ok...before going any farther, i needed to clear something up...

long story short i tried to calibrate my ph meter and it would not do a 2 point calibration, only 7, when i went to put it in the ph4 solution my meter reads "WRNG", so after doing this i tested my tap water, which is always 7.5(for the past 8 months atleast), and my meter reads between 5 and 5.8.....so i think my meter is fucked....could it be the electrode???

well for shits and giggles i decided to get a soil test kit(colored capsules)and did 2 tests as follows:

one test was done on runoff water that was collected

other test was done by removing 5" of soil from the top and testing a piece of soil near the mid-bottom of pot, adding RO water to soil sample and testing(according to package instructions, but they gave instructions for outdoor lawns....)

2 completely different results....

test 1: ph 6 or a bit less
N---mid-high
P---mid
K---high

test 2: ph--7-8
N---low
P---mid-low
K---low mid-low

i dont know which i should be going by....im kind of confused

well im going to get a new electrode for my ph meter.

on a side note i flushed half my crop with florakleen, about 1/4 of my crop with plain RO water, and then took 5 plants on the side and fed them a 750ppm dose of nutes.....after 3 days the plants that were fed look the best, then the plants that were flushed with ro water, then the plants that were flushed with florakleen looked the worst(pale...ect)

so its my guess that i was underfeeding them...ill wait till friday to make the descision....

if by chance i am under feeding them, that would mean they eat like whores...i was already giving them 650 ppm every watering....basicly 2 times a week

..........

When I used to grow....they got 1,300 PPM (1/2 TBS) Jack's EACH feeding (every other day).
That's in soil (ProMix).

Or around 2,500 PPM (1TBS,
twice a week) every other watering in ProMix as well.

PS:
I fertilized by Jack's specs, not by PPM. I just happen to know what the PPM's were since I measured them.

PPS: ProMix HP (30% Perlite) was used.
Since HP is more porous than BX (15% Perlite) using HP allows for more frequent waterings hence more chances to feed if needed than if using BX which holds water like a sponge.

but right now im using AN sensi a+b for grow, @ 650 ppm every watering....im only using it because i have it from 2 crops ago and dont want it to go to waste....

but one of the big differences i think is when i used to water at 650 ppm every watering i was mixing my promix with compost(100L promix/60L compost) along with a cup of dolo lime....never had any problems, lush green plant from start right up to harvest....

but now my grow is much bigger than back then, so i have not mixed any compost with promix....

my uncle grows with pure promix and he told me he feeds with jacks every second watering at 1000ppm....with no problems, but that would still amount to 500 ppm every watering right?

i think i will have to bump up my feeding, but i just dont know how much....ill start with 800.....and go from there i guess.

but ill wait till a few days to make sure that it is infact underfeeding, as i did feed 5 plants with 750 ppm and they seem to be the greenest.....

What your uncle does sounds just about right, he must have a low demand strain and is using low PPM water.
Remember the PPM (TDS) already in water adds to the PPM introduced by the fertilizer.
In other words if the water used has say 500PPM already and one goes and adds 1,200PPM ferts that ends up @ 1,700PPM.
It stays @ 1,200PPM if RO water is used.

And yes you ARE underfeeding your plants, I suspected that long ago and expressed it in our conversations.

Using compost would be a waste of time, money and your energy.

As I already previously stated (some time back) soil is normally leached out of its essential parts for your plants after roughly 6 weeks so you may as well start out w/o compost etc. as well and have adequate feeding from the beginning instead.

yeah i know...its just that once you over feed it soo hard to fix it...and is irreversable root damage, so i was weary of increasing my fert regimen.....

but i think you were right....

Absolutely.

Start on the easy side and read your plants, then increase feeding.
PPMs that may work for one don't always work for the next guy.

Jack's IS the best chem fert around and it'll be a lot harder to do damage than with others around such as MiracleGro. The last is terrible terrible stuff.

Stick with one genetic which will make your life easier and increase your yields.

I'm eager to see what the PPM bump does to your plants. Good on you for doing the controlled experiment and getting results. If you see positive performance with no burning or yellowing from this bump, are you planning on bumping it again, or doing another experiment?

Also, did you figure out your PH issues?
