I've got 4 Durban poison (dutch passion) seeds left and plan on making more with those, anyone tried out more than one variety or just have a Durban story to tell? Please tell it here!

I'm primarily interested in it since its suposedly an early sativa landrace and is stable, I want somthing that will finish early though as I grow outside and that resembles a sativa in terms of the high you get off of it. I need somthing stable so I can grow outdoors from seed and produce more seed that I can grow for the next few years. So yea any sugestions on anything early that is sativa, early, stable other than durban would be awsome!

Durban is a good choice for you by the sounds of what your saying. The only thing I would suggest that you get youself at least 1 or 2 more packs of those durban to select parents from. Its an IBL so a Durban x Durban should produce a uniform population.

I grew sensi's version and was pleased with the results.

I can't say who has the best. Yet for the price, and all. I would try TFD's E. Durban. Overall good genetics. I can't say that semsi, or DP has anything bad, but from what I have seen over the past few years. I have heard more in the complaint department on the latter two. Whatever you end up deciding. I wish you the best. Maybe a goos thing to do, or idea. Is to use the search function, and see what you can come up with on the durban. Hope that helps. peace...

I've searched it a bunch of times, havent found a lot.

Problem with the early durban is that its an F1 and I need a stable seed producer.

I'm in the market for a durban as well, for a breeding project I'm interested in stability and uniformity I dunno maybe I should buy a pack or two of DP and Sensi. CC had an article that said DP was more uniform but I took it with a grain of salt coming from them.

Hey all,
I spend quite some money on seeds at Sensi's Place. ...
Most of the times I loved their end product. Except with Early Girl and Durban, this was in the early 90’s..
The Durban wasn’t stable and didn’t look like the other Durbans I have seen.

That’s only my experience.
Success with the search for The Durban.
Peace

I remember reading an article in High times or CC or something where they grew out Sensi DP side by side with Dutch Passion DP. From what I remember, DP durban was super stable, as opposed to sensi, who seemed less stable. DP says it's NEVER hybridized, and from what they could tell, it was true. Never grown it, though.

deft you could do a seed grow surprisingly easy. all you would need is about 2 45 watt flourecent's. start 4 seed's, pick one of each sex give them their own bulb and you'd make an easy hundred more. they would be ready by spring also.

Somthing may be in the works :yummy:.

And yea I read that same article, got it from OG somehow I think lol. Dutch passion is the only one I have seen that is IBL and not a cross like a lot of them are, if it dosent say 100% durban I would question if it is real durban. I may start a thread on the seed grow if and when its up and running, look out for that will be in micro or soil if its to be.

just been talking to some South African friends, all of whose parents used to grow and are from various parts of SA - the Cape, Natal, Mpumalanga, Pretoria etc.

real quality Durban Poison - genuine Durban Poison, not just any old herb from Natal, nor the better ganja from Lesotho - is very difficult to come by these days

the better Durban Poison would come as sticks or pencils, which as said have become much tougher to find over the past few years: the buds are characteristicly small, though they will produce abundant seeds if pollinated

if I was after authentic Durban Poision I would buy them from Afropips - £20 for ten - and the high from the true DP sticks is as described - very speedy

friends from SA tell me that Durban Poison enjoys very humid environments, where it will grow best

flowering time of the Afropips strain is 90 - 120 days

I have it on good authority that the best Durban Poison back in the day had a characteristic leaf shape at the top of the buds - I will have to get back to my friend for a fuller description

as I say, no connection with Jim at Afropips other than that I like his stuff, but for people who like Durban, I would snap these seeds up, since they are not even easy to obtain in their country of origin these days

cheers,

Afropips version should be the closest to what was around back in the day. and since they say flower time is 90-120 days thats were my money would go.

Ive grown African Seeds Durban Poison before. Ive grown it 2 years now. It is def. an IBL or landrace and has extreme vigor. Way more than any other strain Ive ever grown. You could put a little 1' plant into pure clay ground and barely water or fertilize it and it will grow into an enormous bush. Doesn't need much light either, the durbans in the back of the greenhouse getting the worst light are my biggest bushiest plants with the best side branching. They grow just crazy. I put one about 2' tall near a creak and came back almost 6 weeks later expecting it dead because of all the huge weeds growing around it all around 7-12' tall weeds that sting you. It was towering the other weeds around 14' tall, my biggest plant yet. Finished pretty late though, Im at about 42-43N and it finishes end of Oct. and some will go longer if you go heavy on the nitrogen too long.

The high is very up best morning herb IMO because it has no comedown and its not devastating.

IMO Afropips stock is questionable. He admitted to using Afghani from Nirvana to "breed" with, and I think the selection was made from like a single pack or something. He says he hates Blueberry and all of the DJ shorts strains because of the mutations which are unethical, but at the same time he actually used DP Blueberry in one of his crosses. Again I think the selections were made from very small populations.

Some of the more pure African stuff he has might be good, but I definitely wouldn't trust anything he has supposedly been "breeding", because he doesn't have any significant selection pool.

I am sure ngakpa will disagree with me, as Pips and he are buddies...

Hay ezra how did the Durban you grew compare to the Maroc (Female seeds) ? I know this wont help people wanting to make IBL seeds, but still wondered the diffs. Thanx :joint:

^^^ Its kind of hard to compare fairly because the growing conditions were different. (The Durban was grown in a more shaded position and in smaller pots, and slightly different nutrients) I would say the Durban has a somewhat clearer buzz to it, a bit headier. The smell is very different, I think I prefer the smell of Durban, but only slightly. Maroc produces way more resin and becomes very frosty. hope that helps

Deft, still barking up that Durban tree, eh? lol, good luck!

Time Bomb, super nice plant!

Afropi... I mean ngakpa! j/k cracks me up when peeps think that. For a while on OG peeps thought I was Rez, lol!
I didn't know jim was doing Durban now? I remember how he was supposedly taught how to breed by the guy who invented DP, but oddly never had any for sale.
Afrojim really does some questionable crosses, but I don't doubt the malawi gold is the bomb! I'm growing out his power malawi now. You just know the PPP he used was Nirvana. :badday:

heya, it's MalJi ... I mean, Ngakpa here :)

the information about genuine Durban Poison comes from several mates of mine from SA - when I told them the seeds on Afropips' site were from sticks/pencils they were pretty impressed, as for a long while the genuine quality Poison came this way, and is now very tough to find

if people like, I will pick these folks' brains for info about the origins of DP back in the day -when its peak was in SA etc., as all of them without exception came from families where it is usual for folk to have stands of quality ganja on their own land, who were and still are growing out local strains for their own enjoyment

one of these fella's mothers will bin any shit ganja that comes onto her land in the hands of her son's friends - "what is this majut shit, into the bin it goes - here have some proper Roibaard etc."

as said, one of the most conspicuous defining features of genuine DP is the small size of the buds - there are other characteristics, which as I say I will get from a particular fella whose father was something of a DP expert and post up here for those who are interested

cheers,

Ngakpa

btw. yet to find a single bad plant in any of the Afropips I have grown ... inc. the Nigerian x Nirvana Afghan, which I would challenge anyone to smoke on a blind test and notice had any "inferior" genetics in it ... has made for a great cross with Leda Uno - lemontastic

I doubt anyone who has actually taken the time to grow Afropips' strains would poor scorn on them - intense viguour, excellent yields, powerful refined highs - yes, being African sativas the sats and sat doms strecth, and should be cured well, but it is African ganja for goodness sake, what do people expect - and it pays off hunderfold to wait - an art in itself I think

yeh, I would not worry if it is Nirvana PP - the Malawi will take the upper hand anyway, and the hybridity will give big yields and increased potency ... probably only start showing its colours around days 70 - 80

I recommend making crosses with good KC specimens - awesome yields, just keep on coming - 3oz plus on my Leda x Triple Treat and still bulking out, thick central stem is bending under the weight of the immense main cola - exquisite smell on it like already cured afro ganja, and the bud production and aromas just keep on developing - wow

So highlighter good genes cost high dollars? Hope your mommy and daddy had lots of dollars or else you to are trash, right? You are judged by your own standards.

Hey tell the owner of this site to stop selling cheap nirvana seeds , if they are such trash genetics then it reflects on the seller and owner of this site badly.

Hey ezra @ least malwali jim had enough balls to tell the parentage , honestly, are you to saying that good genes come from money? So then if you weren't born into money you're trash? Yea thats what you say. Tell the owner of this site to stop selling Nirvana seeds, you don't have the balls or the juice inside.

ezra to hide the parentage would fuck up the inbreeding coeffecient of inbreeding calculations other breeders rely on.

Neither one of you two know jack shit about breeding , really! Your're losers!

We'll see if I contribute to the lab. I may be gone for this but I will not regret telling the truth!
