My MH Pc Grow case

hey guys! i know there is a lot of computer case threads out there. but instead of stealing some else's thread i thought i would just make my own.
The case i used is a Antec p182. im pretty sure they stopped making them. now there is a p183. its pretty much the same case. here is a link to antec page for the case.

i am going to be using a 175watt MH, for my light. it will be in a cooltube. the cooltube was pretty easy to make. here is the link where i got my idea from.

alright well on to the pictures. i cant mount the cooltube yet. cause i have not got my bulb,socket and ballast in the mail. but hopefully with these pictures you get the idea. i will update this thread when i finally get everything in. i will be also using the scrog method for sure. enjoy!

I was gonna say...where's the bulb?
Is that the case you can lock?
How are you going to lightproof or maybe this isn't stealth?
Anyway, I think you'll have a lot of interest in your micro-grow
I can't recall seeing a 175w MH in a PC case

there is a lock on the case, but its on the front door. so pretty pointless lol i know. as for light proofing, it should not be a problem. once i put the carbon filter over the exhaust fan and also on the top vent. i put a light in there and those 2 spots were the only areas were the light came from. i am definitely going for stealth.

Check the vent link in my sig, maybe it helps with blocking the light from the cooltube ends. Have fun.

yeah or put a 90degree bend so the light isnt beaming straight out the front

Nice, it will be good to watch this develop. As others have suggested, you will need to make some changes to prevent light from screaming out of your case. Also, if you can, you might want to replace that curvy cooltube with a straight one - the larger curves can turn into hotspots. Not sure how much of a problem this will be for you, but something to consider.

What's your plan for filtration?

hey thanks for the suggestions guys. i picked up this universal carbon filter. it is made for vaccums. here is the link.

im pretty sure by the time i put it on the rear,top, and intake fan there should be no light escaping from those areas. Also it will serve as my filtration as well. then for the curvy cooltube, all the straight ones are way to long and not as big around. im not to worried about hotspots. if i can im going to see if i can cut out some mylar and mold it to the top of the cooltube. to act like a reflector.

That carbon element might work okay in veg but you're going to need a real solution in flowering as that unfortunately won't come close to getting the job done. You might want to search this forum for some more options.

hey guys! so my light still has not came in. when i looked back at the site. i noticed the ballast was on back order. lol didnt notice it but oh well. So today i decided to work on the carbon scrubber i looked around on the forums and i copied pig pens design. it was the best fit for my dimensions that i had. hopefully it works! here is the link.

Update

hey guys so i finally got some time to work on the project. the holidays was to hectic. but i just got the light mounted. im going to have to wait till everything is dryed and cured. before i move on to wiring it up. so hopefully by later tonight or by tomorrow it will be done!

Alright so i got the light hooked up and fans running. here i the best picture i could get. it does no justice for how bright it is in there lol. besides light proofing the top vent and some tiny areas on the side. she is all set. i will be throwing some ak47 clones in sometimes next week. i have had it running now for over 40 min. temps are at about 75F.

hey thanks crake! lol i forgot about me shooting my paintball gun on my account. glade you noticed! Right now im looking for something to scrog it with. Ideally i wanted 2" chicken wire, but Home Depot, Lowes, and Ace did not have it, only the 1". What are some other options? if at last resort i will just seriously make my own i guess.

Bad-ass pc case man!

Did I miss you saying what you were going to use as a medium? I always thought that a custom fitted slab of rockwool would be the way to go in a pc.

Yeah im just going to be using soil. I have done hydro and aero in the past. but for something this small i really dont feel like dealing with it. I have some fox farms ocean forest that ive had for a while now that i will be using. As for nutrients i still have a brand new bottle of tiger bloom and grow big so probably just going to see where that takes me. also add a little superthrive and usually you are set
