Thai weed from Thailand

yea maybe ,
but they will be old given its over 40 years ago they stopped that trade ,
and likely , they are not really interested or worried about it either ,
certainly not in the way we are
and if they did and on the off chance they had seed, very off chance, the seed would be so old there is little to no chance of any striking..

i did watch a youtube clip of some folks trying to hunt down folks who knew , or were there during those times , its on this forum somewhere,
they found 1 old lady who said she used to help make thai sticks , out where prem is from what i recall , or there abouts ...

Can anyone give a guess if it was one strain, one micro region, etc that grew and exported the original Thai sticks.
Did an OG Thai hold a primo cut ?
Or did it come from multiple/many different strains and regions/farmers?

Just the many facets of a landrace, there's variation based around a similar theme.
This can even occur with the same stuff grown in different areas/soils, etc
Landraces such as thai are diverse, this is a large part of their overall value especially in these days where modern cultivars are often closely related ..

You have brokers from Bangkok that supplied a lot of smugglers they would send people out and buy from farmers and bring it back where they graded it then got it ready for export and even had it loaded on ships, and then you had the syndicate.

They from what I understand operated out of the Chiang Mai, they also had a bank there and into the Golden triangle. They were American/Aussies and there may have been other plays also, but they were the two main ones.

The Thai strains back then were very alike in look taste smell high.

sorry f2f i didnt address this part of your post man ,
the herb was just thai , there is some variations ,
folks note it in smells you see described on forums etc ,

and sure many farmers were involved , and generally the stuff was grown in the north east provinces know as the Isaan region ,
which borders Laos in the north and down to cambodia in the south ...

It was a few different lines I believe based off my readings ... The first and possibly the best was the brown stick thai which was small batch grows by numerous growers which gave thai stick it's legendary reputation and created the international demand.

Then came the larger more commercial scale grows of the golden thai stick which was still good but not quite as exceptional as the original ...

Towards the end some Golden off the stick thai became available which was as good or almost as good as those original brown thai sticks.

So at least 2-3 differents types based on my readings.

I had one plant that was a “candy mango”, One that was straight Menthol, One was Earthy skunk.

plant one was the only one that was even close to lemon, sorta in the background. But mango/menthol is what i primarily found.

I just smoked 2 or 3 hits off a small joint. Kroeng Krawia from Northcoast. I got facking hammered and it is lasting a LONG time.

I knew it was good and all, but I did not remember it being this strong. Might have smoked a pocket of calyxes in the joint. Not sure. Anyways I have a clone of this going. Did I mention this is STRONG!!

Not sure if it was this pheno I just smoked or the other one really. Both are good, but initially I favored this one and have a plant of it in flower along with a clone. Pretty sure it was this one. They do not look very different.

Im trying to triangulate on The High, plant structure, smell/taste.

The high being the most important, searching for trip weed.

flavor wise, “mentholated mango” is my target.

I have some sweet and fermented fruit mango in my cambodians (kirivong via zomia).

For the thai, I like wood, mango, and menthol.

For structure… Im taking my cues from hempy and tom hill.

Finally my first official experience with Thai weed, I am in Bangkok at the moment and after walking like 13 km today and seen the vibe, it’s hard to find good priced flower.
From the 600baht per grm in the fancy smoke shops (american market strains), to the avg 300-400bht per grm in most places… and mostly indica hybrids.

I did come across a stall vendor with a low key spot, and ended up buying 3grm of flower advertised as Ghost train haze (Sativa) for 400baht that’s 15 cad$ for 3grms.
And then I saw his selection of prerolled and there it was Thai stick pre rolled for 50baht a pop (that’s incredibly cheap 2cad$) I added two to make my total 500baht or 20cad$.

So I straight up ask the guy what’s the norm or law on smoking and he said pretty much smoke up anywhere walking around or siting… unless it says no smoking allowed. Lots of places have no smoking of any kind signs and fines if one doesn’t comply (5000bht or worse if you smoke in a temple)

So I light up that Thai stick pre rolled and I’m walking and doing my tourist and the taste is so spicy on the smoke and damn I’m high as f@ck and keep walking till I notice Im walking thru the Thammasat University Tha Phra Chan… I couldn’t finish the joint I was too high and started getting paranoid as I am walking thru the food court inside the university (very cheap and good food btw).

Also lots of military personnel all over the downtown areas… I went back to the hostel after that joint lol.

Looking forward to smoking that haze and hit the night market tonight.

I also did a order from Preempave flowers, as advertised on her website she said she can deliver anywhere in Thailand so I went with 5 of her types at 10grms each so hopefully it all goes thru and I can try the real deal.

But whatever. from what I have seen, I’m thinking his stuff might be the safest besides prempevee Thai weed when it comes to pesticides and other unwanted crap in your flower. his “bio” outdoor prices are like 180 a gram I think for 10 grams.

I'm so happy for you Wolf.

Glad to hear you couldn't finish a whole joint by yourself. It would be a huge mistake if it approaches the potency of the good sticks from the old days. For me, and I may be a lightweight, three big hits held in for a good amount of time would be because I wanted to get blasted. One big hit if I was going to be around squares or needed to get stuff done. I'm referring to the brown skinny sticks. One can certainly argure the fat, golden, red string sticks were better quality because they were less edgy, cleaner. They were a little less potent. Still stronger than most all ganja of all time.

I'm on pins and needles waiting for your reports on the various Prempavee buds, and how it compares to the joint you attempted.

That’s cool tho, not every day one gets to meet a dude like Arjan, I mean I love/hate him like probably many but he is up there with all the others that’s have chipped in to the global cannabis scene and you know respects to him for building an empire but he also gets a big slap in the hand because of his take on genetics and not elevating Thai genetics and the ancestral canna Thai culture.

I payed my dues in Amsterdam when I was there I hit his coffee shop, I was sooooo excited back then (it’s was the times of strain hunters).

Good observation on that pesticide and dirty flower. I can’t help to think that PGR and other stuff is going on these bulk tourist flowers, and it looks to be mostly indoors.

After smoking the Ghost Train haze flower I got to say that pre rolled Thai was the winner, and it smoked pretty clean, wasn’t harsh and it blew my head off, like I felt my eyes sooooo red and I was slightly tripping, it totally creeped on me it was like going up an elevator of trippyness…

Now where talking If you're after seed I would go back and ask the vendor if they can get you any seed or even ask if you can get an Oz and you hopefully find seed.

It was my second day in Thailand and I’m loving it, I dreamt about this holiday the entire year while working and saving up for this trip.

Reading all you guys story about Thai sticks and the good old days, the trippy Thai weed definitely fueled my dreams to come here.

I should have asked the street vendor about his Thai stick supply and asked him for seeds but the guy didn’t have good English. I will try to see him again in the next few days before I leave Bangkok. I’m hoping to find more vendors like him around Ranong and further south In Krabi, hopefully they got some Burmese stuff floating around.

I found 2 viable looking seeds on that haze flower I got from the vendor. Let’s see what kinda pollen hit it…

Thanks for the good wishes and I hope I get the preempave flowers I put all my eggs in one basket with that order (100$ total) she got a Red Laos flower that looked insane and at 500baht for 10 grms it’s soooo worth trying to get it.

It’s stories like yours, the fuel for the quest! I sure hope to see more and more. It’s helps me that I know what to look for and I can see how for the avg tourist any flower would work.

Before I decided to buy from this street vendor I had already seen like 15 different shops and walked right out… not for me.
I knew that street vendors with probably lesser bills to pay would have cheaper prices and this guy had it. His stall was not a permanent one so maybe he moves around I’m not sure. He was the first I saw selling any Thai related product.

After thinking it thru and also texting Preempave on her WhatsApp I said YOLO let’s order. I know she way up north and I asked her to deliver to Krabi so… long shot but I have faith. She said it’s Ok to send it to the hostel and she will share the tracking number, so BIG massive respect to this lady if it goes down, hopefully my experience turns out to be a great one and this fuels more and more business to her, she deserves it.

I will be updating my findings along the way.

When reading this above, I can tell you got a good taste of it. It feels so good that another person "gets it". It's like bigfoot, it's so obvious almost all people just think I'm nuts when I talk about it. You only believe it when you actually experience it.

I don’t want to create unwanted attention to her Preempave but man I hope she realizes that she could very well become the first attemp to get DOC/AOC label for her product like that’s what I wish for her.
Thai genetics, grown on Thai soil under Thai conditions and be vertically aligned she has the momentum to create a world renowned product and thousands of people would come to her place to experience an amazing product. Just like a AOC wine in Bordeaux or a KOBE steak in Japan, or black tea from China…

I read that Zomia collective has an intern over there, I think she is at preempave farm, not sure. Hopefully good intentions behind Zomia.
