Day 58

Day 58

Day 58

Well as of yesterday, she turned 8 weeks old and it was time to switch to flowering so I did. I changed all my lights, so now I have 3x 55w 2700k 3600lumen bulbs and added 2 extra 25w 2700k 1800lumen bulbs to the mixture. Two more of those are on their way totalling my lumen output after the two lights come in to 18,000lumens total.

I also fixed up my grow chamber a bit adding some of the black/white poly to make sure my grow chamber was light proof since now, total darkness during lights out is a necessity since i'm flowering.

She is looking much bigger, though she got sick because of nute defieciency I think. It looks like she has a boron defiency and overall a nute defieciency since I havent nute fed her since feb 05 (lol, I know stupid noob mistake). The reason I have not fed her since then was that I was afraid of nute burning her since she experience some slight nute burns but now I have deprived her of her nutes.

So yesterday I fed her nutes again, I gave her a half gallon of water with 1tsp of Grow Big(Veg Nute - 6-4-4) and 1 and a half tsp of Big Bloom(Veg & Flower Nute - 1-3-7) which according to the fox farms schedule, I gave her Grow Big at full strength and Big Bloom at full strength aswell. Hopefully that should help Lexus out.

I balanced out the pH of the water to around 6.5pH before feeding her. She left hardly any run-off so I wasnt able to test the soils pH but I will the next time I water.

This Weeks

Max temperature / humidity - 85.8°F or 29.9°C / 44%

Min temperature / humidity - 65.5°F or 18.6°C / 21%

Day 99

Day 99

Day 99

Sorry guys about not updating it more often. I have been really busy with school etc but anyways to cut to the chase. Lexus is 6 weeks into flowering already!!! She has sprouted many bud shoots and looks like I will get a decent yield. I got around 3 more weeks to go before chopping.

I know that looking at the trichomes with a microscope is the best way to determine when to cut. Well I want to cut when the trichomes are mainly all cloudy with a little bit of amber (seems to be the preference of most members here) mainly because I want more of the head high than a body high. I know that you should flush for the last two weeks and not give it any more nutes.

Well to get to the point, I been doing some research and have been seeing the 65+/- days is the ideal time to cut after starting flowering but on the site dcchronic where I bought my seeds, it says to flower for only 8 weeks which is only 56 days??? Isn't 56 days very premature?

First let me say looking great bro thats a pretty plant!! As for days thats just a standard the microscope will tell you when shes done! Maybe the seed site uses hydro which finishes way faster or they like to pick early who knows?? Use your microscope it will tell the tale, good luck and congrats on your sucess so far!

Hi EuphoricNoni, awsome 1st grow you have there, congrats!
Lexus looks great, and its only going to get better as she packs on the weight and trichs.

Female seeds also say it is an 8 week strain, but all in all, its down to personal preference. Also, bear in mind that flowering under CFLs takes a bit longer (1 week+) than if they were under hps, so you would probably be looking at the 9/10 week mark... Once again, a microscope and the type of high you are after should dictate when to harvest.

If you are after a nice head high rather than body, a mix of clear and cloudy a nd very rare amber is what i find does the trick, for a more body stone: all cloudy with a couple ambers.

I've also got some GF on the go, they are 39 days (5.5 weeks) in 12/12 after a month+ veg:

Good luck with the rest of your grow,

Peace

Thanks alot bro for the help and comments. Love your plant, the flowers are huge!!!

Sorry for not updating once again, I will update tomorrow with pics.

As of now I have a couple of questions.

1) I already started flushing and just to make sure, flushing just means no giving the plant any nutes for two whole weeks and water everytime the plant needs it just like before right?

2) I already purchased a pocket microscope from radioshack but have not used it yet. I know it's best to dictate the plant's maturity by checking out its glands on buds but wouldn't some bud be more mature (the glands will be cloudier) then other buds that aren't so big such as the popcorn buds as apposed to the big colas?

So with this in mind when cutting, wouldn't some bud be more mature than others? For example, you check the glands on the big colas and they are all cloudy with very little amber here and their (which is ideal for me for a head high right?) so I cut, but the little popcorn buds on the bottom still have some clear glands due to them not being fully matured? Hope I made sence lol.

3) When checking the glands, whats the best method to do so? I hear the best is to snip off a small piece of the bud and check it under the microscope? Will that stress the plant?

4) Last question for right now, again just to make sure. Since i'm looking for a more head high then a stony high, I should harvest when the glands are mainly cloudy with a little bit of amber correct. The reason I am asking this is because I hear some reputable growers saying its best to cut when the glands are a mix of clear and cloudy with hardly no ambers at all for a head high???

I appreciate all the help and comments guys. I'll update tomorrow.
