I noticed in the previous pictures that the RH shows 35%. Just wanted to put this up. Typically when the tent is closed up the RH is up around 50%.

Closing in on the end of week 5 since flipping to flower. The plants are humming along. I love this part of the cycle. You get to see and smell changes every day. The sugar leaves are starting to get some frost on them and when I open the tent there is a new aroma to enjoy.

While I have been sober for many years I truly enjoy growing this fascinating plant! Ah fuck….. this is getting off track.

Anyway no pictures or it didn’t happen right?

I took these pictures using a monocle on the back of the phone. I think the zoom is 25. When I first started growing I freaked out when I saw the calyxes because I thought they were Seed infested.

The strain is Bruce Banner from ILGM. These four plants are from clone. I was not happy with the first run of this strain and almost culled the mother. I ultimately decided to try again and so far am glad I did.

So I am doing an experiment in back building the colas. I know it has been done by a lot of people but I am of the belief that if I don’t try new things I will never grow. I have snipped the very top of two colas. This is supposedly telling the plant to stop growing vertical. Here are some pictures of the two colas. I will compare these to the others for the remainder of the grow.

interesting
never heard of this before guess we all learn everyday
think i may try this
look forward to watching your results

I have heard and seen results elsewhere. This is not a yield technique. What has been indicated is the buds sense they are out of growth space and begin stacking their calyxes below. This is at five weeks so the next few are bulking time anyway so what the hell. If we aren’t trying things…….

I guess we will see.

what are your temps at?
what distance are the lights from the plants?
i have been growing ppk for at least 6 years.
i usually only drain once my ppms get to around 1.75 ec. i fill at 1.2 ec or around 650 ppm
everything looks pretty good but the buds look like they are stretched out from heat maybe?
i have a bruce banner 2.0 started from seed but have not flowered it yet.
my gmo gets like that if stressed with heat and or light cycle problems
keep on keeping on!

Hey 420ish,

Thanks for chiming in. My daytime temps are hovering at 73 and nighttime around 68. Lights are at least 15”. I can move them up higher and get to 18+. Wondering if I am blasting them? Never thought of that being a problem but I do not have a PAR or PPFD meter.

@420ish I also think you are onto something about nutrient strength. I know all of the OG’s swear by the 650 PPM mark. Delta also noted that his sub irrigation ran around 1250 but he was in a perpetual system and would pull about one module per week. I am currently seeing the tiniest bit of tip burn is a few leaves and my sub irrigation is creeping up. Maybe I need to reduce the input down to 650……?

Another item for discussion, I know that many users of this style of growing run the calnit all the way to the end. I have been considering reducing the calnit for week 6 through to the end (to reduce nitrogen). Any thoughts on this subject would be appreciated!

So when I got home this afternoon I started researching again about foxtailing. While not necessarily considered to be a bad thing I also want the bud to look nice.

I have two lights feeding these plants. Both are rated for about a 2x4 tent individuals. Based on @420ish input above I decided to move the lights up. The bottom of the lights are right at 18” to the tops of the colas

I have recently reported the I have been struggling with RH. The one sensor I had in the ten was showing the RH in the 60+ Range. So I placed several of the small readers like you put in jars in the tent. They are showing low 40 range. maybe a bit low for this stage?

For my own knowledge i also wanted to check PPM & PH of the sub irrigation. i recalibrated my PH pen and took readings. 1350 ppm and 6.2 ph.

i needed to mix some nutes for the bulck reservoir so i have decided to reduce the strength. 650 on top of my base from the tap (120).

i will throw some pics soon.

i run my jacks at 1.20 e.c from cloning to finish.
i run my lights about 24 inches from the plants.
i do grow vertical scrog.
i was using the pro coco for the last year or so but am almost fully transitioned back to turface.
i do not have the system dialed in great due to working on the road at least half the week but am now not doing that anymore so hopefully i will get it better.
i average 12 to 15 oz a plant. each plant is in a 3 gallon roughneck tote filled 2/3 full or maybe a little more.
i run all led with some budget led red spectrum series 2 lights. they are the three board lights one per plant. 350 watts some are dimmed some the dimmer went bad and i removed so full 350 all the time.
i have some geek beast pro lights . i run three plants per two geek beast lights .i run these dimmed to around 450 to 500 watts per light as per my killawatt meter.
i still use one old cxb3590 6 cob light i built years ago 300 watts for one plant.
i like the geek beast pro for best light spread.
i plan on switching to 5 gallon medium containers some time this summer .
plants are looking nice.

your temps dont look bad . i just looked up some more pics of bruce banner and i guess alot of them are the same structure as yours. i do prefer running my lights farther away than alot of people do because my ppms go up since they are only drinking the water and not taking the nutes. that is why i stopped using the pro coco. the ppms would not hold stable for me. when i used turface for years i did almost no nute change outs during any runs. so i am running my lights dimmed and or farther away and now that i am mostly back into turface the ppms are holding under 1.5 ec after three weeks.
my gmos are finally filling out from a similar look of yours at almost 9 weeks. they dont fill out all the way till around 10.5 or 11 weeks.

Well officially here we are at the end of week 6 - 42 days since they were flipped to flower. Not much change from day to day.

Thank you @420ish for the encouraging words about where I am at. Hoping that over the next few weeks these begins to bulk up. It is hard to be patient at this point in the grow. It seems like the days are slowly ticking by. I know from previous grows though that is exactly what is required.

My job is to chop wood and carry water from here on out and let these ladies do what they do best.

Time is flying by. I swear this rock is moving faster around the big orange ball in the sky. These girls are at day 50 from flip. I have read about the flowering time for this strain and there are two perspectives out there. One is an 8 week flower time and the other is 10 weeks. Then add in the confusion about whether that is from the day the light cycle is flipped or at the sign of first pistils and it becomes muddy.

My rant is based on the fact that I am going away for a few day at the end of the month. I am planning/hoping that these girls will be ready for chop on or around the 5th of July. I took a couple extra days of vacation in preparation of doing some cutting and hanging of limbs.

As they say, you can plan everything but the outcome.

Anyway here are pictures from this week.
