HM#1

Thanks Paddi, I've enjoyed popping into your thread this year as well, I am sure we will all have the smoke we need for the comming year, and variety is the spice of life!

Well it looks like I will eat my words about expecting to see mold in my largest C99 x OR95(HM#1), she seems to be 100% free of mold at this point. When I found mold in her similarly bushy sister, I immediately started to worry about this plant, and her extremely crowded buds. But no worrys yet!
She lives in the sunniest spot of all my plants this year, and she has the best air movement, which I think is one of the reasons has she resisted mold.
She has also started showing sensitivity to the cold, and has quite a bit of purple forming in the leaves, the increased exposure to the sky she has brings sunshine on Summer days, as well as cool air on Autumn nights.

After I took the pictures, I harvested a few buds from the more cowded clusters of buds, to fill my stash and help the plant continue to resist mold.
A check on the Trichromes shows hardly any Amber color yet, and some of the inner buds still look like they have a long way to finish.

I took several of the more mature looking buds about 10 days ago, to evaluate the high, and fill my daily smoking stash. The bud picked at that time seems to be fairly potent already, one medium bowl seemed to be good for three guys. I will evaluate this new harvest and see how that span of time has affected the high, I'm sure it will be even better.

I won't harvest any more from this plant until I see mold or the trichromes start showing a bit more Amber. Even when I do harvest again, I will probably ony take the most mature looking buds, and leave the young to mature with the cool nights.

This is my favorite time of year, colorfull plants and bud tests! :rasta:
More to come :jump:

its looking really good!
really good! what a huge cluster of buds, a very nicely formed plant for sure!
i hope my weather will be better next year, i had to harvest a bunch of plants due to frost damage.

but its looking good anyway, not as fat as yours, but if i can keep the rest of them out there in the cold rain untill two weeks from now they would be close to it.
good work, I really like the look of that strain, especially that its fairly large and conical in a symmetrical way, seems indica dominant to me.
whats the stone like?

take care

diggity, caligreen, Neptune, farmaz2, alijah, thanyou so much guys!

weedsmoker- Yes, I have a little mold in one of my small plants so far, and a very small spot on one of the larger ones.
My fertilisers were put in the gound before planting and consisted of llama manure, Kelp meal, and Dolomite lime. I have been giving Miracle grow Bloom formula since right before blooming started in late July.

stoneshaper- The plant directly above is Indica dom, as are all my plants, but this strain also has many Sativa traits compared to my other strains.
This plant in particular is not a good example of how the strain grows, she mutated and became very bushy due to shock from light periods changing from indoors to out, along with two of her sisters, but all the younger generations I planted under normal lighting later have actually grown with a more open, mold resistant sativa structure, which is what I actually want.

So far I have tested two of the C99 x OR95, and freind and I agree that the stone is good, kind of a clean headed body high. I'll wait until I can test more of the mature buds futher along here before I elaborate too much.

Salutations BC and all others. This year is almost over. Nice looking plants you have BC-full plants, big buds. Here in the midwest we have been getting rain at the rate of approx 1-2 inches/week. High humidity and temps ranging from 40's to high 70's.......as you may have guessed not the ideal situation. Most of my 5+ lbs are in and curing or drying, but have had some mold, although very minor. Final weight is not in yet but I think I will have one plant tht will top a pound. This particular monster had 7 main branches after topping twice. It broke just below branching point during a storm in Aug. I pounded in a couple of snow/electric fence posts and tied her off best I could.....low and begold, only a few leaves died. At about 2/3 cut and dried, and curing, I have two coffee cans packed tight-full of 1-2 inch buds.
I would like to thank you for all the great tips and tricks over the last few years, It has greatly helped in producing good quality and quantity. I have used some of your soil ammendment and H20 tips for low maint. plots that have worked great. Kind of a plant and forget stratigy that paid off in plants with buds so heavy they were leaning over almost 90 Deg.
Keep up the good work, your tips and tech's are timely and helpful.

Stay safe my friend!

Lookin great BC! Thats one hefty head on the C99xOG95! Good idea thinning it out a bit... :yummy:

A friend of mine harvested his only 2 plants this weekend.... They were ripe but had minimal amber trichomes too.... Could have asked me and got more yield this season, but thats how the new growers tend to work it seems..... :D

From seed to bud: The story of HM#1

From seed to bud: The story of HM#1

Now that harvest is withen a couple of weeks, I thought it might be fun to do a little Biography of my star plant, HM#1/C99 x OR95. This will show her progression from start to finish.

Feb 14th: Starting seeds
77102-14-07_Starting_seeds_025-med.jpg

77102-14-07_Starting_seeds_021-med.jpg

I started seeds between damp sheets of paper towel stuck in a zip-lock, and tacked on the wall in a warm place. Of the three varieties I grew this year, the C99 x OR95s were the first to sprout, in about 2-4 days.
77102-17-07_Starting_seeds_001-med.jpg

After the seedlings sprouted, they were placed in 16oz solo cups and were kept under 16/8 light cycle indoors, under a shop fluoro.
March 28th- Transplanting to gallons, and moving outside
77103-28-07_029-med.jpg

When the weather was warm enough for the plants to go outside in a cold frame(mini-greenhouse), I transplanted HM#1/C99 x OR95(thats her in the pic) and her sisters into 1 gallon planters with either Miracle grow potting soil, or a local Organic pre-fertilised soil.
April 16th- Vegging outdoors
77104-13_16_18_-07_001-med.jpg

Here HM#1/C99 x OR95 and her sisters veg in the warm April sun, by this time most of the older plants had shown their sex due to the light cycle changing from their start indoors to outdoors. HM#1/C99 x OR95 was the first to show sex of all.

April 25th- Planting time
7710HM_plot_1_4-25-07_014-med.jpg

7710HM_plot_1_4-25-07_015-med.jpg

Here are pics showing the planting of HM#1/C99 x OR95, she was the largest plant at this point, and the first to show sex, so I gave her the best spot I had scouted out at the time, lots of sunhine!

June 21-
77106-21-07_HM_1_wilting.jpg

This is the first time I saw wilting on this plant, the drier and warmer than usual conditions this June/July made my plants water needs higher than I had estimated.

July 9th- Another wilting picture
77107-09-07_HM_1.jpg

July 23rd-
77107-23-07_HM_1_C99x_OR95-med.jpg

By this time I had the watering needs figured out, she went from recieving 2 gallons twice a week to 4 gallons twice a week. You can see that from here on the mutated, super bushy condition starts, I would say it was a result of the wilting problems, except that all her strain sisters of the same age have the same conditions.

August 2nd- Blooming time
77108-2-07_HM_1.jpg

77108-2-07_HM_1_bud.jpg

She was the first plant to show blooming this year, and she started showing a couple weeks earlier than I am used to. Notice how she keeps getting bushier, stem growth has pretty much stopped, but leaves and bud sites keep forming at a fast rate at the nodes.
