Any thoughts on Rapid rooters?

I prefer them to Rockwool, FWIW. I'm situated in a basement which can get colder than I'd like, .. Call me crazy, but I feel like the Rockwool gets frigid pretty easily, .. It's essentially a water-logged block o' fiber, .. The RR, on the other hand, seem a bit more "durable" in that sense.

..If I'm making any at all, ..

:dance013:I just went and bought the 50 site Rapid rooter setup with the hood and I think Im going to start the Blueberry seeds a Trusted pro gave me. Guess he got the seeds from Dutch Passion and grew then for years inbreeding them and getting the best genetics he could. So on the label it says BBDP Large Calyx Stinky Fruit ...lmao Anyways... I am excited about my new crap... sorry. This is exciting for me. Now I understand why this herb costs so much... Any thoughts on Rapid rooters?

Not a fan of starting seeds in Rapid Rooters, LOVE em for clones tho.

For seed starting I like the "JumpStart" plugs from Hydrofarm.

Love Rapid Rooters, but just like Canniwhatsis said, they can be a bitch with seeds and better for clones, IMHO the Peat pucks are the best, especially cause it's so dry where I live.

There are about 1 million ways to sprout seeds, and if it works, then you did it right.

:scripture:Here is how I currently use Rapid Rooters for seeds. ( I have about 20 seeds in rapid rooters under a dome on a heating mat right now, 100% success. I didn't have any peat pucks)

THE MAIN PROBLEM with rapid rooters for seeds is that if they are positioned upside down or not watched they can have a very tough time turning around inside the rapid rooter cause it doesn't just move aside like soil would. You can always rip the whole a little wider....

I use a heating mat, so if you don't have one I really suggest putting the setup somewhere were it won't get cold, that will stall the whole process.

Pop your seeds in the fridge for a little while best for a few days, but I feel like it helps even if only for a few hours. This is supposed to recreate coming out of winter into spring.. and it works.

Take your cold seeds and pop them in luke warm water in a shot glass or something similar.

Then cover with foil to keep warmth and block some light... don't know if this really helps but I do it. You'll notice everyone has weird seed germ habits.

I put my shot glass seed holder directly on my heat mat until they all pop tails or at least till most of them do... I try not to let them soak for more than 48 hours, most will pop on the heating mat within 12 - 36 hours.

Once the pop a tail, get them out within a day and put them tail down into the rapid rooters and just barely in so it's just under the top. I soak my rapid rooters in ph 5.7-6.0 water with hygrozyme (if you don't have it, don't worry it's really not necessary)

Then put the rapid rooter in your dome and on the heating mat.

Just make sure the seeds don't get stuck inside upside down, remember you can rip the whole a little bit on the rapid rooters to make it easier for them to pop up.

I loved this thread. Nice to see what T5s will do on their own. Buds not rock hard and heavy but neither are most land race sativas. It is the trichome production that counts. Far less cost than a HID setup and if you are in it for smoke and not show an sell thats what counts. The only thing I would of done different besides skip the costly AN products would be to pinch the main stems and let the side branching catch up to better use the light. Thanks for the show.

@ijim - Thanks for the posts!

The bud is excellent and perfect for any medical user, T5's will def. get the job done.

I am using much more supercropping and training this time.

Allthough, this time, I'm adding an HPS with the T5's to see If I can get the Quantity and Quality.

I'm doing a side by side with GH and AN right now.... if AN doesn't kick their ass then I'm out.

Peace

After smoking the blueberry for a little while now, and exclusively....

I must say, every single time I smoke I am productive and happy, almost to the point of laughter. No anxiety, very clear headed.... but then... wait..

You can keep stepping it up, as I add more I keep getting higher and higher and higher, If you haven't grown any blueberry yet please do so okay :tiphat:

I've always been pleased with my blueberry! :D

Silver, I understand the variety thing. But a good cut of blueberry will become a staple in your garden, and/or medicine cabinet! :pimp3:

Oh, trust me. True BB is at (or near) the top of my all-time favorites list, .. With Juicy Fruit and Jamaican Ice..

I've since had some crosses and whosits, but nothing has ever come close to that FLAVOR. Good buzz too.

I've considered searching for some beans and ponying up a few bucks, but the reality is that I'm fortunate enough to have a great supply of genetics from great folks at hand, ish.

SOOOoooooo, it's a little challenging to justify, at the moment.... Which may be the most important part of that statement.

:D

Yeah,.... I know that feeling.

I've had my blueberry for about 9 months (clone from local dispensary)

It was a tough choice, but after much deliberation, I've procured some DJ Short, True Blueberry beans, and will be giving them a shot here soon.

Wife about shot me for buying seeds of a strain we (might) already have, but WTF right?
