Thanks for the break down joe, appreciate it. The shops recommend lots of shit, but I think I already have more than enough of that in me and don't need to compound my shit intake.

Haven't worked with pex before but done my fair share of copper/pvc so I think I should be able to handle it. How big is your chiller for your 3Ton? Just trying to run some numbers as there are some window shakers laying around and don't know if I want to invest when there's something around that'll do the job.

hot damn, gotta find a place where the landlord pays for water then, now that won't send up any flags. ha.

well on that line of thought it's time to take a look at how much these mofo's suck down cause that's a shit ton of water. literally......like a 2 cent whore working the extra shift, time to consult the internet.

I found this thread through the pictures you posted of your super lemon haze, and have got to say that everything here is looking prime. Great work Joe, I'm subscribed and definitely looking forward to watching this one unfold :tiphat:

If you own the property you can have a vertical ground loop sunk and use the ground as your heatsink that way you don't have to pay for drain to waste.

i dont pay for water, we dont have water meters her and dont get charged for it, but i was looking at houses to buy as im thinking of moving next year, and i seen a great house with a good size of land but the house runs off well water and septic tank.....so im wondering how i would be able to do this? or is this house out of the question for me?

never had a well and septic tank, i was thinking use well water but then put it where? i dont want to fill the septic tank in a few days as my 2 a/c's and my 2 water cooled co2 burners do chug alot of water....and piss just as much....

If you really want the property look into a ground cooling loop. I know they don't cost that much to sink and if you sink 2-3 of them you should be able to run a pretty big grow off of them.

how much do you think it would cost to do that? say for 20kw of lights and a 20x30 basement....3000$?

All depends on average annual ground temp, how deep the loop will be dug, if you can make some friends with all that weed ya got. Lets put it this way, people will do work for much less than they actually charge if they are getting paid in weed. Average cost is about 2500 per ton of cooling installed. However, if you can find a friend and buy the pex in bulk yourself all he has to do is drill the well install the piping and hook up the pumps and radiators. Cooling costs over the long run are substantially decreased.

Yeah and in Joe's case use a 5 finger discount if they find out where it is being grown...

Joe if you use a well you can have the run off go in to a (to be dug?) pond.
Just don't let the well pump go out on ya or your whole system will crash. They DO go out, especially when you least need it.

There's an entire thread about people (mostly in the US, many in CA with very expensive water) kicking themselves in the head trying to figure out how to effectively water-cool their commercial grow using a ground loop because they can't afford the electric bill. They talk about some 10+ year plan on how to recoup the installation costs, and still talk about how it's so great. In the end they fail miserably w/o a source of very cheap (or free) water. Check it out, it's almost comical.

Your situation is likely quite different, being in Canada with very cheap (in your case, free) cold water. Consider a water-cooled A/C system if that's up your alley.

Joe when you think you have found the perfect one and for some reason things don't work out all of a sudden when you keep looking you realize there is an even better one that came up a while later!

true....true.....but it was perfect, the land was 300 x 300 with no nieghbors for atleast 5-10 min away, 3 story house, garage that leads directly in the basement(60ftx60ft) and the whole property closed in by hedges, surrounded by mountains and 100ft across the street there is a lake.....absolutly beautiful and not too expensive, only 150k....compared to 300k or 400k they usualy go for.....i think its cheaper because of the area it is in the land might be cheaper....but at that price you cant loose out, i mean i would live there 3 or 4 years and grow to pay off the house then fix it up a bit and sell it for profit....

I would jump on it. Hell you could sink a tank in the back yard or excavate it and do a horizontal geothermal loop.

yeah I know how that is...I gotta make enough loot at this next location to buy my own house...I can't get a mortgage since I don't have legal income so I need to wait until I have enough in the bank to buy it outright... oh well...

Be careful, everything over 10k has to be sourced.
