3 gallon or 5 gallon ?

i have tried damned near every pot size set up for dirt grows that you can imagin. although i'm using 2 gall bags in flower this round, i have concluded that 3 gall bags are the best all around solution. i too veg for 2 months or however long it takes the flowering babes to finish and if there are any negative effects to them being root bound, it isn't enough to concern me. just feed them regularly and they thrive. if you have a genetic that doesn't get very big, i'd much rather have 2 in 3 gall bags than one in a 5. even repotting 3 times, when they get into a 5 gall pot, there is so much dirt the roots are not in, i consider it a waste of space and dirt. i just gently rip the roots apart when i transplant them, they thrive. love the weed!! :)
i realize others think differently but it works best for my situation.

due to lack of space in the veg closet, i keep them in 1/4 to 1/2 gall bags until they go into flower. i used to only grow 14 at a time but i've gone insane and am flowering 21 right not. i have several nice phenos and wanted to grow them all out again. the flower room is only 5' x 5.5' by 11' high. it's tight but they are all doing well.

i usually have 4 genetics flowering at a time so i prefer more plants to bigger. in my state, they don't count the number of plants, they count the total weight of what you are growing, seeds, stems, roots and all. i'm way over the weight limit for a heavy felony this round. the fucking growing bug has me in it's grasp!

I have a question that hopefully some of you can answer. Recently I was browsing the posts like usual, and I can't remember which post in specific, but someone stated something that got me thinking.

They said if you transplant into a new pot and trigger right away or even a few days to a week later, your plant will waste energy growing roots to fill up the new soil and won't produce as large of buds in the end. They also went on to saying that the pot should be filled with roots thoroughly, but not root-bound to get the largest yeild. Is there any truth to this?

I always thought that a plant would benefit from transplanting into a larger pot when being triggered. I understand usually a week or two of veg should be given to let the plant take root into the new soil, but to limit the pot size when rooting doesn't seem logical to me.

I thought I would addd to this thread instead of starting a new one as it is still on topic. Thanks for any info you can give on this subject. I hope I havn't been doing things wrong for years without knowing about it.
