I decided a long time ago that when it comes to small scale and low watts, LST is good, Scrog is better, and SOG is best. I need to make a better veg chamber, right now its just a trash can turned upside down with a CFL in the top lol.

Ohh and Frankenstein, what kind of ballast lamp and reflector do you use?

Wow you guys are good at this, every one of you. I havent seen a bad 250w grow in all these pages and all the links in the posts of this whole thread for that matter lol, and believe me i spent 12 hours just lurking around lol.
250 is the perfect size;
not to small,
makes nice buds
not to big
cheap to run,
cheap to buy,
run fairly cool,
Can yield alot (enough for a year after 3 months in most cases for the average person), Can run multiple cycles for high usage too lol. I cant see a better size for a stealth dresser or cabinent from millspride or whatever brands
Anyway i am rambling. thanks to TML for the warm welcome, much appreciated

ok I'm going with a 250watt hps. But does anybody think its worth to buy a 175watt mh light for the veg?

People show what is good lol, I've grown with CFLs in past and a lot has gone wrong.

Your defiantly right about the 250 being a perfect size for most peoples personal use though, thats why I just bought one.

personally after all i know now that would be an awesome idea. I am going to go with the 250w Lumatek digital ballast so i can run mh and hps at different stages. Heck id buy the 175 use it for a few weeks, change to the 250, then the last 2 weeks of flowering blast it with the 175 and 250 at the same time. Heck thats a good idea lol only a few more bucks on the bill. shit im rambling again lol
So in short yes i think that is a good idea, but i was just making sure u knew about lumatek, no im not a salesman, just an eager will be customer that cant wait to start

i looked around and seen some systems that don't have a remote ballast but you can use a mh or hps bulb in it.

Are you planning on vegging one crop and flowering another at the same time? If you are then getting a second light makes sense. Otherwise, just use one light. You're 250 watt HPS is going to be better than a 175 watt MH, even with the spectrum difference.

If you want a second light I would just get another 250 in whatever bulb you like. If you just want to veg under MH and flower under HPS, then get a digital 250 watt ballast and run one or the other depending on where you are with your crop.

Or you could just get a CMH bulb and both grow and flower with the same bulb. No d/e-ballasts allowed though. That's not to say you can't do both with normal bulbs.

I could not agree more on the CMH recomendation. I have vegged and flowered under them for many years now. Granted I ususally run 2x400w for my flowering space, but the 250w does very well! I have two 250w ballasts and 4 cmh bulbs (2 vert 2 horiz) just waiting for me to add more space. There is no comparable option and if you have a HPS ballast, no good reason not to use the cmh!

is that a joke about the 2500 watt replacement? no hydro shop in their right mind would substitute a 250 watt order for 2500 watts... hell i dont see anyone around here with a 2500 watt light.

I'm running a 250W hps right now, only 5 days in from planting, though, so I've got a long ways to go.

Hope I can get something decent. Thanks for the thread :)
