Hey all, thanks fer stopping by!

scorpioking13 - good to see ya in the Lounge. Your grow style will dictate your plant numbers, I do organic soil-less because it's easier for me to juggle plants around, if you get a system dialed in hydro that the netpots can be moved from one stage to the next the same could be done. I set hydro aside when I went perpetual because I run about 14 strains side-by-side in all stages. At the moment, I have 11 chosen moms veggin, along with 16 clones - 2@30 days, 10@37 days, 2@60 days and 2@65 days. Veg times differ with strains, I veg some to 60-90 days, most 42 days (6wks-1.5 mo). In flower I have 11 - 3 ready for chop this week, 1 the next, 1 the 3rd week, 1 the 5th, 1 the 6th, 3 the 7th and 1 the 8th. Summed up, that's 27 in veg, and 11 in flower, with rotation from the cloner into veg, then into flower. My flower cycle is determined with strains, some finish @ 60, some longer. Hope that helps ya get a handle on it, my spreadsheet sorts it out for me and tells me which plants are ready to move on. Hardest part is keeping the feedings straight, mexican guano in early veg, peruvian seabird guano in transition, jamaican guano into flower, and finishing with indonesian guano. Well, this is the Tinkerer's Lounge, so I guess a project update is in order. Needless to say, odor control has become a priority and I needed to build a carbon filter - so, after researching other builds I sat down at the drafting table to see what I could assemble with what I have on hand.

I found a 12" round commercial floor fan, the kind that deflects 360 deg. The motor is heavy duty enough to last a while, with 3-speed control and the case is heavy steel, now how to cover the intake with activated charcoal.


Stoner luck turned me to my spare plastic dehydrator shelves - lo & behold they pressure fit into the bottom of the fan cylinder. Filled a shelf with carbon, sandwiched it with another shelf to complete the filter cartridge, snapped it over the intake and fired it up.


Works like a Bingo-Hall smoke filter, and doesn't look bad either! Finally find a spot for that useless fiberoptic relic.

Remember, if the gals don't find ya handsome - they better find ya handy! We're all in this together, keep yer stick on the ice.

Heya baccas - fell into place nicely & works great, found carbon filter material in rolls for replacement every 4 months. Being heavy smokers we needed something like this long ago.....guests have been too kind about mentioning...and being a smoker all my life I never gave it a thought.

my OCD just got excited! it has a friend on here. haha i have never seen a more organized selection of pipes and hidden cubbys all fung schwayed and evenly spaced and the weights are evenly distributed. you can even wear white gloves in there. go figure a grow room and no dust. I get inspired every day. i think my swifter is calling. Great show i just read a years worth of posts. MUCHO PROPS AMIGO!

Been a while since an update - nothin special happenin atm - ECSD, Schrom, SAGE, Armed Widow, Sweet Tooth #3, SSSDH, AK47 in flower, 12 moms contributing to the cause, DeepWreck, ECSD, Schrom, Chemdawg, Trainwreck and Grape Kush in the cloner for the next run. This Flavor-of-the-Week looks to be ECSD with Sweet Tooth following close behind. Will see if any nugs jump out at me tonight for pics.

In the meantime, got a new addition to the Quality Control sample station, a nice 3-foot hookah with changeable bowls and equalising valve - took the top of my head off tokin Schrom. Here she's locked & loaded with Grape Kush.









Got the lab bench done, and the exhaust grate installed & all cleaned & ready to party. Grab a bowl & settle in for a toke or two, we'll check onthe girls shortly.

Quick update on SAGE male chop today, he was poppin & threatening the flowerin girls. Sacked him up & chopped, set him up in closet to dry & collect pollen for storage.

After you take the clones off the mothers how long does it take you before you use that mother again. Just wondering how many mothers i should have going. I know you have like 12 but that would be a little tough for my space restrictions. Im thinking maybe 3 or 4.

Hey scorpio - good to see ya relaxin in the lounge. Normally my grow goes like this-

Take cuts from moms and rooting takes 1 to 2 weeks, some woody strains or cuts take longer. The moms need a couple weeks to adjust, depending on how many cuts taken. I normally take about 5 cuts at a time off a mom without stressing her too much. It seems best to take a cut here and there rather than all at once, seems to go easier on the mom, and that way the cloner has cuts rooted and ready to pot at any given time - not all new cuts waiting to root. Everything you do is geared to staggering, so you can rotate something every week or two. Your schedule doesn't have to be this tight, you might be comfortable with only a few oz every 2-3 weeks - depends on your style - to start with I'd shoot for a finished plant every month and dial it in until you find the timing for the amount you use. Just double up on the stagger rotation and you can take 2 a month, then 3, etc. until you have a plant a week. I've experienced "bumper crops" when I had 2-3 plants ready in the same week. That's a celebration waiting to happen.

Pot rooted clones from cloner & place into veg with the moms for about 6-8 weeks, depending on strain - some can flower out with couple weeks veg. I try to get new cuts into veg every couple weeks so they can stagger the flowerin stage with others already in flower.

From veg into flower for average 70 days (9-10 weeks).

From taking cuts to finish chop I guess is about 20 weeks total (140 days, or 4.5 months). With the right rotation and timing I can chop a new flavor every week, usually 1-2 oz cured (some strains more, a Swt#3 plant can give up over 4 oz if she's never stressed). Other viney plants like trainwreck take longer veg to get the yeild up there, but even an oz a week is more than enough for the missus and me, hell I'm happy with a few grams a week - the rest is icing on the cake. 4 to 4 1/2 months sounds like a long time, but when ya get to chop one plant every week you can't beat it, no huge storage stash to get busted with as we toke it as it rotates out of cure, and we never run out. And we can savor over 4 strains every month, not toke the same strain stash until it's gone and wait for the next chop (3 harvests a year). And with limited space and cabinet growing the perpetual grow constantly produces, versus waiting 4-6 months for a grow room to finish.

Does that help put it in timeline for ya - answer to your question is let the mom rest for a couple weeks, once you work with the strain you'll get the hang of watching the mom for stress signs and can fine tune your cloning routine to her needs with minimum stress to slow things down.
