Here's a couple grams ISO and a few nugs of Zombie Virus chopped after 65 days.

Hey DB: What's your technique w/the ISO? Mine always comes out much darker, almost black. Yours looks beautiful in comparison.

How the hell do you guys make ISO? I am still on attempting dry sift...got three 2-3' plants worth of trim to process....soon adding another (today).

You guys bring the FIRE.

How long do you wash? The quicker you wash, the lighter the color in most cases. I try to take no more than 30 seconds to pour in ISO, give a good 10 to 15 shakes, then dump. If I get all that done in 20 seconds, that's all it gets.

Once the drying plate is dry to the touch, I put it in the oven at 100 degrees f for 10 minutes. It scrapes up in dry flakes as opposed to chewing gum, lol.

The second wash is done the same. It won't be as strong as the first batch and is darker in color, usually reddish brown. Makes good x-mas gifts.

From what I've read, dry sift produces the purest extract. Good luck with the sift and enjoy the results.

There are lots of ISO threads on IC. I'm happy to explain how I do it but there are some real pros here you can learn from.

Basically you pour in 91% or higher ISO alcohol into your sugar trim. Shake well so the ISO can dissolve trich heads. Pour it through a strainer to get the plant material out of the ISO.

The good stuff is in the ISO. Pour it into a glass pan or plate. Allow the ISO to evaporate. The residual gunk on the glass is your hash. Scrape is up with a razor blade and enjoy.

Thanks Bro! I don't use ISO much, (mostly cause the gooey results don't have much smoke appeal) but yeah, I've been soaking WAY too long LOL. Thanks again :rasta:

You're welcome, vintner. I need to get a screen and quit wasting money on solvent.

Anybody seen the little 1 gallon size bubble bags? Cute little boogers. The off brands on ebay are selling as little as $10 each in sets. I know the 5 gallon sets are the bomb but can't justify it for a micro grow.

I've been keeping an eye out for micro growers using bubble bags, but haven't seen anything. If they are that cheap then they will start to save money over ISO after a few runs. The reviews I've read about knock off brand bubble bags are not good, but maybe they would meet the micro growers needs.

I've only made ISO twice now, but the first time I shook for 45s-1m and it looked like brown good stuff, but it would turn black when you compressed it together. This last time I shook her as much as I could for just 30 seconds and I got that golden stuff that will not stick together at all. I will try that 10 minutes in the oven trick, thanks DB.

catman, if you're already getting flaky stuff, you might not need the heat.:D Sounds like you're doing better than I am with the initial extraction.

I would like to officially say I am now a proud member of the 150 Watt club.

My first grow has recently come to a close and though I ended up with some fluffy bud I learned a lot in the process. And also managed to bring my first grow all the way to flower.

I now veg under a 2ft x4bulb T5, then go to a 150watt HPS. Last grow had light leak problems, nute problems, and just overall problems. This grow will go a lot better as I have learned alot. I am also buying a small portable dark room to flower in, I do not see a great need for it during my veg cycle since they are tented well in mylar at the moment and Christmas has me financially tapped.

I will post pics soon.

First grow was California Orange and White Widow. Out of 10 clones, 5 made it to flower. 4 Orange and one Widow. Total harvest was rather weak at 2.8 oz of dried Orange, and ~1.2 oz or so of White Widow (shes recently gone from 3 days hung to brown bag, shes not totally dry for a weight tally yet). Though I had some massive buds, all buds were fluffy due to light leaks, super thrive for too long into their cycle and general learning the ropes. As well as using CFLs in hood for my vegging on the first grow.

I now have 10 new clones under t5, 6 widow and 4 orange. I am hoping all the Widow survive at it was most certainly the better plant to work with.

Wow! 4 ounces on your first grow! I see very good things in your future, present even.:D

Thank you! I am most pleased with the quality and the look of what I grew, but the density left A LOT to be desired. All in all a quarter pound grown in my closet with less than a $300 investment was not too shabby for a newbie.

The Widow is better off than the Orange. To put it into perspective. My massive 10" long thicker than a coke can Cali Orange colas weighed 42, 47, and 50 wet, dry they weigh 6.1, 7, and 8.3. A humongous drop in weight due to their exceedingly fluffy nature.

The twin tops off my Widow (she naturally double topped) weighed 33 and 36 wet and by my guess weigh about 10 and 12 wet, a much smaller weight drop. But a still larger than optimal weight loss.

The Widow is ripe with Trichs, very sticky and even drying is maintaining a nice skunky smell underlying the "freshly drying" scent, the Orange dried too fast, and seems to be holding onto its hay scent even a week and a half into cure. But the taster (small weak plant harvested early) of the Orange is finally at 3 weeks cure showing its true colors.

Even drying I ended up doing it different with both strains. With the Orange I trimmed fresh and tight, and then I hung on individual branches. Noting that this made for a fast dry, I changed up for the Widow. I left her sugar leaves on til after 72 hours and hung her as a complete plant, after trimming the fan leaves that stemmed from the buds, as well as some larger sugar leaves at the 72 hour mark, I cut the buds to individual stems and bagged her in a brown bag. The difference in how they are drying, how much "hay" smell they are picking up and how they "feel" to me is infinitely different. I will likely follow the latter pattern from now on.

Between the two the Widow was hardier, stayed a deeper green over its life, reacted less unfavorably to the two times I was off on nutes, yellowed least near flowering and was all in a great deal more pleasant than the Cali Orange. I doubt I will clone the Orange again, likely I will only keep mothering the Widow.

The fluff was in large part due to stretched babies, and then light leaks, as I grew in my closet with mylar put "around" it. I had some taped to the wall, some taped to the closet door and two pieces on coat hangers with dowels holding them down to create a "psuedo" box. Not very light efficient and very leaky during it's "dark" times.

My now current grow is under much better management. My clones are not going to stretch as much as my T5 is putting out 10k or so lumens, and the 3 lamp hoods I had for my last grow put out maybe 2400 combined with the 3 cfls.

I will be buying a dark room before my clones hit 12" and then they will go into the portable dark room which will remove the light leaks that plagued my last "closet" grow.

I look forward to enjoying from now on fruits of my own labor instead of paying for someone else's work.

Anyway, rambling on, enjoying some ISO from my trim,
Alexis

The new line up after my mishaps

so here is the new bitches at almost week 3 and already showing white puss hair, lol j/k but one that is on day one today. in total there are 6 and soon I shall put in the prize genetic winners, lol I'm thinking 01/15/10 diffidently by then the BB and LS will be in veg for two months already and i should be able to get clones by the time they are in flower week 3. The BB has a bunch of branches and shoots now but ill wait on cuttings till then , but the LS is just one main stem no shoots at all.

Caille - Welcome aboard and enjoy the ride. Always nice to see a new face and hopefully an active participant.

You'll likely have to get use to the more fluffy style of bud formation. Its a normal thing when growing multiple larger plants under a single 150HPS, just not enough "rays" to keep everyone really nicely tanned, so to speak. If you decide to give a staggered or perpetual harvest a go, they will get a bit denser for sure. However like I always say, if you're just growing for yourself and possibly a partner, its very hard to outsmoke a 150 setup that's even partially dialed in.

I look forward to seeing some pic's and posts.

One Love, PD

I joined the club right in the middle of my current grow session. Plants were started under 76 watts of 6900k neons, then a 250w 2700k cfl bulb was added when shifting to 12/12 (all for 0.36 square meter)
I just felt something was wrong with the big cfl bulb, which seemed produce much less light than in its early days. I had to graduate to the HPS level ! And so did I, and the plants loved it !

Here a few general pics, showing plants at 57 days of 12/12. Should be all gone by now, or just a few days from, but they suffered some light pollution during 4 nights in a row at 5 weeks 12/12, so I think that they'll get 8 to 10 days more before they get done.

Irie !

Well Thank you Pipedream for the warm welcome. I will indeed be an active poster and participant in this community, I looked for a long time before choosing my grow community. ICMag was chosen over Rollitup and the other sites, with OG gone, as OG was the community I always treasured the most.

As for the multiple ladies under a 150 that is good to know. This time round I am planning on a SCROG once I get my itty bittles all set and comfortable. Right now they are just acclimating to soil from the clone rooting coir.

I am thinking a SCROG will help with light penetration. I am, if SCROG fails to work the way I wish, thinking of trying lollipopping next time in a SOG. But as I understand it the genetics I am working with do not do the best with lowriders. Widow is known for her bushy nature and is not an ideal SOG candidate, though she works well in SCROG, hence my choice.

I am working on the screen now. I plan to place 2 of the healthiest plants per pot in two pots under the screen (think the size of a water farm bucket), and then attempt for the best canopy. I cloned 10 clones to avoid losing a good selection of candidates. I expect 2-3 will be culled for being too stunted to maintain an even lightbar, I expect 2-3 to be unworthy of final bucketing.

I am hoping the 4 that make it are all WW, I really am not enjoying the smoke from the CO. But such is what was cloned for me. The gent who I get my genetics from has his Widow Mother in a good place now and can supply me with another batch of clones should I fail to get the candidates I want from my own clones.

Pictures of harvest and of my new girls to come shortly. Also for those who can get dense nugs going does scrog or sog work best for density under a 150?

Both will grow dense buds. Some strains aren't dense whatever you do and selecting another strain might be a consideration.

IMO, tweaking your setup may help you more than grow style.

Things I would look at are grow temps, (light on and off) air circulation and exhaust, lamp to canopy proximity and size of grow space.

Good luck with your grows and enjoy the harvests.:D

I am having an interesting issue, as my white widow dries it is turning a golden hue.

What can cause this?

Sounds like the leftover nitrogen is breaking down. Your "gold" will probably smell and taste much better than weed with enough nitrogen to maintain it's green color.

As I noted it did not even go completely hay smelling, it went from skunky enough to stink up my flat, to skunky grass which has become alot more mellow. But the skunky funky is still there and the nugs are simply covered in trichs.

Right now I am enjoying some finished curing Orange off my taster plant. 3 weeks cured and it smells gorgeous once ground up with relatively little smell until it is.
