400w 2liter SOG Nirvana Snow White

Hiya folks, time to kick off a grow thread! I miss sharing my grow with everyone, which I used to do on OG. I miss having newbies be inspired by what other newbies could and were doing. To show new growers that it is possible, it is not out of reach, if I can grow, you too can grow.

We are all on this fine website because another man was thinking the same thing. He was thinking about how he could go about getting as many people as he could to grow their OWN. It's why he hands out a free pack of seeds along with every order no matter how small a purchase. Gypsy Nirvana, thank you. But I must give thanks to OG, its moderators, and its member base. Something I never thought about while it was up, something I took for granted. For without which I would have never even thought of growing MY OWN, and be inspired by other newbies that were growing THEIR OWN.

So, lets get growing!!

My closet grow consists of a 400w HPS light, enclosed in an air-cooled hood, with a glass shield. I run a 265cfm Dayton squirell cage blower, which draws in air from the top left corner of the closet, and blows through the hood and out my custom made door. Its been suggested that I try to pull air through the hood instead of blow. Thats something I may try in the future. All the AC vents in the house are closed minus the bedroom one, which keeps temps where I like them, 77-82. If it goes above 82 the AC will kick on until it gets back down to about 79, rinse and repeat.

We have 17 clones going right now in 2 liter bottles with black plastic taped around them, with room for about another 14-15. 10 days to root, then I placed them in small cups and vegged them for 8 days. At 8days I transplanted to the 2liter's and let them veg 1 more day, then into the flower chamber. I am not sure at this time if I will fire up the bubble cloner for more clones. At the start of March, I germed some new seeds that I got from purchasing about 1/2oz of "Afghani x Haze #12" meds from a local Socal dispensary. The meds were down right great, heavy hitting Indica with awesome pain releif, and I was ecstatic about getting 12 seeds in the 1/2. So I dont know if I'll have the room to fill the rest of the sog to capacity and still have room to flower out those.

Here's my lineup of products I use.

Fox Farms Ocean Forest dirt 2 parts to 1 part Perlite
.. Grow Big
.. Big Bloom
.. Tiger Bloom
Botanicare Liquid Karma
.. Cal-Mag Plus

Here they are on Mar 28th. They were pulled from the bubbler cloner and placed in dirt cups between Mar 20th-22nd

Here are the SOGlings 8 days later, with enough room for more!

Thats about it for now. I welcome any, and all questions, comments, suggestions, and flames with open arms. And thanks for stopping by.

Exactley what I want to see

Exactley what I want to see

This is awesome, hopefully you will see this thorugh to the end with lots of pictures and documentation (please do a final weigh up after proper trim and cure).

I wish you the best of luck and hope your results are better then what I am expecting. ICMag is picking up right where OG has left us.

Could you do me a favour and measure the diameter of the 2 litre bottles? I need to do a little design work on a future cabinet that will be specifically made for those containers.

You can be sure that I will see this through to the end. Final dry wieghts are a must of course. It will be interesting to see what this method can do, especially with my relatively new green thumb ;)

As for the measurements, the Diameter of the bottle is 13", they are 4 1/4" wide, and about 5 1/2" tall where I cut them.

Looking good, sir. I'd like to tag along and watch this grow.
Do you use the fluoros for supplemental lighting or is that strictly to get them going? Are those some of the new type fluoros?
Grow big

Real cool man. Ineteresting too. I always likes seeing 2 liter grows. Hope you have good luck on this grow.

Is this your first time growing with this method?

Reverend Willis, The floro's are nothing more than 3x 4 footer T12/T8 ballast, held together with some liquid nail and 2x4's. When I first started growing, I used these as my main light for vegging. Then I came upon a great deal for my 400w hps & dayton blower (100$). So now I just use those as supplemental side lighting like you stated. Thanks for checking in!

Jnugg, the closet is 6' wide x 2.75' of usable depth and almost 6' of usable height. Here's a picture to get a good idea.

JayRoach420, Heya man, I think I remember you from OG. :D Yes this is my first go with SOG. One mistake I made right off the bat, was not pulling all the clones from the bubbler at once. Instead when I felt they had an appropriate root formed, I pulled them individually and put them in dirt. This caused the earlier ones to slightly outgrow the ones pulled the following 2 days. I was under the impression that you had to pull the clones when the root wasnt too too long. But from what I've seen here on ICmag, it looks like guys let their roots get really long, with no ill effect. So next time they all get pulled at once. Thanks for the compliments! :)

Transcendence, nice setup. They look like they are streching quite a bit. The stems look rather weak too. Was that from the Flo's? Might want to move the lights closer and start LST on the taller ones. Don't know your grow history, but I can give you some advise if you'd like. I've done SOG a couple times. Otherwise, I think I'll pull up a chair as well :)

Snot Poker, bostrom155, selec, welcome to the show, and thanks for the compliments!

Your right about the strech selec, 1 of them managed to really strech cause I had her a bit far from the floro's. In flower now, I keep them about 8-9" away from the light. This is my first SOG btw, and only my 3rd run ever. I have a SOG question for you. I bubble clone, so should I wait till ALL my clones root before pulling them and placing them in dirt? If some have too long a root, can I just snip it back to about 3-4" long with some scissors?

Here they are now about ~12 days into flowering. Pulling them out of the flower chamber for watering is getting old. Time for a Home De Pot trip for some small saucers.

Now that they've grown a bit and spread their wings so to speak, I see that they need to be spaced a bit apart. Otherwise the leaves will start competing with their neighbors for sunlight, so some spacing should do them good. Not as much room as I thought I would have, maybe room for 8 more at the most. Learn as you go :D

Het T, I'd just let them all root that you want to sog (no matter how long the roots) and then just plant, I don't know about trimming roots so early?

Hey Bostrom, welcome back, I was just watching some MotoGP this afternoon =).

I dont think I want to trim the roots either. And I have seen guys grow super long roots in an ez-cloner, and then place in dirt, so must be cool.

What do you think about placing them into the 2litre bottles directly from the bubbler, then vegging for 10-12 days, before I place them into flowering. As opposed to how I did it this time, which was placing them into the small cup/container, vegging for 8-9 days, THEN transplanting them into the 2litre bottles. I gotta say, it was tuff to t-plant them with that short a veg, not much root structure was going on, and they were not keeping form of the cup very well, breaking apart all over the place during x-fer. They all seem to be growing healthy now tho, but still maybe its not the best way.

Yes saw it Sunday and glad to see nicki in 2nd.

I'm going through the same thing as far as transplanting, thinking of starting a thread with peoples different xplant size and light size..ect.
Well I'm thinking I'd be good to let them veg a few more days in the small cups, just to let the clone get established, you'd be suprised what a day or two more will do. I use the semi diffusant 16oz. cups, so I know when to xplant. Then you can do the transplant into 2L's, but someone will say just toss them in. Try both ways and check yield, this is defiently a learn and go hobby.

Two weeks is AMA Superbike :joint: :joint: :joint: :lurk: :joint: :woohoo:
