before you start slinging mud please check your facts, the real deal snowcap is some of the better herbs out there and is super consistant.

stay loose

Thank you HH! SnowCap is some great meds, I love that stuff. Lets get a SnowCap thread going lol!

I'm doing a side by side test grow of GDP for the BPG and another varified GDP I got from a source much further north. We will see if the BPG cutting is legit.

Hi schmokin,

I have a few clones of Bay Area Purples, and I'm not sure which is which.

I have 2 different Purple Erkles. One from NorCal, and one from BPG. The one from BPG is not big enough to identify very well yet, but it does not grow like the Granddaddy I have, so it's surely something different... It also looks slightly different from my NorCal Erkle clone.. so the BPG erkle may be it's own thing, or else my NorCal Erkle may not be Erkle.

Here's the NorCal Erkle:

The NorCal Erkle could be Granddaddy, but the verdict is still out on that.

I also purchased 3 clones from BPG at two separate occasions of Granddaddy Purple, all 3 clones are the same. So, whatever it is they sell at BPG as GDP could very well be the Real GDP.

Here's my Granddaddy Purple from BPG, 7 weeks veg in 2 gallon organic mix. Growth exploded after about week 3, took a long time to get going!

and one pic of the Same GDP while young:

I am very curious to have these strains verified and identified, I am eagerly searching for the Real Ken's Granddaddy Purple..! The NorCal Erkle looks more like Humboldt Hippy's Granddaddy, which might mean it is in fact a Granddaddy... either that or Humboldt Hippy has the same misinformation.

Humboldt Hippy's Granddaddy does not look like Krowmombe's, or 1STxPURP's GDP.

Krow's and 1stXpurp's GDP looks like the GDP I have from BPG, and they claim it to be the real deal, heavy yields of purples with no extra slow veg time. 1lb+ per 600w is what krow achieves with his GDP.

It seems to me that Humboldt's GDP may be Erkle, or else another version of GDP/purps/mendo purps. WHO KNOWS??
so confusing

The Urkle looks legit so far with those out-stretched fans and compact bushy structure. Your gdp looks like the one i threw out but your leaves aren't as curled down like mines were. Same waxy look and color on the leaves, same growth structure and more than likely has the same slow growth.

For the record Gdp is 'supposed' to look almost the same as Urkle in veg and early flower. About 3 weeks in you should notice the difference in growth. So far the clone HH is showing is looking the closest to what i've been told - not to say im verifying his cut, i've never grown or smoked it. Also to me that 'Kens' clone that they have over at the advanced forums looks more like NWGREENY's God's Gift clone to my eyes...

Good luck with your search

Fake?

How's this for fake

Don't be jealous cuz yer gettin jerked around by some fucktacular clubs...

that was slightly overboard and defensive. Infact I never said you have a fake.
Now that you are here and in full alert defensive mode, maybe you can help explain the differences between the multiple GDP pictures on this forum?

Your GDP pictures in veg look pretty damn close to my Erkle pictures in veg. I don't see the bright waxy green on your plants that I do see in the GDP I/others have. But like I said, (if you read) I may not have the GDP I seek.

any clarifications (without hotsauce plz) would be rad.

Anybody got pictures of GDP outdoors. What kind of yield outdoors... how late does it get done?

Whats up Babbabud

sha had some pics of grandaddy od finishing up.

She is a fucking monster the branching pattern is like the urkle (extremly stacked up nodes) but with better spacing due to the big bud influence... really probably one of the better outdoor strains to come around out of the area in a while imho.

Neptune

The waxy shit you've got is reported to just be soma's lav which is still dank just not what im running as grandaddy purple.

the reason why my grandaddy cut and your urkle cut look so similar is because the grandaddy was created to fix urkles problems, slow veg, difficult to coax a stretch, smallerish nugs...imho they did a good job of fixing the problems and it is apparent in a dialed in setup.

the grandaddy has just better spacing and grows with a bit more vigor than the urkle but not much with a good 10 weeks of veg time its possible to do 8 plants per light where with urkle to do 9 per it takes 12-16 weeks to run the low numbers depending on what size cut you start with.

another note is that the bigger cut you take the faster it will take off and start growing upwards. lately we've been having success with 7-8" in the 50 per tray oasis cubes with liquid karma and fossil fuel foliar'd with nitrozime and dipped in clonex gel they take off WAY fuckign faster than a smaller cut with the same rootmass. once the roots take hold in the pot they start to grow an inch every 2-3 days under my 4 light T5 setup

it(gdp) was probably selected to be able to pass as urkle but somehow the grandaddy name stuck and it became its own thing which is fine by me either way i have the urkle and grandaddy grow them both and love them both but if i had a choice to do one or the other i would do grandaddy just because it is a bit easier for me to grow.

Stunning pictures, thats what I like to see :)

In any case, I will grow out the Granddaddy Purple that I have (from the clubs) and see what she's all about. Happy to keep updates here as well. I just took 40 clones, they are rooting as we speak. I'll be replicating Krowmombe's grows, as he seems to have a failsafe, low plant count, rockwool ebb & flow/drip system that yields well. Cubes on Slabs!

The Erkle I have then is the real deal, I've decided to lay her to rest as I do not have the time for a 12-16 week cycle. 10 weeks is as long as I can go, veg through flower. However, the Erkle is some of the best bud I have smoked in 2006, right up there with Trainwreck and other elites. It's the flavor flav that I love in Erkle!! Perhaps I will do some crossing with her and find my own Erkle hybrid winner. I've got some great mexican sativa pollen ^_^

if i had the real urkle and the fake grandaddy i would run the real urkle

you can do really well with 16 per light and a good 9-10 weeks of veg time with good pruning and keeping everything else dialed in

last time i ran the urkle i pulled a little more than 1.5 with only 12 plants..and they had 8 weeks of veg and no time to get used to the new pots, tp'd and flipped which is something i try to avoid doing... so the #s are possible as long as your room is dialed in

Id rather go with the urkle as well if there was an option. People dont like the BC quality that Grand daddy has, it reminds me of BC that is purple with a non existent high. There is much better purple strains this one is probably the weakest. Imho

sorry man but if you put a grandaddy piece and an urkle piece next to eachother it is almost impossible to tell the difference only the size / growth are different other than that its just like urkle which doesnt have a very long lasting high either but both are moderately potent the thing is it wont knock you out but its very medicating..happily retarded.

not really, considering that the leaf structur like above is a much darker purple consistently where the urkle I get has a lot more green in it. And the flavor of the urkle is much better. GDP has no flavor and is always overpriced. Maybe you cant tell a difference but to me there is a rather big one. If you are growing both the strains yourself it may be harder for you to tell since you have the same fertz and ph levels for both strains goin (if you are growing them) the urkle is much denser from when I have seen it. To me no strains look the same though, You are in humboldt, If I was you I wouldnt even be growiing these commecials with so many better options.

Okay man whatever you say

The Grandaddy descendes down from the Urkle and is selected to be an URKLE REPLACEMENT...

You're buying your herb and making notes on different batches from different lopps who dont know what the hell they're growing or how to grow it...

In the grand scehme of things the strains are identical side by side until the end...

Those are all Grandaddy.
