Good job mate...
ever try your hand{lol} at "Noodlin"?
its catfishin ...kinda...without anything but your hand...
its a blast and very rewarding...kinda dangerous too ifin you get a bigun...
we do it here all the time in august when they start to spawn...

nice cat..

cheers

Noodlein has always been fun. The reason I quit was because of the cotton mouth snakes here.. It only takes one time of seeing a friend pull one out from under a rock wrapped around his hand and arm.. I don't noodle any more.

Noodlin' was fun............. "war stories", lol
I was a lil fella when I watched the "oldtimers" (long gone)
Then as a teen, I saw stuff like you described,,
I never was scared of them snakes, loved playin' with 'em.
(silly boy :bat: )
Course back then I was a fairly strong kid,, 215# or so,,
I aint so strong anymore,, down to 135-140# on good days.
I deal with mortality as I need to, riskin' life n limb fer a frikkin fish?
Ferget it!! :asskick:

Take Care,, Stay Safe............. "Iron"

Becoming a wise man in the older age eh?

There are lots of things I don't do now that I used to do because I don't heal as well or quick..
Being a kid we thought we had super powers.. Now we know that those powers disolve with age.. LOL

:joint: Some of my best memories are of fishing with my grandfather at Santee, used to own a house right on the water. It's good to see that others enjoy good old S.C. . I love catfishing at night with good friends. Also great to see that others in S.C. enjoy some of my favorite pasttimes , including the one we share here. I have pictures as a child of me standing next to channel cats bigger than me, those fuckers get biggg! :smoweed:

hieagle420/resinryder- Have you guys ever fished for stripers in the damns in SC? I would catch ones the size of your leg all day long. I miss South Carolina!!

Nice cat!

Any of y'all ever do any carp fishing? I know... carp? :pointlaug

I lived on a lake not long ago that had 20+lb grass carp in it. They were a blast on 4 and 10lb line. You could chum them up with dog food an put a piece of bread on a bare hook and they would take it off the top like a freight train. Much fun. There were also 10-15lb cats that would come up at the same time. I swear those big cats hitting the top sounded just like a big snook.

Just wanted to show off my catfish. This fine specimen was caught 7-27-05 on the Black River near Kingstreet, SC, using cut bait while night fishing. Put up a very nice fight but you can see the resulting conclusion of the fight.Weighed in at just a little over 23 pounds. She was enjoyed in a delicious stew and had some coated in a flour cornmeal mix and deep fat fried. This baby fed 14 people and still had enough for the next day for dinner. Couldn't help it, just had to brag a little.

Very nice.. looks like a channel cat. There simply is NOTHING with fins better to EAT than a fresh water channie!!

..of course, I'm NOT talking about farm raised, that breath their own wastes when they are raised in ponds by the hundreds of thousands...and then sold to resturants...

I'm talking FRESH runnig-water catties!! :D

My uncle was "noodling" champ for MANY YRS in his county.... some ppl call it grabbin...

It is just a way to FISH... you just wade the shallows of your favorite creek and feel up inside old logs and recessess in the bank underwater... when you find a cat... you just reach in his MOUTH and grab.. he clamps down hard (auto-reflex) and you drag his ass out!! :D

THIS cat almost took my uncle to Davy Jones's locker...they had a death duel on the edge of deep water.. my uncle said he was VERY worried for a while but finally won out after a terriffiic BATTLE!!

..JUST a measly 89 pounder..

Saddly, it was a "mud-cat" ... not that good to eat..OK.. but nothing to get excited about!! :D

catfisherman, what are some of the baits you use? i myself go to this pond and catch small yellowbellies (baby catfish) they work pretty good caught a 15lb shovelhead in october, also use shiners and sometimes israeli carp. also use bluegill or warmouths sometimes but i was just wanting to know what some of you use. i love gone fishin when the suns goin down and take a friend and smoke herb and talk all night while tryin to catch the big one.

My family has a place on Kerr rez. above lake Gaston. Certain times of year when their running people flock to the Damn to catch there limit...on the lake Gaston side where it's set up for fishing up & down the wall....great memories brudda

I can't wait for the ice to thaw. When I feel like fishing me and my daughter grab our poles and sit on our private dock and fish for either large mouth bass or catfish. My pond is chock full of both of em.
Too bad we don't eat them, we just catch and release.
