2000-2400watt Sealed/non sealed grow room construction....HELP in Design

You only need canopy punching power when you have an uneven canopy. If you get a nice even canopy no matter how much light you have it can't punch through.

five 600w lights will outyield three 1000w lights every grow of the year.

If you put all these lights on light movers, you end up using the same amount of wattage and get the same results given the light distances are changed to compensate.

(5) 600 watt hoods = 3k watts
(3) 1k watt hoods = 3k watts

Now look at costs of system to buy.

Even with an EVEN canopy, you should have fans which allows the 1k watters to penetrate deeper to the lower branches than a stationary 600 watt hood. Canopy heights really do not matter unless you have no air flow moving over your plants and then practically nothing really gets to the lower branches.

light movers are a joke.

I have an even canopy and I have fans and I tell you nothing grows below my canopy. These are with my 1000w hps lights. I also own a lot of 600w hps lights and will be switching all my lights over to 600 watters. I am going ten 600w lights instead of six 600w lights.

These are my four 1000w lights. Not bad, but I don't need the penetration of the 1000w lights. Six 600 watters are going to replace these four 1000w. the other side of the garden already has 600w lights.

Light movers are indeed a joke and a pain in the ass.

I have seen 1k and 600 watt set-ups on soil and hydro and the rule of thumb still applies. More light = more buds.

Controlling the heat is the key.

If you have the heat under control, then go for the power.

It also depends a lot on your style of growing. The way I grow the 600w lights are a better option. Plus we are talking about the same ammount of light here, just spread out. I think if everything is optimal watt per watt 600w lights can not be beat. But like I said before it is a personal preference thing. But I don't see anyone using the 1500w bulbs... I have been growing great herb with 1000w lights for years. I just like 600w lights better now.

yeah technically five 600w lights puts out more light than three 1000w lights. 600s put out more lumens per watt. Plus that light is spread out more even over the canopy. I just think you can't go wrong. The only downfall is the additional cost.

I agree pico for flowering plants that size the penetration of 1000W is wasted, you are better of with 600's thats a nice even canopy by the way.If the flowering plants are going to exceed 3 ft in height I've found 1000's to be great, never tried 600's but I imagine for 4 ft plants they may not get quite the peneration.I wanna use all sun system 600HPS 400MH combo's fixtures when I grow up.
