All the same breeders who used to cry and did everything they could to under price Rez - are now charging double and triple what he did.

It's a false claim to legitimacy. The assumption is one of high quality because of the high price. It's ego driven marketing that is being fueled by an ego driven cannabis industry.

I won't ever be pricing my seeds like that.

Well Dank Frank,

I can honestly say that you are a great example of loyalty and good faith. If it was not for your constant posts about supporting SB/SB I would of been shopping elsewhere a long time ago. I am somewhat retired from ordering beans but if I was to your BB work would definitely be on the list.

Bob - Thanks for the kind words. I suggest you check out Verdant Green Seeds for some nice blueberry work. I gifted him pollen from my Digi Bx1 male a couple years back and his BlueDigiBerry F2 line is built on it. There is a nice thread in his forums with lots of documentation from different growers.

Price is no firm indication of quality where seeds are concerned.

Over the last couple of decades I have given away tens of kilos of free seeds, and in many cases the free seeds out performed the bought seeds.

As for 'should seeds be so expensive'....like any other market, the product is only as expensive as the buyers can afford. You pays your money, you takes your choice.

Sometimes when we put our heart and soul into something and sell out to the highest bidder shit like this happens.

Intent was there but I have a feeling a lot of this limited edition overpriced stuff is ending up in the hands of people like this.

Wu Tang lost a lot of respect from their hardcore fans after this stunt. Shit Rza lost a ton respect from his own band and peers. Sceptre of an Egyptian king get the fuck outta here with that bullshit? Handed over to big pharm blahshaha!

http://www.bloomberg.com/features/2015-martin-shkreli-wu-tang-clan-album/

It was one of the greatest sales pitches the music industry has ever heard. In March 2014, Robert Diggs, better known as RZA, the producer and de facto leader of the Wu-Tang Clan, the iconic rap group, announced that the Clan would create*only one copy*of its next album,*Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, and sell it to the highest bidder. “We’re about to put out a piece of art like nobody else has done in the history of music,” RZA told*Forbes. “We’re making a single-sale collector’s item. This is like someone having the scepter of an Egyptian king.”

(Later in the article)

Shkreli seems more concerned about how the Wu-Tang Clan would react to the Daraprim dispute. “I was a little worried that they were going to walk out of the deal,” he says. “But by then we’d closed. The whole kind of thing since then has been just kind of ‘Well, do we want to announce it’s him? Do we not want to announce it’s him?’ I think they were trying to cover their butts a little bit.” Paddle8 says it doesn’t disclose client information.

After learning that*Bloomberg Businessweek*was about to report that Shkreli had purchased the album, RZA e-mailed a statement: “The sale of*Once Upon a Time in Shaolin*was agreed upon in May, well before Martin Skhreli’s [sic] business practices came to light. We decided to give a significant portion of the proceeds to charity.”

As for the Wu-Tang fans who are likely to feel queasy when they learn that he’s the owner of*Once Upon a Time in Shaolin, Shkreli just shrugs. “At the end of the day,” he says, “they didn’t buy the last album or the one before that, and all they had to pay was $10.”

It’s a Friday afternoon at Turing’s Manhattan headquarters, and Shkreli and his employees are preparing for a Christmas party that evening. Three executives play a video game. A woman shows Shkreli the cocktail dress she plans to wear. Shkreli had arranged for the rap star Fetty Wap to perform for his employees. “Typically you would say, ‘As an average fan, I can’t get Fetty Wap to give me a personal concert,’ ” he says. “The reality is, sure you could. You know, at the right price these guys basically will do anything.”

Shkreli wants more artists to make private albums for him. He figures they could use the money, and he will let them do whatever they want. “It’s almost like the instructions to the band are, ‘Do your best work, however much time it takes, and never compromise anything for me,’ ” he says. “ ‘I just want to hear what you’ve got.’ ”

He hasn’t listened to*Once Upon a Time in Shaolin*yet. He’s saving that for a time when he’s feeling low and needs something to lift his spirits. “I could be convinced to listen to it earlier if Taylor Swift wants to hear it or something like that,” Shkreli says. “But for now, I think I’m going to kind of save it for a rainy day.”

Case in point more people seem to be buying Loompa Farms gear after he lowered his price from $200. Same with the Swamp Boys. When they do buy 1 get 1 free for their $200 packs they sell out quicker.

That alone should be an indication your seeds cost too much.

I went into a hysterical laugh and gave then the ol bird when I went to Loompas Tent and they said $300 a pack...

Yeah I saw Loompa was charging 107 at SVOC. Much better indeed. Those UnderFoo seeds became tempting once again :)

I had no idea they where charging $300 a pack at the cups? I figured that was the one place that they would cut a break being direct and all.

A kind soul hooked up some Yeti F4s he made from three packs. I will dig through someday. Have heard good things about the Underdog.

I have been averaging -$3 per seed lately and the quality and selection has never been better. But even at those prices I decided for the most part just to stop collecting random gear. Fuck the bs make seeds trade with friends that do the same.

I dunno. $100 or so for 10-12 regs or half a dozen fems is somehow the upper limit of what I can wrap my head around.

I say that because I really want to try Kali Mist. I don't know anybody who grows it & I'm confident that CO commercial growers won't let it go the distance to get it right.

They do alright with 8 week strains but it doesn't pay for them to grow long flowering varieties at all.

Romberry from Freedom of Seeds. 5 Regular for $35.

Apollo from TGA. Was 5 Regular for $45.

Come close to being as good as other exceptional seeds that might be priced higher.

Make F3's and you'll have enough GOOD variety to forget about seeds that have the possibly inflated prices.

It worked out that way with the Apollo.

Haven't had a male Romberry recently, so no Romberry F3's.

Follow your dreams I guess...Maybe you just need to get it out of your system. There are worse ways to spend 100 bucks.

I get 12 fem seeds and some freebies for my $90.

1 seed will grow 1 plant and allow me to clone it.

Or for $90 you can get two eighths at a local club.

Just my $90 :plant grow: looking for a keeper

I may never actually do it. I have several other batches of seeds from Ace, CBG, No Mercy, ISP, Esko & Mandala that were much better priced & likely quite good. Also QM from Delicatessen.

Right now I'm germing some double fun for backyard grower friends to see how it does in our climate.

I may not live to see it, but the seed biz will change radically once we get past the uptight bullshit & cannabis cultivation moves outdoors where it belongs. Backyard growers, real gardeners, won't be looking for keepers to clone but rather consistent high quality cultivars the same way they buy any other kind of seeds.

What's the price of a pack of seeds off the rack at the nursery or via the internet?

I figure it'll be like that eventually once cannabis & cannabis seeds are truly legal.

Let me respond to earlier posts:

I brought up bodhi as a real breeder, not as a price gouger. My point was there are real breeders out there, and their genetics are worth 300.....even if they don't charge that much. Not that hard to understand people........

Anybody that wants to hear from science on the matter, from a world renowned, John Kempf who is a leading crop health consultant and designer of innovative soil and plant management systems. It's an hour long lecture, with knowledge of why and how superior seeds are valuable scattered throughout the hour. Listen and learn why superior grown seeds produce plants with higher vigor and yields.

I will shed a tiny amount of light on the subject.

If you were to grow an og kush clone, and the plant was grown in poor health, then pollinated with a male (lets call it BlueDream) would that plant produce the same quality seeds as an OK kush plant pollinated with BlueDream yet grown to perfection?

What's the answer? Listen to the video and lets discuss.
