ME! hehe. I have a 1k HPS no idea what type of bulb with a reflector that goes horizontal over the light then goes down and outward on both sides. Not the best I was thinking of maybe modding it to enclose it a little bit; concentrate the light more down instead of out. I will be using it on a Aeroponic 9 Site ( http://198.63.32.165/ftpimages/products/AMA220.jpg ) once I finish this first little test grow which you can check out under flowering pix forum NEW CAMERA - unknown bagseed. As for cooling i just have it in front of my air condition (window unit) works fine as far as i know I have the light about 10 inches from the plant.

1000w are the ticket ive run both mh and hps. ive started using several 600w hps for my veg room but cant beat 2000w in the flower room

i am brand new... but i did buy a 1000 watter hps with a convertion mh bulb , a nice dehumidifyer , some fans all plants are now in 5 gallon pots .... Ive made every mistake too..but this is only the beginning

i just purchased a 1kw set up and will be switching from CFL's. be my third grow and i hope to see a world of difference! it has a cool tube but i am still worried heat will be an issue in my space. any ideas for an inexpensive way to keep temp. in range? other than just fans?

1kw'ers are no joke when it comes to heat, you will need to have 6'' ducting before the cooltube to intake air from outside the growroom and through the cooltube, more 6'' ducting after the cooltube and a 6'' 449cfm vortex inline fan to exhaust hot air from the light out of the growroom. Another osciliating fan in the room to circulate air is a must. If the money is available a second vortex sucking through a carbon filter is good to control odor.

how small can your space be using a 1k without wasting watts

1000watt lights produce more resin and biggerbuds IMO, Ive done a few plants under a 250watt halide that produced almost a QP of bud....
I still wouldnt give up my 1000 watters
