400w isn't that great!

Shit, I was feeling bad for my first grow only being 1.25oz from one plant, but then I realized that was the weight AFTER it was dried and cured. Not bad for my first grow with CFLs (three plants down to one, because the other two were males that I had to feed to the blender).
RIP Basil-3 - I smoked you well!
:smokeit:

I plan on getting a 400 or 600 watt, but starting with 4x "300W CFLs" until payday to buy a HPS for this new grow/cab.

On a side note, it's amazing the overlap between hydroponic farming and having fishes / aquariaums for a legit reason to have pumps, tubing and other equipment as well as covering up sounds.

Sometimes I will weigh the buds when curing. If I have 65% RH and then when it gets to 55% RH I will see what was lost in weight.. weighing wet bud is a waste of time

this isnt directed twords anyone on this post or meant to offend anyone(i dont care reguardless) but i just dont understand why people think that just because they cant get the 1gpw or over .5gpw mark that means it cant be done. if u cant get what ur set on getting out of the light u have what makes u think just because u get a higher wattage light your gona magicly get what your looking for then. upgrading the light in most cases just makes up for the inability to admit to yourself that you are doing sumthing wrong. when if u were able to use the first light u had properly the upgrade to a higher wattage light would be just that... AN UPGRADE not an attemt to cover up the shotty attempt at growing and blaming the poor results on a light. just because You cant do it or have the resources to do it with that light it does not mean that its the lights fault when theres plenty of others using the same thing and consistantly pulling what your tryin for so how is the light wattage to blame??

Hell I love my 400 watter so much I just added another one. Thus I have both a MH and HPS 400 going during flower. I am damn happy with my grows and weight in this setup.

well said :)

whats funny is how they are unhappy with the light so they upgrade to 1k, then they are unhappy with that, so they upgrade to 2k, and they are unhappy with that.

you cant fix stupid.

some people just cant grow no matter what they have for lighting, equipment, nutes, etc.

What's hilarious is you see this predominantly with golfers as well. I think the phrase goes.... "Never have so few spent so much for so little results...." LOL

:D

all im sayin is if theres 10 or more people pulling the same thing with a 250 watt light(not gona even mention a 400...lol) that you are pulling from 600+watts of light. how in the hell is the light to blame?? some people need to just sit back and blaze a fatty n think that maybe just MAYBE they are wrong in the way that they are going about doing what they are doing. hell that goes for people outside the growing community too. for the most part u can tell who thinks for themselfs and who has to be told what to do. I for 1, if u tell me i cant do somthing or its not possible im still going to try.

400s probably suck for growing on a commercial scale, but they are more than sufficient for a personal grow, even with lots of sharing. I grow for me and don't give a crap about grams per watt.

well ya i should say that they would, but thats like saying geo metro's probably suck for bulk transport but they work fine for moving around one dude and his groceries. if you wanted to go commercial you wouldn't buy a million geo metros, fill them full of produce, and caravan across the country, you would buy a few large trucks to do it. does that mean the geo metro is fundamentally flawed? no, it's just not meant for large scale transportation, just like the 400w grow light wasn't meant to be daisy chained by the hundreds in warehouses growing pot. it just wouldn't make sense to string together 250 400w lights when 100 1000w lights would be cheaper, stronger, and more efficient, but when you have a max of 2 by 3 feet you gotta know a 1000w would probably be too hot for a space like that, but a 400 would really shine. additionally i could even see using them in larger numbers if for some odd reason your grow was only 2 feet wide by 30 feet long, you could string 10 of them end to end and still be theoretically lighting your space as efficiently as possible, but once you get up into a 3 by 3 foot or larger area, it's time to start looking for a bigger light

we are all really kinda beating a dead horse here i think, we scared the op away long ago, and are now just adding page after page of why we think 400w lights hold up in the market...lol
