So now you guys thru a curve ball at me lol

So saw other grower running a Top Feed DTW system and he grows them in 7 gallon smart pots and mixes the coco with chuncky pertilite 60/40

So planning on doing that but what should my feed times be and will a 55 gallon rez be enough

feed till you get runoff & yes a 55 would work but you'll be refilling every 4 or 5 days .
i feed my 12 3 gallon pots a total of 2 minutes ( give or take) , broken up into 4 30 second feeds .i feed till every pot has had slight runoff by the end of the 12hr cycle , then suck it out a half hour later with a shop vac . & my 55 lasts about 7 to 8 days .

Dan can you tell me if you are using drippers or open ended tubing or whatever to actually feed your plants. I have been using the 6 inch Hydro Flow - Rain Rings. In order to get a proper flow I had to increase my pump quite a bit past a 396.

Thanks in advance.

i use the black hole hydro halos (in my pics ) & they have 6 pretty good size holes on the bottom to feed from . i've used a 264 pump on them & had it feed pretty good , but the 396's work better for a much more even flow .

Thanks Dan. There wasn't a picture attached when I asked for some reason. I was thinking of going with the black holes but got the rings instead. Maybe I just thought I needed to overkill the pump....ooops.

Great setup!

Well let me thank you gives for all the advice fellas I really appreciate it. I am new to coco and all the ideas are helping me plan this out. I was really seeing coco like a soil but seeing that it isnt.

I was told in another site that I should look into soiless was told that its the most like hydro with the added security that you have some room for pump/electrcial error.

I am going to buy (2) 250 gallon tank one for R/O water and other for Rez.

I'm going to start with 3-4 feedings a day since I'm vegging for 24hr a day

I'm going to make my halos out of pvc. Its cheapers lol

Anytime brother!

I have two rooms. One that is drain to waste and the other RDWC. The hydroponic does in fact yield more, however every morning when I open the door I'm always thinking what might of gone wrong the night before. With the drain to waste room there is never that worry. I check that room once or twice a week at this point. The drain to waste for me is much better than soil and about as bullet proof as you can get.
