Yeah, Yeah I got balls, you guys are right! Supremely disappointed in myself!

I am working from bagseed that is at least 15~20 years old!

Everything I have is from Hawaiin or old school indoor Alaskan, Matanuska Thunderfuck to be exact.

Still Searchin' and still gettin' beans.

I think you should be anything but disappointed in yourself yo! Despite being a male that plant looks well tended, and like I said earlier, your LST job is superb! If your future girls look just as healthy, you're gonna end up w/some dank smoke yo!

For all the years I've been smoking and growing, I've never found that flushing had any effect whatsoever on the "taste" or "smokability" of the final product. And, based on the botanical readings I've done, I honestly believe it has no bearing on the health or safety aspects of smoking the buds. However, I do flush, but not often. When I do, here's the when and why that governs my method....

If a plant is finishing on her own in the proper time frame, I don't bother to flush it.

If she seems to be lagging behind a bit, and I need to expedite the final week or two of gland production and color change, I'll move her over to H2O only with no nutes.

Here's the reasoning.....

When a plant is in the last stages of flowering, one of it's natural processes is to stop the uptake of nutrients. This change in chemistry signals the plant to complete it's seeding process. While most of our plants are not allowed to produce seeds, the same signal tells the plant to stop actively producing THC within it's glands. As a result the existing glands start to decay and turn amber. Yes, those amber trichs we all so seek are in fact decayed. By flushing all available nutrients, the plant is fooled into “thinking” its in the last stage of life. As such, you force the plant into it's final phase and can expedite the process of changing clear trichs to a rich brown hue. Of course, not everyone desires amber. Those that desire less of a narcotic couch-lock high will want a higher percentage of clear glands.

Great advice indeed. I am the same way! If I do flush, its only for a week, and don't even consider it flushing... More like heavy watering without nutrients! I have had buds that did sizzle and spark before though... No bien. (Not grown by me of course)

word up cuzzin,

molasses is a great boost to make buds bigger and sweeter juicer yummy. imo its always good to water only flush them once every week throughout veg and in flower stage. it will clear salt build up and help the plants roots ingest nutrients better making the plant better. think about it, it gets gooey in the soil Nutes have bat guano seabird guano and bone , Castings from worms and all the other good sht for them. so flushing once week clears the soil out .

Next time you grow imo , if you harvest after 10 to 12 weeks of flowering stage this does not include veging time only flowering time .

*give regular nute feeding week 1.2.3.4.

*at week 5.6.7. cut your nutes in half and add molasses " now imo i add a liltle more molasses with the nute mix because at that stage the plant needs a boost of pasasium to jump kick the bud development ,flushing once a week
* at week 8.9 cut down more of your nutes . molasses at just lil less amount from at first, flushing once a week
* at week 10.11.12 cut out the nutes and flush with molasses water only
before you chop put them in darkness "No lights" for three or four days to make the plant develop more trycomes on the buds itself i think that the word "crystals" that where THC is at son.
also keep temps at 78/83 max ,speeds up metabolism for bigger duds throughout cycle..

hope this helps you or anyone searching for answers , knowledge is key to make weed free. spread it like wildfire.

never flush with molasses, your erb will taste bad, its used pre-flush, the week before flush.
read the forums, plenty people have this experience. flush with just water, if your adding molasses your last week u waited to long to start useing it.

good points pipedream, amber actually is cannabis thats going rancid, that why the hammeriing fatiqueing body feeling, fresh erb makes u bright n up, much like wheat grass to whole wheat pasta gives u energy and beer makes u a fat slob, beer is rotten/fermented

bob marley ''erb teach u to be a someone, rum teach u to be a junker''

i think in some sense were all smokiing past its prime erb , unless u grow it yourself and harvest it early u dont know what im talking about.

PD Thanks for the pointers!

vintner I ain't give up on that girl yet! Might be a light leak (new cab). Got a couple more brewing'

I'm trying to get a new? strain going. I can get really well developed strains for little or nothing as I have a few friends who do this commercially.

Been doing that for a long time.

Just couldn't convince them to give a little bit of grow space to developing some genetics. They have the same beans I do, I'm doin it as my project!

Also was never really able to LST a plant in anyone elses grow. This is all experience for ME!

sito007, I have to respectfully take exception to your advise...
See, thing is...molasses is not a taste enhancer at all. I know we hear that it makes buds sweeter, but I have yet to see evidence of that. In fact, using it on the very last watering can actually cause the buds to be harsh.

And nutes will really make buds harsh...so nutes should be completely shut off at least 2-3 weeks before harvest, no matter how many weeks the strain goes in flower.
And the fan leaves should all be turning a yellowish color, falling off, and pretty much looking sick.
These plants we see that are just about to be chopped, and have pretty green leaves and a real nice photogenic quality to them, are probably going to taste nasty. Albeit a pretty picture.
And again, molasses benefits the plant during the nutrient stage, as it . But 2-3 weeks before harvest, save your nutrients, including molasses.

WHAT UP .
I have try both flushing just water only and with molasses. IMO i love molasses because it does make the buds sweeter and smooth smoking AND FATTER. i let me buds cure for months before smoking them i notice the difference. Yeah molasses is a nutrient in itself but it focuses on one area and that's the finishing stage to make the buds big and sweet.

* at week 10.11.12 cut out the nutes and flush with molasses water only before harvest , now ofcorse you should cut down the amount of molasses if you wish to do so but either way you must cure you weed to smoke, it just takes a lil longer.

Now im not saying my way works for you or any other growers, Im just telling you what works for me and how i make my fat juicy buds develop, just my :2cents: for any newbies who want some direction. everyone have their own way
merry Christmas :thanks:

grumblez

After 6 days of glass curing the herb off of my first harvest was much more potent. I was not convinced of potency the day after the whack when I put some small bits on my light's housing to turbo dry. After properly curing holy god I love this herb. As good as anything I would pick up for 60 an eighth. I cannot wait to see what kind of variations are out there...I'll have some pictures of the sativa pheno I have brewing. I am at week eight with her and am pretty sure she is done for in a couple of days. I need to get her down before the holiday rigor pulls me away.

Molasses - I used it and believed it worked. I started week two of flowering and continued with it 2x a month. I flushed (watered heavily) for the last two weeks
with half strength sugar water (1/2 tbsp per gallon) and then viola, my shit tastes great.

Dunno if it has to do with the molasses though...I need to grow some without and compare....glad I got those clones to root.

On my last (and first) grow I screwed with harvest time as well....I pulled one plant late (75% amber) and I pulled the other early ( 40% Amber)...the 75% is a couch locking bitch and the other makes me run for the kava tea. Same Pheno, same genetics. The ability to control the harvest timing and conditions is something very cool about DIY herbals that consumer based involvement would never afford. Another cool and intriguing facet of this wonderful weed we call POT.

Got any pics Grumblez? I get confused who has what... ha

Day 21 Flowering.

Only pictured are my 2 favorite plants. Both are Chrystal, yet have Indica and Sativa phenos... We'll see when they develop more.

my boy johnny is using a molasses call Heavy Weight
from a company called nutrilifeproducts dot cum.
this is what they say and also some growers in the bush country here.

* Adds size and weight to flowering plants
* Enhances Phosphate interaction with other plant nutrients
* Improves and regenerates beneficial soil micro-organism population, which in turn produce organic acids, humus and plant nutrients
* Dramatically enhances Phosphates function in plants, which in turn enhances fruiting, flowering and plant sugar production.

Inverted, nice bud formations so early on.:D

No kidding huh? Thanks man! I've never seen a nugget form so quickly, I have a feeling that one is going to bear the most weight, but the Haze's are bulking up pretty fast too? Who knows, I'll keep a regular update until harvest, then I'm cracking some Sensi Super Skunk x Bubba Kush, and some G13/Haze x Mango to find some killer moms. I can't wait! :tree:

Lets see some more 150 grows! I love my 150! :sasmokin:

thanks Disco,
they were putting on weight the last part of flowering when this happened, well at lease i know to be calm and slow down next time, been vegging dutch passion "blueberry" and DNA "lemon skunk" for almost month and half now under two 42watt floros and planning on switching them to flower on Jan.1.2010 kick off the new year on a good Note.

Does anyone know if i should put them in darkness for 48hrs or longer before switching to 12/12? does that help at all?
