Old Skool Genetics & Diesel

Yo IC
I'm going again in pure coco-same routine as before-buckets and containers of Canna Coco sitting in trays of expanded clay balls.
Nutes and additives:
Canna-Coco A&B
BioBizz-Rootjuice
Hygrozyme
General Hydroponics-Ripen
Nitrozyme
Halo (harpin protein)
Growth Technology-Spidermite Control
Clonex&H2O2 (for cuttings in rockwool)
Phosphoric Acid81% (phdown)

.........not all at once :muahaha:

Strains:
Bristol Black Kush x 4-an exceptionally smelly and hard hitting kush type plant that has been going around as a cutting since the early to mid 90s.

Exodus Cheese x 2-unusual skunk#1 pheno comming out of the UKunderground party scene and passed among likeminded growers since the early 90s

Madsat x 2-a superstrong chem type sat discovered in the mid 90s and nurtured as a cut by a small group of growers ever since

I've just germed a packet of Soma's NYCD-killed one by drying and the rest are doing alright in little plastic cups.

The cuts were all languishing in a makeshift box with a couple of low energy flouros while i got my shit together. One day a friend came round and told me about his terrible spidermite problems and 3 days later mites had appered on cuts in the box-i was amazed as he sat a couple of meters from the box and never touched it. 3 applications of Spidermites Control finished the borg, i also sprayed the carpets a few times and me too and they haven't come back. Yeah and my mate's banned from the growroom.

Next thing was Powdery Mildew-i'd been purposely splashing the leaves with nutes when watering-then noticed faint white patches of ?mould appearing on some lower leaves. Remedy=stop splashing and it has dissapeared.

I'm at the stage of potting the plants up out of 6" pots into 15L buckets and 25L containers, and have been advised by the soil gurus to break open the bottom of the coco before re-potting to, sort of, open up the root ball and encourage the roots to spread out from the original container shape.

They are under a 600w MH Cooltube at the moment-lights on =25c/rh40%, plan to add another 400mh in a day or two. Nutes= ec 1.5/ph 5.8-60 with Rootjuice and Hygrozyme on altermate waterings.

How you doing eddie got some old school shit kicking of there dude.cant wait to see them ladies in flower

Just read what you said about the residue left when you splashed water on your leafs, ive noticed this also when ive done it accidently. I even noticed when I did it with plain tap water, I got to thinking, and all i could put it down to was calcium in the water, I live in quite a hard water area so as the water droplets evaporate the calcium is left behind, in effect limescale.
Nice line up of genetics, think ill tag along for the ride :lurk:
Peace

thanks for the input ,BM-i live in a moderatly HW area and think i've seen a 'scale' deposit on lower leaves and assumed it to be salts from the nutes-
in this case i don't think that what i saw was such a deposit (unfortunatly i didn't photograph it) but it could have been so i'll watch out for that in future-

not much to report-pulling apart the rootball when re-potting appears to have worked as it took just 36h for the cheese roots to hit the sides of the 25L container. It's the first time that i've used Biobizz Rootjuice and clearly it works well. Nutes: ec 1.5/ph 6.0

The seedlings were watered every 3 days when they first went in the cups-now every 2 days ec1.2/ph 6.0

They are growing alright but look a little hungry

need a chain saw for the Kush right now-i haven't been able to do anything in the grow room for the past couple of days due to 'events' and the Kush plants have turned into a jungle-

here's the Cheese-well, i say cheese but the consensus on IC seems to be that the 'real' cheese bud doesn't actually smell of cheese-and as this one is as cheesy as Chris de Burgh i'm renaming it Olde Bedford to avoid controversy. Its got a sort of heritage ring to it hasn't it? Here's a couple of shots of the sarcastic pheno:

but joking aside-the plants are growing quite fast and are very branchy-but the stems are thinner than on other plants of a comparable size so they are ending up with lots small weak looking growth. I intend to prune one of them leaving a few larger branches and leave the other to see how it responds.

here's what the Madsat turns out like-this weed has got a bad rep now round my way. Even some hardened smokers won't touch it-couple of people have had heavy panic attacks-been a few other freak outs-some bad paranoia etc-it leaves inexperienced tokers tripping, heart racing and confused. Thats basically the hit-but some of us like it......

now i feel REALLY hungery C_Q-i gotta get some food!

cheers OJD-i love Nevilles Haze too.........

ok-so its screen time, i've left it a bit late as usual but no matter-just batter the branches down a bit-drop the screen on top-then fix it to the wall and use wire connected to the buckets beneath to pull the screen down flatter-

before

after

these pics show work in progress-what you can see in the final pic is not the end of it. The branches need to be re-arranged and thinned out-most of them will go up the sides of the screen and be held back to the wall by screen or string-with one or two branches being woven in and out of the flat screen to give a canopy-also the screen will have to be pulled a bit flatter

the initial bending has got to be stressfull so i stagger this process of bending and fixing over a few days-

one or two technical points on scrogging:
what often happens with me is one, or more, of the major branches gets buried deep in the canopy and consequently doesn't develop much, while other smaller shoots have out grown it and are taking up valuable light space above. This normally happens in the second and third week of 12/12 when i've been concentrating on weaving the larger branches into the screen-then it all gets a bit over grown and they end up getting lost below a forest of more weedy growth. That's bad.
One remedy is not to weave the branches into the screen. If you do they are pretty much fixed in this position and a wrong decision early on can lead to problems later when it is impossible to move them into a better position. I'm using plastic split rings to fix the branches to the screen-so now it is much easier to re arrange the branches making sure the bigger ones end up on top. Also it is easy to use these rings with one hand which helps when you can only one arm into those hard to get to places.

more screen on the wall this run as the buds that grew up around the screen last run were all over the place and thus not optimally lite. Also pic shows the ctube reflector-cut to give the right footprint for this space

finally the Cheese-this pic is after i trimmed out loads of little weedy branches. Maybe this cut needs special handling to get it to grow strong-it's not getting it from me-i dropped a metal clothes rail on it last night-

i'd like to thank the grower who gave me the new genetics this week. They are rooting in my ghetto clonner. It's a cut thats being worked on by some European seed companies atm-so it will be interesting to see what they are dealing with-

cheers IndicaS :joint:

plants got 20ml Boost Accelerator
the diesel seedlings are being fed the same nutes as the main plants-ec1.8.

here are some pics of Big Buddha Cheese (pheno6) that my bro grew-i'm getting 3 smells-a light sweet fruit on top-which goes to earthy/metallic/graphite smell -and an intense perfume. The hit is good-strong but doesn't make you feel tired or too sleepy the way heavy indicas do.
