2008, a time for a change, but who will it be, who do we all vote for?!?!

We all know that many changes are abound with the election of a new president, of course the end to one horrific war, but with that the main focus, many Americans are overlooking the war that has been going on for over 75 years, the War On Drugs. I am starting to wonder if it is possible for a presidential candidate to stop this war. Of course they all make promises, and most do not even address the issue. One guy I came across, Dennis Kucinich, does address the issue, in a positive light. At least from what it appears. We are all aware of what presidential candidates will do to get elected. Take a look:

http://kucinich.us/issues/drugwar.php

My question to you guys is who is the best man. For me, the biggest issue is the Drug War. Honestly, if somebody would promise to legalize pot at the expense of staying in Iraq, he would get my vote (and I am a soldier too..). I don't think voting Libertarian again will make any difference and would be another wasted vote, so I am curious as to where I should place my vote.....

What do you think?

wont happen. best you could even begin to fathom is a federal mandate on medicinal marijuana. even thats pushing it considering the political suction pharmaceutical companies have.

Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul are both dream canidates for MJ legalization, but they'll never get nominated.

Hillary or Barack

Rudy or John

Hillary doesn't speak much on the drug war. She could maybe carry the South, where Obama probably can't. I feel okay about voting for a woman but is it just going to be more of the same? Obama at least inhaled but is a big question mark.

Both the republicans seem like weasels. McCain jokes about bombing Iran and tells his critics to 'get a life'. What we don't need is another dumb president who shoots from the hip. Rudy all I've heard is he says if you vote democrat you can expect another 9/11. That's a funny thing for the mayor on watch during 9/11 to say, I think.

So I'm predicting just more of the same and no real change. The best canadates won't even make the ballot.

I think that a very very sick game is being played called 'total pyscopath wins.' (Dear little Hillary being the leader at this dumbed down stupidity game).

CHEK this out though....

http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/research/hadleycentre/index.html

and this also (the bit that was dropped from the IPCC report used by the Met Office)...

http://books.guardian.co.uk/departments/scienceandnature/story/0,,2063401,00.html

We've already experienced a 1-2% increase worldwide apparently, with some areas like the sub arctic (Alaska etc) experiencing much more than this.

Its more or less out of control already - as in a positive feedback process happening already.

This is absolutly DEADLY SERIOUS. Its very very probably going to be the hottest CO2 type warming event in the planets history. Life will become impossible apart from the poles - and, no doubt, the sick scum in power already have an eye on that escape for the selected few. Bad luck, thats not the score pedo scum.

I would suggest an end to colonialistic (essentially) adventures overseas, (please note Hillary), the Al Qa'ida problem is merely a reaction to...to a very very long history of rascist abuse by the USA KKK regime and many others...and alternatively....a 'looking within'...why is it that the west has caused this nightmare for the planet, for the real people who live in balance with Mother Earth?

These are your options:

1/ Live in balance with the Sacred Mother Earth, i.e. (in effect for this respect to manifest) a purification of the mace program pedoabusevirus from the people thus revealing new and auspicious consciousness and reality. (western reality applicable)

or else...

2/ There will be a total material/physical purification of the scumabusevirus from the planet.

Terror threat?

GO SUE THE CREATOR

Oh I almost forgot - option 1 might not be available to 'you' - 'your' (western) Karma might well be fucked, because the western type reality/consciousness is a math function of ritual child abuse. In fact to be totally honest I take a hardline view....I'm going to see you people in hell.

Bill Richardson is a very promising choice. He helped with the legalization of medical cannabis in New Mexico and has a very proven track record on top of being a successful governor of NM. Ron Paul would be another good choice.

Agree that we should stay on topic :)

Agree that the people that would go for real changes to the "war on drugs" are dream candidates.

Richardson is the best shot at someone sympathetic to medical, and his stance on it is moderate enough to be accepted nationally. Above that, in my opinion he is the most experienced, qualified Dem in the bunch, just based on qualifications, and if you want a "first" he'd be the first hispanic. I disagree with him on some other important issues, of course, but that's for another thread ;)

I actually don't think McCain's that bad in many ways, except for his stance on the war on drugs is dissapointing and just plain scary.

Voting for an American president is like exercising your right to pick the least maggot infested fish head from a bucket of chum

McCain is way too military minded to be president and if he does become our president, i fear for the state of our country in foreign affairs. he is a great politician and his input on the hill is needed but not as a decision maker.

btw, Richardson is only half-hispanic. his plan for health care is the only democrat plan that makes any sense at all as well as his strategy for iraq. He truly believe in diplomacy with the force to back it up. With his experience in negotiations, he would be the man to get us out of iraq and keep that region stable at the same time.

I'll be sending my paperwork off tomorrow to change my voter's registration from (I) to either R or D, so that I can vote in the primaries.

Now I just have to decide who has a better shot at getting their parties nomination, Ron Paul or Richardson.

No brainer....Paul doesn't have a shot and Richardson has a little one, and I wouldn't count him out as a VP runningmate for Clinton or Obama. Ron Paul is the Dennis Kucinich of the Reps....and God bless both of em for being independant thinkers and voters.

I think the views that Richardson expressed in the recent debate (all troops out now) may appeal to enough Democratic voters, but would hurt him in a general election. The guy's got a lotta substance though. I wish the mainstream media and people with big wallets would give him the time of day.

if he explains his reasoning well for his iraq strategy, it would appeal to a lot more people than just democrats. im not a democrat and i like him a lot. having him as VP wouldnt be all that bad either. would give him more exposure incase he wanted to run again. if Obama was smart, he would snag him as a running mate cause that would draw more voters to him. Clinton is a losing ticket so he would be makin a mistake goin with her. guess we will see.

Ron Paul is kicking major ass in online polls after the republican debate. The ABC online poll has him with 3 times as many votes as the other canidates. You'll also see major debates dropping Ron Paul and Mike Gravel from the debates, but we as citizens can keep them in the race regardless of the crap the media tries to hand us.

Paul V Gravel is what we should shoot for.

Technically, your votes are not wasted in one sense if you vote Libertarian (or any other minority party). Every vote received makes your candidate a strong candidate in the next election.

To bad with our horrible two-party system and 4 year elections the chance of getting a third party candidate in office any time soon is slim to none. Therefore it is wise to choose the lesser evil and hope that some day our nation can find a way to even the playing ground.
