Came back from a three day stint and it's always cool seeing them after not looking at them for several days. It's crazy how much they can change in a matter of days. Here are the pics I took when the lights came on today (Day 18)

Just a quick update. Today is day 21 and things are going along smoothly enough. A N deficiency popped up with two of the plants and the very beginnings of one with the third so if you notice yellow leaves in some pics then..... bingo. I hit them with a balance N/P ACT so we'll see how that treats them. Hopefully that will take care of it for now, I just wasn't anticipating how nutrient hungry these broads would be. I also took the pictures about 5 minutes before lights on so there wouldn't be that obnoxious orange glow in the pics. (I know, I know - I don't have photoshop). Here goes.

Fed the girls again last night to try and take care of this nitrogen issue. The ACT seemed to put it in check but I wanted to hit them with some regular nutes again. They loved it and there wasn't any sign of burn anywhere. I even got some of the fan leaves reaching up towards the heavens too (the light is about 14" from the average canopy height).

I would have waited to post again for another two or three days but I got all excited when I checked my girls today when the lights came on and I noticed that the little buds have trichomes starting to pop up on them! I tried to take some close up pics but they didn't turn out so well. You might be able to see after IC resizes them. Questions, comments - thanks. :dance013:

DON'T USE SEAWEED IN FLOWERING!!! I just learned the hard way. Doh! I didn't realize that you were supposed to cut that stuff out after veg. I hit the girls last feeding (6 days ago) with regular nutrients as per the bio bizz feeding schedule except I still used maxicrop liquid seaweed at full strength according to the label (3 tbs/ gallon). Well last night I was moving the girls around in the tent to get some light to different parts of different plants and discovered that there are the beginnings of male flowers popping up all over the colas everywhere! I don't have any light leaks either. Right now I'm thinking that I'm going to try and fight the good fight and snip these things off as they pop up as long as I can or until I lose the battle. If anybody has any info on fighting against a herming plant then please pipe up as I'm all ears. Check the pics below.

I'd double check for leaks before jumping to blame the kelp.

I'm fairly certain about the leaks. My tent is tucked away in a corner of the room farthest from the window and the window is covered with the blinds and a tapestry. All the bottom vents are velcroed shut. The ductwork holes have all the drawstings drawn shut. The only thing it possibly could be would be opening the tent exactly 5 minutes before lights on to take pictures without the stupid hps glow going. I can't see how the plants could realize a 5 minute difference in their light schedule. I will double check for light leaks though and I do appreciate the feedback.

I wonder why I never have any hermies with my outdoor plants even with all those bright moonlit nites?

bummer on herming. is'nt the cut of questionable genetic origin? it might be just an unstable plant...

i was totally wondering the same thing about the moon the other day... :chin:

My guess about that is that the plant is born into it and experiences it every day and night. It's used to all the variances and differences that are constantly going on all day and night. Regular indoor plants are pussies that are used to getting the best of everything and day/cycles that are exact down to the second (if you've set it up right). You throw any wrench in that piece of machinery and they go all to pieces. Just my thought at least.

Anyways for an update, I've been fighting the good fight and it's paying off. Since the first round of male flowers the other day I picked them all off. Today I pulled them out and checked them again and only saw the beginnings of 3 or 4 again. I was originally thinking that I was going to try out dutchmasters reverse but now I think I might be able to handle it on my own (plus I'm broke as all hell now). The plants are still dropping quite a few leaves but it still seems as if they are all the lower ones and I think the advice I recieved earlier about normal leaf drop is correct. I'm going to start brewing a tea tonight to throw at them but I WON'T BE ADDING SEAWEED! I think that that was the culprit after all, at least it's not light leaks, I'm certain about that. Anyways for the pictures you'll notice that they are numbered. I did it that way to identify them as they are all the same strain so I numbered them according to original height that they had before I started training with 1 being tallest and 3 being shortest. Also, the pictures of the big knot on the stem is on plant one and it happened when I was trying too hard to train the plant. It creased the stem and made it be able to just flop back and forth but healed up nicely and is super strong now. A canopy picture right after a picture with a number is the canopy of that number.
