumption & securing edibles when children may be around. At that, dangers to kids from prescription drugs are much more serious.

The guy was a likely a borderline flip-out before knocking back a couple of painkillers & munching down a multi-dose candy bar on top of it.

People offering edibles need to do some work on their products for the good of the community & for their own self interest.

They process the marijuana equivalent of floor sweepings into oil or butter, cook with that, may fail to account for varying strength & effects of the raw material.

Butter made from grade A+ Malawi trim will obviously have a different effect than that made from grade B Afghan trim, but who cares, right?

Oh I agree its a huge learning curve. Eating too many edibles and running to an ER is completely stupid. Your right they cant do anything for you, you just need to let it run its course. The problem is we have too many idiots in this world that dont understand and think the ER will help them. Just gives a bad rep and is part of the learning curve for sure.

the problem in CO is that they moved ten dose 100mg brownies and cookies that people in severe pain with heavy tolerance need from the medical side to the recreational side of the shop where they are an accident waiting to happen for someone who is naive to cannabis.

not all edible overdoses wind up with sleepy people. I've spent hours with someone who had too much and flipped out in a way that involved no sleep for 2 days.

sativa dom edibles can make some people behave freaky and 10 times more than you need on your first dose is going to hurt.
