−63.0 °C

On February 3, 1947, the record-low temperature for continental North America was recorded in Snag: −63.0 °C (−81.4 °F).

THAT'S a cold breeze. No one goes to work.. or anywhere else.

It's unofficialy been down to -74 f. at my old cabin on the Tanana River, the winter of 1989/1990. A cold mo'fo, that winter was.

I was fortunately living down in SE Ak at the time, and even across from the Ocean, literally across the road from it, on Prince of Wales Island, in the Village of Klawock, we were -10 f. that same time period. Very cold for the 'temperate' SE Alaska Panhandle in that specific location.
--------------------------
Currently -7 f. on the mercury and glass thermometer on the front porch, away from the building's 'heat envelope'. Feels like -12 f., but checked, and, nope, just -7 f.

Minus 17 f. as of 2 hours ago, outside the heat envelope of the building, on the mercury and glass thermometer.

S'posed to be in the minus 20 to minus 31 f. range for most of the next week, lows and highs. We'll see.

Going down into the lower forties here tonight.
Cold enough that a pan of water on the stove at
a low boil helps keep it warmer in here.
A good night to make up new batches of feed
for the hummer feeders. They go though it
much more quickly as it gets colder out.

Not too bad today 29F this morning, high today 31. Later this week the cold wind blows in a chance for an impactful winter storm and we go down to 0 F with some wind chills! Get the pipe cleaned up, going to need it to stay warm. :smoke:

Again, thank you all for posting. LOL

Can someone please post a picture of a snow covered highway with wrecks and old people freezing? Thanks

It's been a semi drought here in for the last year. Suppose to snow this week with slowly dropping temps down below 0F. 8" they are threatening us with and 25 mph winds. Just got the best rain of the last 3 months last week that we needed. It's been 5 years since a flood though and about time. Winter is when we usually get it..
