Yeah mate I'm pretty happy with the PLLs so far! These are still the 4000k and I'll be flowering under them as well. I have a 23w 6500k cfl hanging close to the middle too, I think that's helping. I try to keep it all on the same level and it all grows slowly but evenly, and bushy. :D

The kelp (Seasol) seems to help too, the cytokinins spaz out the new growth cells in good ways, but I've backed off on that now so it doesn't get too vigourous or stretchy in flower. If you run chem hydro, try Seasol. In the past I've used the stuff as ph up so it get's a regular tiny dose, but this time I've just hit it a couple of times as heavy feedings. And a couple of foliar sprayings too. Might give her one today. Don't do it near flower though as it'd cause stretch. Was telling my friend of my results and he said it best - it electrifies the plant.

What I'd really like to do is have 3 x 55w PLLs, and 1 x 24w daylight PLL in the other socket, but I have no idea if that will work. Curiosity is gonna get the better of me any day now so I hope it doesn't explode. :(

Good luck with yours cheese.

Looking at all the diagrams provided by fulham.... none list multiple wattage lamps so...... heh. :D Doubt it will be good.

Awesome work there bub :) Keep it up!

Thanks man! No exploding lights for me then :)

I tried buying more 55w bulbs but it's like the store was just dead. They took my order, nothing got sent, nobody ever replied, so I got my money back. Wierd.

I'm gonna try to post some pics of my seedlings in the next few hours because I need some help, so if you're around...heh.:

Not sure why you want to run a 24w in one slot but it will work and it won't explode. I have overdriven plenty of fluros and PL-L's take lots of abuse. I have run 24w @ 55w for long durations with no explosions of any kind. I once blew a 55w running @ 96w but it turned out to be a weak bulb, later trials were successful.

Really? You are a hive of information, dude! I kind of thought it would auto adjust to power the 24w as normal. So it would be overdriven to 55w then? That sounds interesting.

I wanted to do it because I want some daylight spectrum in there. I have a 23w daylight CFL in place of the 4th 4000k 55w pll. But it hangs lower and I dunno...I just don't want my grow contaminated by inferior lighting, hahaha. Just kidding CFL guys.

Anyway, the 24w daylight pll is an old bulb by the looks, but still bright. It's been run very hot in it's aquarium life and the hot bit at the base is dark grey. Does this raise any safety concerns or should I just go for it? I don't actually have Fulham ballasts by the way! I couldn't really make out any brand name on the ballasts but I have photos so I'll look at the stickers again if that's gonna be an issue.

Pic post comin' up :)

Here be the "Outdoor" seedlings. They're about 10 days old, in seed raising mix that doesn't have many/any nutrients. So far they've been fed with kelp and light chem veg nutes. I've been trying to keep a good hold on the water they get - let it dry out but not crazy dry, just right I would think. Here is a good one. Stout, short, thick stem, maybe a little slow but otherwise great, right?

picture.php

But a lot of them have signs of this, which I'm pretty sure is over watering, right?:

picture.php

Man I let those fuckers dry right out but one morning after watering, they were all doing the droopy thing like that. So I just don't know what is happening here? Any opinions?

Here is a mongy one I'm coming to like:

These seedlings went in the cupboard today and the tent is decommissioned...for now.

Thanks for any help! :rasta:

Gave them a feed and a foliar of just seasol today with heaps of runoff. I think that'll be the last. Everything is looking peachy :joint:

Damn peachy :) Will take some cuts soon. I've been thinking about installing an adjustable shelf at the rear where P2 and the seedlings are. It's very awkward trying to balance things at the right height way back there.

Lol I just had a thought - A SECOND SLIDING TRAY at the rear! It makes perfect sense!

Or even better a second sliding tray WITH ADJUSTABLE HEIGHT!!!

Nodes - they're like this all the way to the ground:

I noticed P2 has finally pumped out some official real leaves:

Apart from the seedlings it's all going great. Growth seems on the slow side but that's a-ok with me and I've been encouraging that with lighter feedings. I can't believe how tight the nodes are, I wasn't expecting it so thick. I think it only appears slow to me because there are so many growth tips to support, and the roots are still expanding vigourously. What do you guys think? What sort of kelvin should I put in if I want to encourage a bit stretchier growth in veg? The 3 x PLLs are 4000k so it would be in addition to that. Or should I take bulbs out? Thanks.

My pal came round and I explained the manhole thing and my plans and showed him the noise the fans make etc and he agreed it should not be any problem. Feels good to know I'm not fooling myself about my chances.

Friday and no fans/lights/glass cutters/goodies have turned up yet. Hopefully christmas comes next week :)

wow those nodes are super tight..looking good man....tons of bud sights. you might end up needing to reduce the lumens to get stretch in veg...in my experiance even if you have alot of red light they still dont stretch much if the bulbs are real close or you have a ton of light. you could either reduce the lumens a little or move it real far away for a day or 2....might not be able to move it too far away in the cab though huh?

I've considered throwing an incandescent in to help with stretch, but haven't tried it yet.

First I want to say that's a bunch of awesome looking plants there. :D

That's a tray of coco that you can't move the plants around in.... right?
Dunno about you but I'd think about flipping to 12/12 right away since those plants are going to explode! Don't change your spectrum of light either, you're going to need to keep things short. :D

In about 20 days of 12/12, clip some of the lower growth to free up your fresh air-flow through the base of the plants. They'll appreciate it greatly. :D

Alright thanks a lot guys. Yes, the big plant is in approx 4 gallons of coco. I actually ended up throwing a scrog screen over it today, You are right Hydro, I think I should flip soon, I'll just assess how it takes to the screen first. The scrog was added cos it's growing too much off to the left and originally I only wanted the one huge plant in there, but now it looks certain I'll have to flower them all in there. So this will help keep it all seperate from the other plants.

I have to go ahead with the CS treatment as that was kind of the condition of getting the Pures. P2 will be treated (sprayed outside the cab) then replaced after each treatment and then it will all be a bit of an adventure after that point. I am hoping for several hundred seeds (more is good too) so it may just be a pollen free for all. This is more than an experiment, it's an investment so it's something I have to do. The treated P2 will not be smoked, only used for male pollen.

I noted on the CS threads that it's actually quite hard obtaining pollen from the pods as they're so female influenced, they cluster in the buds where they can't expand and pop, so I am expecting it to not be *fully* seeded. Depending on insulation timing, I may be able to isolate the treated plant and only fertilise a branch or three. This is obviously a much better way to do it.

Well the scrog is not the answer sadly :( It's too tight to trim under the screen and I didn't allow enough height for a screen in the first place, so I guess I have to rip it off and go back to LST...and probably supercrop at this rate. I will start 12/12 next switch and fasten my seatbelt. It should fit in okay with lst but it just makes it harder for me. I may re-orient the pot.

For a long time now, all the pics have been with the pot elevated 5" off the floor, so I have what you see, plus 5. And I can tie it down as far as I want on the bits that don't have the pot under it. It's a very skinny, tall pot! I'm an idiot cos I always praise broad squat pots.

I got my CS generator built:

:woohoo:

Will also have a bit more room when P2 gets the boot. I think I'll toss the seedlings in case they hermie or something.

:abduct:

Edit: HEY! I could run 11/13 to speed things up. It could take 10 - 11 days off the whole process, plus not use so much electricity. I think I will try this since it's all a big experiment.

Mr. ScrubNinja, Mr. ScrubNinja! (you should teach a science class with that name. Yes, I know it's not your real name).
Question-
Where can I get one of these?--
picture.php

I know you said you bought it second hand. Do you know it's original purpose? Grow light?
Please 'shed some light', ho ho.
Thank you!

Thank you guys, she's lookin' great :D I got word that the insulation guys are hopefully coming this week, but haven't had actual notice so it may go into next week or longer. Damn my house is cleeeaaan! I hope it happens friday so then I can set up an extra cab again and not end up with all seeded bud! I stopped spraying the CS to hopefully slow things down.

Jellyfish, it depends on your country and I'm not sure you can get them in the US if you're there. Here (in oz) you just go to the hydro store and buy one, it fucking rules after seeing you guys get all the S&Ps, Whisperfans, and all the other great products that don't seem to be available here

I think someone mentioned earlier it's called the Starlite or Starlight? Maybe that was the 2 bulb model. I know you can get the 2-bulb from HTG. Yeeep not a lot of help sorry. It doesn't have any brand names on it.

Thanks, mate. I'm not in Australia, but I have been, and I loved it. Nothing like waking up to the song of the kookaburra. Stay cool.
