Not a bad idea. Sometimes when plants have issues its not nutrients, it could be something else.
First thing I usually ask is how is the air flow? How about air exchange? Temps, including floor temp as maybe they re on the basement floor like my first grow. Environment plays a huge role in how the plants behave.

you can get calcium deficiency from low transpiration, or you can have reduced uptake of P from low root temps etc.

The best advice I ever got was to find grows I look up to and copy them. Do what they do, use what they use.
Coco is easy but I wouldnt have said that about using it as a beginner. Once you know how coco works its super easy and easy to correct when things go off.

My first run with panama took about 12 weeks on average. I think a few were done in 10-11 and a few were more like 12-13. The one I ended up keep as a clone wasnt flowered with the rest as i thought it was a male. It goes to 14 weeks although I have taken it earlier and it was excellent. In the case of the haze above, I only chopped it at 90 because the sugar leaves were starting to yellow and pull out of the colas easily when tugged on. Usually when that happens its a sign of bud rot but this time was not the case. So I learned something there and even if the results werent perfect it was worth doing. I will keep growing her and making crosses with her..

you should check out a user on here named FeelHaze

And a happy Thanksgiving to you!

Hey Chrono!

Happy Thanksgiving. Hope you are enjoying some great food.

I need to dial it in better. I have the lights at 50% so 280W. I think that should be fine tho they seem to respond well at 140W. I think the cold may have something to do with it. It's probably about 20C pretty consistently. I can't get it warm enough. That's why l stopped growing in winter. Maybe l should put a fan on the floor next grow.

I bought a box of coco soil with nutes a few years ago. Enough for four five gallon containers. Read that fast 5 times. I think l will give it a try. I hope l can get some of my seeds to germinate:). That's what started this seasons delay.

I miss being able to get ACE seeds directly. They have such great deals but only shipping now to UK and Europe. Seed shops l know of don't have sales like ACE. So l need to learn to grow seeds as a next journey. I thought l might have got some when l had that male appear in my PHXM grow. I didn't find any in the buds tho. I am still enjoying that. I hope the Panama can come far enough along to provide next year's smoke. Maybe it's an excuse to go to Spanibus!😄

Notwithstanding, l think there is much to dial in. But doable.

Thank you also for the send. FeelHaze has expressed my experience with store bought weed and hopes for more. This is why l started growing also. ACE seeds have been super fun to smoke and experience. So much to learn about these landraces.

How she looks today. So about 8 weeks. Leaves from today. I love that colour yellow 💛. You think l can getva couple more weeks?

Thank you again for your thoughtfulness and suggestions. I hope you are enjoying the day and long weekend!

"l need to learn to grow seeds as a next journey"

- its as simple as leaving a male in flowering tent - when you are ready to go for it dont hesitate to ask I can give you a few tips

"It's probably about 20C pretty consistently"

- thats a issue - it brings back memories of trying to grow in my basement. I stopped growing down there when I decided it wasnt worth the struggle and conditions being not so great sometimes. Everything is much better now that I can grow in a clean room with heat in the winter.
-using LED you pretty much want 85f lights on and about 10f degrees cooler at night, Thats the reason you cant crank the light. A full blast LED demands the leaf photosynthesize at optimal efficiency. The leaf surface temps come into play there as that is where the chloroplasts are. Since LED gives off very little infra red (heat) they dont warm the leaf surface the same way as HID does. Not only are HID lights hotter in the room they actually warm the plant.

"Most biochemical reactions only operate within a certain temperature range, and have an even narrower range in which the reaction proceeds most efficiently. If temperatures are too low or too high, the reactions proceed more slowly or not at all. Most of any plant's metabolism occurs within the leaf; for any given plant, there is an optimal leaf surface temperature range that maximizes growth and production of other desirable secondary metabolites such as resins, pigments, flavor-enhancing compounds and vitamins."

Check out this article:

"You think l can get a couple more weeks?"

- I think they look great especially for the temps there lets hope they can stay the course, they've made it this far

"Enough for four five gallon containers. Read that fast 5 times. I think l will give it a try"

well the number's 555-555-5555

I use straight coco from the brick, I hydrate it with full strength nutes. Its just a medium to give the roots something to hold on to and drink. By the sound of that stuff is its more like a potting soil blend, which is fine too. If theres any confusion: while coco can make a good addition to soil it also can be used as a stand alone medium which puts it into the soil-less category same as rockwool or perlite. They each have their own properties and caveats but are there mainly as a medium to give the plant somewhere to put its roots and to retain nutrient solution and microbe colonies etc

Hope you had a great TG. I had a nice one this year with lots of good food, friends, and family

Hey Chrono thank you as always.

That's some super info re leaf surface temperature. The leaves of the plants in your grows are always green 💚 and healthy. I think the heat may be playing a big role in my grows. I had to stop my winter grows because of that. I like to try and have the plants finish in October but my ability to germinate the seeds this year was way off. It really shows in the size of the other 2 plants. Even tho it was late

I decided to go for it anyway.

I can't get this house too warm generally over winter. I think the only way would be to put this old house inside a newer house.

I also think that the over feeding has done a bit of a number on the big plant 🪴. As you predicted. Even tho l am only feeding PH water since post. The leaves are getting some brown spots now instead of just the minion colour.

They do smell nice and l see some frost on them and they are getting a bit Tito Fuente mallet heavy. Hopefully dry by Christmas

If l can bring them in well It will be like Wellington describing the victory at the battle of Waterloo, ' it was a near run thing'.

Thank you for your insights as always. Some Sunday football and music is in order for today.

Hey check this out. This guy was using %8 light from incandescent bulbs in his commercial facility

I got this idea somewhere on the forums and decided to look back at this post from Antenna seeds. I think if you add a few incandescent bulbs at around %10 of the watts you are using you will see a marked difference. You can get low wattage appliance bulbs that fit a standard socket.

Thank you. Hey that's really cool...er.. warm! Is this why some folks use those strips of red diodes(?). There would also be more actual heat which would be great.

The buds are getting heavier and l have to wire them up! They smell is like menthol and .... my ability to describe smells is lacking. I just love the smell though. I would wear it as a cologne and add hints of cucumber. Obviously for daytime. We all know that citrus and pine make your night fine. There's room in the market for both colognes l believe.

Oh yes that reminds me of the Panama, menthol, minty, vaporous, not gassy but with fumes, I got a lot of that in the Bangi Haze as well actually. A bit more on the cologne side with the Bangi. That stuff smelled like old spice aftershave. Some of the most exotic terps Ive come across in there.

The light I built has a few strips with red diodes, I think it does help with leaf surface temps. I was going for the most complete spectrum possible so I made sure to include a few bars that had red/far red and blue diodes. My SIL rack lights work pretty good but my big light is king. One reason the SIL racks work so good is the fact that they are only medium efficiency really, they put out more heat than any newer LED on the market that I know of. Having good air circulation helps too. The ambient heat from the lights is scattered all around the tent rather than just hanging in the air near the extraction fan where it gets removed pretty quickly as it builds up.

Back in the day everyone was using HID so keeping things cool was the name of the game and massive airflow being the norm just as a side effect of trying to cool the tent. Now with most people buying LED but still following advice on how to run a HPS room. Most LED sellers aren't going to highlight this fact either, that you might actually have to heat your room now that you decided to save some $ using LED

I used to run two tents at a time and had them sharing airflow. When one tent was lights off, the other tent was lights on. I still had 100w heat mats on the tent floors and had the exhaust at minimum cfm but set to exchange at least the total cubic volume of the space once a minute. 3 times per minute is optimal.

So that's another thing you can do is lower your extraction rate, try to keep some of that heat in. As long as you are exchanging at least once per minute you should be ok

A heat mat with a temperature controller is my advice for starting seeds in cold weather. Just don't let anything get too hot. Seeds are too expensive to lose. Having it on a temp control was needed in my case, I tried using one without controller but it wasnt easy to get it right.

That's great to hear they're putting on some weight, let the stacking begin!

Straight and narrow path, you will get there.

Hey Chrono! Thank you. I like the idea of a heat matt. I have a very small Mammoth tent for seedlings. It has 2-3 Sunblaster lights 66400K@24w. It still is chilly tho and l have issues. I was using a pc fan in there and need another for next grow. Always yellowing with this setup. That's again why l always love how you keep your plants so healthy. I also think l need to use another fan in the big tent and change the setup. and totally refan the tent. I did turn the exhaust fan down to 1. But l am not getting the heat distribution you mention w/o fan. I also think the lights could be more dialed in height wise.

That 2 tent system is awesome 👌 solution.

I also need to figure out the cal mag thing. I have not been using it and l think to my detriment.

I hope all is well with you and thanks again for sharing this. I'll have to do a seed review of my inventory. I don't think any of the Bangi popped and might be out. This year was first time l had seed germination issues.

Best for now. Will post a couple of pics later.

So here is an update and a surprise
The plants are all still hanging in there. There is little left to do. I have been using 6-6.5PH water and dialed the lights back to help them deal with the stress.

I'm thinking letting the big one go for another week. The trichs look cloudy to me.

The surprise is that I found 3 seeds in one of my PHXM buds. It was the last bud in this jar and l have one jar left. Maybe find a couple more😻

Well well that is a pleasant surprise indeed and not a bad outcome at all. You got the best of both worlds, jars full of sensi and a successful pollination. Hopefully you get enough to play with and if not its a start, make more seeds next time, especially if the progeny looks good. Start a whole new family tree.

That bud looks killer. If you know what you're looking at that piece looks downright dangerous, The way you described the effects makes me think you will find some truly spectacular types in the seeds!

Its good to see the garden still running strong. Love that big girl in back looking like a Kraken.

Nice work man! You should be in for some great smoke to hold you over until the next project.

Thank you Chrono. I think l did get best of both worlds. I'll miss the haze when it's gone. Hopefully the seeds are viable.

I like the name kracken😄! The plant looks pure Jules Vern.

The bracken still does not seem ready. The white hair bits on the buds are still growing and l don't see any amber yet.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Those seeds look perfectly viable to me and I bet you will find some more in the rest of the jars

I think you should let the hairs turn a bit more and keep scoping the trichomes. You know what they say ride ‘‘em till the wheels fall off. You’ve done great so far!

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to you and yours. Hope you have a great one this year!
