Thought I would add an update:

I have four plants in flower at the moment. The oldest is a KC33xMasterKush. She is 48 days into flowering and no signs of maturing. She is not a an early strain to be sure. Her leaves have longer, thinner fingers which leads me to believe that she is a 8-9 week strain or longer.

She is somewhat lacking in bulk too. It could be grower error but I am sure I have not done anything to cause this.

I have an AK48 that is 9 days behind her at 38 days and a Mendocine bagseed that is the same age. The AK and the MBS are looking much further along then the KC33. In fact I expect to harvest the AK before the KC judging by looks. I have not looked at the trichs yet as I see no need. And while on the trichs, the KC is not very frosty. I am concerned this is going to be a waste of time, space and energy.

The fourth is an AK clone at day 19.

What was the yeild difference between the 9 and 12 grow. Keep us updated.

I haven't had a good sog grow with 12 plants yet. I'm hoping for at least 4 ounces.

Just had 4 of 4 beans show life, moved them to soil, and added another 2 for good measure. 2 feminized grapefruit and now 4 hindu-kush x skunk#1. However my growbox isn't quite ready, and I've just done my back in, so I need to improvise.

I'm using a similar design to Red Greenery's 150W cab, only with more fans to counter the extra heat from a 250W, and it's limited to a 18"x22"x50" grow area. I'm waiting on my glass shield, and havent finished lightproofing my box yet, so I'm hoping to veg them along on a few 13w (60w?) CFLs until my back gets better, and I have the glass shield and can finish off the box. The scrubber can wait, as can some other minor details.

I have a day or two to get things ready as best as I can before they break the soil. Will the CFLs hold the fort for a week or two? I'm not sure if at 13Ws (60w candescent equivilent) they'll manage. If necessary I can just give them some sunlight, either on the windowsill or the balcony. I was hoping to use the CFLs in the future for cloning etc. Or should I just shore up the light traps, run the 250W without a shield, and leave the seedlings further away from the light than I would otherwise?

Ok question to the 250'ers that have also used a 430 hps do the 250 nugsz get as dense and or thick as the 430 nugsz? And other than the obvious in wattage whats the most noticeable differences. Hello all,

Well I harvested the KC33xMasterkush from NRS. As I suspected weeks ago this was a waste of time and space.

The buds were very airy...granted this could be my fault but I have a good handle on temps and the environment.

They are indeed beautiful looking buds (pics tomorrow) with lots of purpleing. The trichs are plentyful but the smoke leaves me somewhat wanting. And the high does not last so I smoke more often.

Taste is ok, I will give it that.

4/10 for yield
8/10 for bag appeal
8/10 for smooth smoking
7/10 for the high

6.9 ... will not be growing this strain out again. I have 6 seeds I will give away.

Now for NRS seeds, I have grown out and have a mom of AK48...thats good smoke for the money. I have had some local Mendocino strains that the AK rivals.

SO, for the record...the KC33xMasterkush was a disappointment.

the up side is I have some AK48 at 56 days today and a Mendocino strain (unknown genetics but I have sampled this smoke) called Mendocino Bagseed or MBS. It smells like road kill skunk spincter to me... not at all like the fruity smells I usually get. Truely repulsive yet strangely attractive. I had a very small sample bud from her the other day....she is most promising. Sadly I did not take cuts but I have about 10 beans of this in storage.

Hello all,

I harvested my MBS Mendocino Bag Seed. It smells like rancet meat and skunk. Now it was reputed to be some fine buds and from what I remember it was quite a nice buzz. You never know what going to come out of Mendocino.

I had a taster last week and she was wonderful.

She is trimmed and drying-5 days or so...

Anyway she is covered in greasy trichs and purpled up nicely

The final weight was 24 grams. b The smell turned into a coffee/hash smell and the taste is excellent. Not a bad find for a bagseed-wished I had cloned this one...oh well, I have many seeds maybe I will get lucky again.

saw this thread and had to join in , just got my 250watter today with a built in switch to go from mh to hps when the time is right. finally got my grow setup and got 4 seedlings under 40w of flouro's for the first week before i hit em with the mh. this will be my second grow, first was under flouro's the whole time an the harvest was weak to say the least. I'll try to get some pic's up soon of my setup :wink:

My 250W setup is pretty much finished now, just need to wait for the little ladies to grow up and bear fruit. The dimensions are about 45x55x135.





If and when I move I hope to expand into other half of the cupboard, setting up something for mothers and clones. In the mean time it's a good decoy, we use the drawers and right side just to store shit, and the kids are none the wiser. Right now I'm working on some Skush and feminized Grapefruit, my first grow in about three years. Here's the best looking seedling, a Skush.



The entire grow is cooled by 4 x 120mm PC fans, all 33 cfm by Scythe, well known among PC geeks.



Temps are currently a stable 2 degrees above room temps with them running on halfspeed on a 6 Volt adapter. Two of them cool the lightbox, the other two work the growbox and a homemade carbon scrubber. I sleep 1 foot from the grow, and I hate noise when I'm sleeping, I even unplug our oil heater because of its timer when we sleep, but even at full speed these fans are virtually inaudible, and I've mounted them without any rubber/foam/silicon. Kudos to Red Greenery for the inspiration.

Afternoon everyone, I was wondering.. I have two 250w light rigs, ones mh the other is mh/hps, i'm growing in a wardrobe that measures around 29" wide 20" deep 71" tall, could I get away with installing both lights making 500w and keep temps reasonable with a 4" rvk exhaust and passive intake?

I know someones going to say try it and see but i'm thinking the temps are going to end up too high and wanted to know if anyone has tried or is currently using this before I go making more holes in my drobe.

I've had a 250 in a space 1/2 that size, alomst to the inch. Get the right fan and glass, either a cooltube or sheet(s) and it'll work good. Worse case, just use one at a time.

Thanks dasme I'm not sure if a 4" rvk would cut the mustard on it's own now, I think it might if I had a couple of cool tubes though which I don't this side of xmas sadly.

I was thinking on putting the mh in there for the last 4 weeks of flowering, how much do you all think this would affect yield? I know flowering with mh harvests are aparantly a fair bit more psychoactive than non mh flowered plants but surely they will add some weight to the crop?

assuming I can keep a handle on temps..

you know, you could put both lights in and only run both for a few hours of the day.
In veg, run the MH @ 16hours, somewhere in the middle add the HPS for 6hours.
In flower run the HPS for 12 and add the MH for the middle 4 hours.

This will add the UV and boost yeild. While mimimizing power and heat.
