Cater,

When I spoke to Nova, they had little cannabis data, or little data over all in actuality.

How did they come up with that number of 80%? Did you send them a whole plant, roots and all?

The S. Africans in Stellenbosch perfected that science years ago looking at the partitioning of nutrients, but that was a bit more invasive, measuring wood, bark, roots, leaves, branches, fruit, seeds, etc.... not sure that one can do that with sap.

Care to elaborate a bit more on the Nova info?

As long as a plant is emitting new roots it is taking up calcium.... it is not a jump from one element to another. It is relative concentrations and more Ca allows one to have more K present at higher conductivity compared to less Ca.... The SAR concept at the soil level...

Paying it forward...

Dude, 10 days after mid bloom 80% leaves 20% for the last part of bloom on because as you said New root tips are being produced but at senescence all energy is going to ripening. Cannabis wants a seed, when it isn't seeded it focus on essential oils.

Just look at what nova says about cell structure .. goodnight

So you are saying that they expect 20% of the Calcium to be picked up from the roots for the remainder of the Ca flower requirement from 10 days after mid bloom and on.

Seems reasonable.

That last 20% if going to be a bitch if folks go overboard with K at this point.

But that's the whole thing this is where the demand for K goes up in the plant Ca determines the number of cells and K expands the cell size so that's when you want to blow up the tire so to speak of you follow the nova controls method which I do

Someone had a good article posted in the front of the AEA thread and then it disappeared, it was about the partitioning on nutrients over time in Cannabis. Anyone have a copy still?

I need more detail than that, i just re-skimmed the first 15 pages of the AEA thread and dont see what you are refering to.

Avenger,

It was a great article with a graphic of how the elements stacked in cannabis over time. It was on the first page of the thread there with all those Kempf videos.

essential oils? does that mean that if I top-dress with chocolate and bacon my buds will be extra greasy?

My Ph on soil is 6.8, water is 7.9 at the moment (City water through a Hydrologic Tallboy). In my area in Oakland, Ca, I can do 20+ plants, but have a limited space (about 400sq.ft.).

Looking forward to that result Oak! Love to hear how you made your calculations...

At a pH that high, I would be worried a bit about what is in that water, bicarbonates are a big issue and most never even look at it. It is the invisible calcium sink. Another hurdle to jump to get enough Calcium to the plant.

Try the gypsum spiking. It is a game changer.

Any updated pics of the C99?

The Cindy's are hard to picture. They are slammed together in the large greenhouse. I will be harvesting them soon, and when I do I plan to get some proper pictures up. That way I don't have to listen to the trolls talk about how it's not exactly c99 and I paid too much for a pack ext ext. Tired of that bs. So, give me a week or so here, and I will have a nice c99 update. Thanks for staying tuned.

Jidoka - any way you would be willing to post a picture of your Killer Queen and some info about her? I popped a pack from Rez from about 5-8 years ago. Got one stand out female, that was just heads and shoulders above her siblings, really night and day. She is the craziest, most vigorous plant I have ever popped. Buds are footballs, and smells of sweet candy. I will try to get a picture of mine up, but she is hard to picture being in the greenhouse. Once buds come down, I will take better pictures.

Maybe one day a side by side, cut for cut? If my cuts makes it in the bag appeal.

http://www.organicauthority.com/organic-gardening/7-reasons-your-garden-will-love-cocoa-mulch.html

i love using this stuff. the fungal populations are amazing mixed with neem cake! just like chocolate , smells amazing. great for pathways and better for mulching. just dont want the dogs munching it all down. :tiphat:

The fugal growth is out of control with that stuff. I would like to know if it's the same species of mold that effects cannabis. I always worried in the past, but I bet you are right on the money. Stuff smell like heaven. Like gardening next to a Ghirardelli plant.

i used it this year on all the full seasons and deps in michigan. the beneficial fungus, bugs and worm population make this one of my favorite mulches yet, for certain applications of course.

a bit of the cocoa shell and a shitload of straw or similar seem like a great combo for a non living mulch outdoors.
