150w HPS Club and Resource Guide......

Hey folks, very impressed with some of these results throughout the thread. I was considering a 250w hps for a small indoor grow. But after seeing this stuff I think I'm just gonna go with a 150. However what would any of you recommend for ventilation? The area I'm looking to use is about 2.5'X2.5'X5'. I'm only looking to do 1-2 plants at a time.

RD, your area is a little large for a 150. It's about big enough for a 400. 250 would give you 40 watts per sq foot. 50 wpsf is standard. You can still use a 150 but it won't cover the entire area. It's good for about 3 sq feet.

What's your budget for a fan and scrubber?

Hello!

I also run a small grow under a 150W hps :) I'm glad I found this thread! I'm currently looking after some Euforia seedlings.
This bud was the first I grew indoors (diesel ryder x white master):

Thanks for the response Disco. That's the maximum outside dimensions, will probably be smaller. I'm just gonna grab some aluminum poles, mylar and a few pieces of wood for a frame. I don't have too much for a budget for ventilation, maybe $100 max. I feel an inline might be a bit noisy for my liking. I was originally thinking a 4'' with a scrubber. Can usually find combos for around $100, but I'd much rather spend as little as possible considering its only for one plant atm. And it's only a temporary set up, it'll be coming down as soon as I harvest and dry as I'll be moving shortly after. I was wondering if a couple pc fans and a couple small DIY carbon scrubbers might do the job.

Disco i was wondering if you think this area is too big for a 150 hps, im not quite sure of the dimensions but i think theyre about 3'x2'x5'
heres a couple of pics to show the space. im going to add 4 X 100 watt CFLS, on each side of the hps, in order to create a broader light span. is this a good idea?:thank you:

Or would a high cfm duct booster with a scrubber work?

The booster would work to cool the tent but not sure it has enough power to suck through much of a scrubber.

Just depends on whether you'll grow down the road. I'd go with the cheapest option unless whatever you buy can be used in the future.

If you go the pc fan route, you might want to go with 120mm. If not, a 5" ac server fan from radio shack. Not sure about the noise factor. 80 to 100mm dc fans are usually light if anything on the filter and you're lucky if they'll cool the canopy enough.

I was thinking a duct booster might not have enough to push or pull through a scrubber. Are there any other methods of odor control I might use? It's just one plant, I believe its northern lights clone I received from a friend. Don't know too much about the strain so idk what the smell is like during flowering.

Here's a recent grow. Many more threads if you search by title. You can also search for key words within each thread to narrow posts. Looks like it's pretty smelly.

Baggie seed grow @ the start of week 9. Flushed 4 of the 5 plants (2 of 3 strains) today. The 3rd strain got fed today because it's still showing very few orange hairs. Been feeding bloom nutes @ a pH of ~5. The pH of my run off was 7! Got to love that dolomite. Could have vegged a couple more weeks, but we're running pretty low on smoke. Took clones of all 3 strains, and kept a male of one of the strains that I flushed today.

Looking forward to some nice smoke for my honey by Valentines Day :joint: We'll kick back and think of last falls tropical vacation & the baggies these seeds came from. :underwater:

Update on cab and 2nd grow

Update on cab and 2nd grow

High guys im just in here with an update of my cab:dance013:. I recently picked up my White Fire OG seedling from a freind of mine, who was taking care of it for a bit. Shes at week 5 of veg and i topped her today.(my first top ever.) did i do it correctly?
i also put in 2 x 100 Watt CFL's next to the HPS fixture to get a little more light for the ladies. the rest of the ladies, besides the White Katsu and White strawberry, are all at 8-10 day mark of vegging. i plan on keeping them on veg for 10 more days. i feed them with the general organics nutrient line every other day and on the third day i give them only straight water. theyre looking pretty as can be,cant wait till flowering time!
let me know what you guys think and if i should do something differently!:thank you::tiphat:
stay fligh and high:joint:
