That's tha spirit! Let's try to help eachother, not try to decide who's methods are better. We all have our own and that's what I love about growers, hanging out with growers and talking with other growres such as yourself on these cannaboards. Learn Learn Learn Learn Learn. My brain is a sponge, man, and I can tell yours is, as well.

Oh and don't worry about olddirtybastage, I mean oldpeculiar, that's my brother from another. He means well. LOL Straight-shooter, he is. :kissass:

Peace my brother and grow hard and thanks for tha compliments I already gave you k+ earlier,
Nandro :sasmokin:

Straight coco with perlite is best, IMO. Without, you have to be careful with waterings/feedings, but the end results in a dankier aromas/tastes. Especially after a normal flush. Mainly due to you'll be feeding it less and watering it less. At least that's what I think, lol, it worked for me, but I suggest cutting coco with perlite or another drainage material of choice and do it to it!!

Peace,

I run 100% Coco coir, nothing else at all, I break up the brick using 3 gallons of water and pot up...I have run it with hydroton rocks in there for filler, I have run it with a perlite mix and now the strait coco...no difference at all in my setup.

I run it in 5.25" square pots on a 3x3 ebb & flow table with an organic nute regime of Pure Blend grow and bloom, Liquid Karma, Cal-Mag, Hygrozyme, and molasses right now.. I may kick in a little bloom booster like Hydroplex or Topmax at some point.

I flood twice a day when lights on for 15 or so minutes, that's it...it drains quickly and retains moisture perfectly

Contrary to what you might think, Coco actually seems to work way better IMO all by itself, no pre-amendments at all. Treat it like a stand alone media for hydro and not as a component of a soil mix...it's more like Ready Gro or Rockwool than dirt, it's inert.

Here is a couple Sour Mist cutting that I have been playing with

I will put a few more pics up in a bit

Here are some Legends Ultimate Indica clones from the TRC that were at exactly 21 days from a cutting to these pictures. I mean bare cut off the plant on Jan.1 dipped in Olivias and put in rapid rooters on the 2nd, and look at them here.

Super vigor baby!!!

Here are some of Reeferman's Kodiak Gold at the same 3 weeks from cuts. These were little two leave cuts when I started them in rapid rooters.

Crazy, crazy growth rate, almost unbelievable but I am watching it with my own eyes.

Wow this kind of blows my mind..

until this website Ive never heard of anyone using coir with nothing else.. but you folks are running some sort of hydro-like systems or do you hand water?

I would imagine that coir + perlite would work with any regular type of tea? RO water + castings + alaska fish ferts + Maxi crop + guanos + big bloom + molasses + FF POM.. any combo of the usual tea ingredients, measured out to whatever you need it for (grow, bloom, fungi, bacteria, etc)...

I would think that using Fox Farms or Earth Juice or any other liquid fert would work too? Just might need a little tweaking on amounts?? Im not sure though.. I am having good success with my layers/spikes method...I enjoy adding just water.. its easy.

Here is a Kushy Fruit clone that I also got on Jan.1 but this one was already rooted so it had a head start on the others.. it quadrupled in size in 3 weeks.

Rapid rooters work great for clones with a little Clonex or Olivias and your off.

Seeds, I go strait into the coco after sprouting in paper towel, no rooters or nothing. I will try it with cutting here real soon.

I am still tweakin it all a little but when I get it dialed in it will be something.

5-7 days maybe as long as 10 days on some.

LUI was like 5 days, Trainwreck is like 5 or 6 days, but all of it is right there in that range.

100% Coco.....Pretty ridiculous huh????

Hey texas kid, I not think you meant using ebb and flow/hydroponic type growing. I can see it being good for hydro type systems in 100%.

I grow in pots, hand water like a potted plant.. I use it as soil.

If I were to use 100% coco without anything added to it with my growing style it would not work, as I would very very quickly run out of nutrients!! hehe.

There's no way around it, stand-alone coco/non-ammended coco in hand-fed systems are just as successful, if not MORE [when fed to waste].

Sup TK my big bro:wave:
Peace,
Nandro :sasmokin:

Hell, I'm going BACK to containers, hand-watering/feeding to waste in 100% coco after these DWCs. Profit Disks & croutons...mmmmm....I can't wait. :D Oh yeah, 100% Organic, too!

Why?

If you use it like dirt, water it like dirt with nutrient rich teas or whatever. The media (coco) will soak up and retain nutes just like soil you just don't amend with other soil additives in the beginning and feed it just the same with whatever nute regime you use. Coco is ph neutral as well so your better off, in that regard, than soil from the get.

Your style of grow is perfect for 100% coco, trust me, I know many doing it now and having stellar results.
