Dude youve made my day. I was stressin out about how my plants r growin tall n not wide but thats to your reassurance ive got a smile on ma face. But the question that is still bouncing around in my head is ; how many do i fit per sq ft in an enviroment with about 2.5ft height to grow.

Hi all. First time poster here. Usually over at MP under oldskool. I have read the first dozen pages of this thread and am quite interested. Can someone point me to the 'list' of strains that do well (along with the Sativa's) from seed on 12/12 please?
Thanks, OS55

Any strain will work under 12/12 from seed. If by 'do well' you mean 'quicker', you'd want to look for strains that reach sexual maturity faster, but that is rarely documented by breeders or growers.

hey guys!
i have decided to run my first 12/12 from seed grow, and have it well underway.
i have 3-3 week old plants and 25~ beans planted w/ 4 peaking thru the ground. all bag seed. this is being done under CFL (52w at the time, will add more as they mature)....

one of my questions old skool has already covered, and my other one is ventilation. 2.5 sq ft shouldnt require more than maybe two PC fans...should it?

and im thinking of transplanting into empty butter containers when theyre ready, short and wide...anyone ever try this?

Hi. With 2 26 watt CFL's that should be adequate. I only run two 12 volt PC fans with my 400 CMH/HPS setup but they are on monitors that spin up as the heat in the cab does. I would run at the minimum 4 26 watters in Daylight spectrum for veg and then swap out for 4 26 watters in 2700 warm for flowering.
Worked for me b-4 I upgraded.
Good luck!

EDIT: Wasn't the whole idea of this thread to post which strains were most agreeable to the 12/12 idea? Is there no list? Or do I have to read thru all 122 pages for the info? If so, just point to a page please. I already read the first dozen or so.
Thanks, OS

Oh well, I'll find out myself soon enough. I sprouted 3 Purple Haze and a single Cole Train, all feminized, and have them sitting in hydro next to my Durban Poison ladies who are in week three of bud now. I've grown Sativa's since the 70's but never tried 12/12 b4. I am very curious to see how it works out, especially under the CMH bulb which, by the way, kicks the snot out of an HPS for growth rates. Flowering takes a week longer but well worth the time and $ for the bulb.

thanks old skool...your comment on spectrum raises another question for me. in the next few days im going to wal-mart and picking up new 42w bulbs and some odds and ends... what spectrum should i look for in a flower bulb? 2700 you said?
sorry for the silly ?'s, i usually dont grow like this. its been a while since i have grown anything actually

^ Don't worry, the only spectrum you will find in the 42w variety of spiral bulbs is the flowering spectrum. I think they are 2700k. I sure wish I could find some 6500k ones!

well for now through the next few days, they are under 5300 spectrum...i have added another bulb, now i have 3 26w. all my beans came up, but they are stretching, especially the ones that popped up before i added the new bulb, but i was wondering...does 12/12 for seedlings make them stretch?

You are right. The red spectrum CFL bulbs available are 2700K. Only the blue spectrum CFL bulbs are available as 6400K. Try out a 150W blue Envirolite and combine it with the smaller red CFL's.

When starting the plants as seedlings you need to get them as close to as much blue light as possible to avoid any early stretch. I find this is extremely important in the first 48 hours. If using CFL's you can have seedlings almost touching the bulbs without any heat burn/stress issues whatsoever.

12/12 from seed. Small cab, so I couldn't really go up with it. Only one other direction to go....

The main one, is a little over 4 weeks old. About 2 weeks into flowering. The smaller one in the back, which is residing in a 16oz bottle and stretching across the entire span of the case almost, is about a week younger. These are just a little project with same bag seedage that I'm doing alongside my main grow. 2 32W full spectrum (5000k) CFLs.

hey all...quick '?'... at my buddies house where i am growing, he has really bad water so i have been bringing bottled water up for my girls. is bottled water Ph neutral and everything? cause i dont even have my Ph test kit any more.

Usually bottled water is about as neutral as you can get. I grow in soil and don't even test my water, I just boil it and let it sit out for about 48 hours. Hasn't failed me yet.
