For more on events in Amsterdam please visit the web site of Amsterdam Tourist Board: www.visitamsterdam.nl.

Basic facts about Amsterdam
Although the seat of Netherlands government is in The Hague, Amsterdam is the nominal capital. It is also the country's largest city, with a population of almost 750,000, and the most visited, with over 3,5 milion foreign visitors a year.

The Netherlands is a country situated in Western Europe, bordering Belgium to the south and Germany to the east. To its north and west is the North Sea. Although the Netherlands is the country's official name, people often call it Holland. The provinces of North Holland and South Holland form only part of the Netherlands. For more information about the Netherlands please visit Amsterdam-Netherlands.info.

Amsterdam figures:
Population: 735,500
Country: The Netherlands
Time Zone: GMT/UTC +1
Telephone area code: 020

Currency
The currency in the Netherlands is the Euro ( € , EUR), which is used in almost all countries within the European Union. For details on changing money and methods of payment see our tips for visitors.

Climate in the Netherlands
The warmest weather is from June to August, with temperatures between 21 - 26 degrees Celsius. There are rarely extreme temperatures. The air is relatively humid and fog is common in autumn and spring. There are stronger winds from October to March. Click for weather.

History of Amsterdam
Amsterdam, probably the most planned city of northern Europe, has long been a well-known city. In the 17th century Amsterdam was the centre of world economy, and nowadays the city is known for its tolerant character.

Dutch holiday
A Dutch holiday can add a festive note to your trip, particularly if it involves a parade or special observance somewhere in the country. But expect banks, shops, and most museums to be closed, and public transportation to operate on Sunday schedules for the listed holidays.

Architecture
Amsterdam is where modern architecture developed organically between facades of historical buildings. Since it is not a big city, all sites of interest are within an acceptable distance. This is why Amsterdam is so popular with lovers of architecture.

Amsterdam in figures
Some interesting figures on how many bicycles, bridges, canals, cinemas or markets one can find in Amsterdam, as well as some statistics about the tourists and day visitors to Amsterdam.

Timing your visit
Any time can be the best time to visit Amsterdam. The peak of the tourist season is July and August, when the weather is the finest. Weather, however, is never really extreme at any time of year, and if you're one of the growing numbers who favor off-season travel, you'll find the city every bit as attractive during these months. Not only are airlines, hotels, and restaurants cheaper and less crowded during this time (with more relaxed and cheerful service), but there are also some very appealing events going on. For example, the bulb fields near Amsterdam are bursting with colour from mid-April to mid-May.

The cultural season is in full swing between September and May in Amsterdam, along with The Hague, Rotterdam, Utrecht, and other nearby towns and cities.

Events
A variety of cultural events and festivals are held thoughout the year in Amsterdam, some of them with an English-speaking public in mind.

My bike tours are a trip around Amsterdam. I ride around to my favorite coffeeshops looking for hazes and nice bubble. If any touree's wish to go to a coffeeshop they have heard of etc. I can usuallly get them there without getting lost and quick. the tours are not set in stone, But you will get stoned.

My 1st stop in the Dam(yes even before a coffeeshop) is the bike rental shop.
I always use RENT-A-BIKE DAMSTRAAT
the address is Damstraat 20-22 1012hk Amsterdam (50m from Damsquare)
www.bikes.nl

I will have some discount flyers with adress & map @ SD by the 17th(afternoon).
bikes can be rented by the hour/day(s)/week
3.50€/7€/31€

There is a deposit of 25€ and an id card.
bikes come with 2 locks, use them and you wont need [email protected]€ a day.
they rent several types of bikes. including childrens bikes, so they may have training wheels :biglaugh:
:chin:
It would be nice if those wanting to ride, have rented there bikes before the tour, so we don't plug up the rental shop and spend our riding time renting the bikes.

man i cant wait !!! that sounds like a bike tour i would enjoy going round your favorite coffeeshops and picking up differnt hazes and bubbles and maybe even some hazebubble  one coffeeshop ive always wanted to goto but never seem to of got round to whenever ive been b4 is Katsu. do ya think u could add that to the list of stops?

My quest will be for some of that super Grape hash I had a taste of last year and I plan to hang out with TriFarmer to get regular attitude adjustments from his remarkable bubble hashes. :D

Don't you love tasting all the hashes? Maybe we can find some full melt conventional made from somewhere exotic like Nepal. BOG

Hash being the staple of those who live in Europe, I'm personally more intrigued by the weed, which is staple only in my garden :D. I do intend to purchase some for evening smoking, and Malana Cream will be present in my A'Dam afterhours stash

Malana Cream eh?

I want some DJ shorts blueberry and some Soma Amnesia Haze, some Nevilles Haze if obtainable. I have a friend in amsterdam who has nevilles clones and he has the best nevilles haze in the fucking world but there may be none for sale of this. Precious little red buds let me tell ya. :D BOG

Blue, I agree with you on the weed :joint: (intriguing) vs. hash. I never heard of Malana Cream. Where did you get it from? Sounds interesting. :chin: :yummy: I tried the Caramella Cream from Barney's. :yummy:

on a side note, Blue do you use a Mac? I saw a BV on a mac forum and was wondering if it was you. I'd rather ask on this forum about computers than on a computer forum about weed.

BOGgy if you need company to find your Neville's friend I'm in :D

I'd rather ask on this forum about computers than on a computer forum about weed.

ROTFL! You do have a point there Bones :D

No that, wasn't me, just some poor imitation  I use a Dell :D

Malana Cream is a must in A'Dam, I've never been there but I know its to be found, definitely not a hard to find type of hash, but I guarantee it is an exceptional smoking experience, a friend brought me back some.

Methinks he got it at the Picasso. I have to go by there at some point to say hello to the owner and leave him a gift sent by my friends, if you'd like to come along, coffeeshopping is funner in good company

Bluevelvet might be the second coming of Santa Claus  I'm going to have more gifts in my suitcase then clothes :biglaugh:

If U go the the LINKS - then find WEB GUIDES - then SOMKERS GUIDE - U will find some nice discriptions of recent cannabis buys in the Dam

Rokerij - March - 2005 the - NL5 x Haze
Sativa-Indica Hybrid. Bio.
Look: As you can see, this is SO beautiful it nearly jumps off the computer screen! Almost a deep green Jaguar racing colour under all the white powder. Tiny, fuzzy orange-brown hairs barely peek out of the bud, looking gorgeous. The calyxes (and there are a lot of ‘em) are hard, like little uncooked corn kernels. The pieces are firm, not too moist and not too dry once you break it up. They are absolutely COVERED with glue-like crystals. Albert Stonestein’s aka “Cannanerds” will have their magnifying glasses out for this one and boy will they be stoked!
Smell: The smell is leaning on the Haze side with a bit of a soapy-cleanser scent. It smells piney-sandalwood-soap and very, very fresh like it’s gonna be strong and enjoyable to the palette. Some can't stand the scent of Haze but it makes my mouth water; you can have the Skunk!
Taste: Take a dry hit and it will have you lickin' your lips. The flav inna jointje is quite different than when you vapourise it! Much more peppery-spicy and celery-like almost like a Charas or Indian hash??? It leaves quite a strong taste in the mouth and a oil drip in the back of the throat; you know it’s gonna be hitting your head before it’s finished moving down….
Effects: The FX are quick as lightning as it rushes in and has you slammed to the floor. WOW. Heavy in waves, you may find yourself staring in the mirror and giggling at the person looking back at you! Next time I'll smoke with a friend!
Overall: This gear is yummy, potent, and well-priced! Simply fantastic, and clearly one of the best weeds for early 2005. A big bag of good gear awaits from any of the Rokerij party spots...
