Easily one of my favourite threads, i just love the Grandoggy so much......got some friends that have our selections and it has been a while since i got such positive feedback on something so unique as what they are giving and they are only a few weeks into flower.

Thanks true! The stench from the tent is very funky. I'm really interested in seeing how pheno #3 smokes versus the others.

chopped down doggy #1, MAN it reeks... Thank goodness, no more mold. #1 gave me two wire hangers of buds. I'll be back with a report later.

edit: note to self:

#2 is mostly cloudy with maybe a tiny bit of amber
#3 is the same, no amber

So we still have some time to go!

Q... some of your buds look nice and fat, mine are on the thin side.
were yours thinner earlier on? and did yours reach a point wher they started to swell?

chopped down xmas #2 today. Really happy with the yield and buds - virtually zero popcorn, nice bud development.

I noticed on some of the lower buds the sugar leaves developed a crazy amount of trichs on the edges of the leafs, like i've seen in deep chunk.

wow i am really blazed right now. i smoked a bit of the doggy bud i chopped earlier.

observations:

cement-solid nugs. i've had solid chunky nugs before, but these buds are like they're cemented together with goo. maybe that's the greasy aspect of the gdp?

the purple tops are as purple as anything i've seen on icmag, rediculous bag appeal.

for the next run, i would do these as a sea of green perhaps, budsicles with room between them in the garden. This is because these plants behave like actual weeds you see in the grass... their fan leaves spread out and cut out the light to below, so the popcorn nugs are less impressive than on the xmases.

doggy #1 and #2 are in jars curing, at about the perfect rh, like 55-65. doggy #3 is in the tent, need to check her trichs.

i chopped xmas #2, she's in the jar breathing at about 62% rh. as krunchbubble noted, the yield on her was great, almost twice as much as the doggies.

xmas #1 is ready to chop, i've been too busy. Will do so tonight I think. she is coloring up, not dark purple like #1 but purple rainbowish, will snap pix

As far as the next run, I still have the white jones seeds to pop, i now will have room.

I have moms of all the doggies and both xmases. i need to smoke xmas #1 soon, as i have some clones of her in the flower tent.

Here's a pic of a sugar-encrusted popcorn nug. Note this sugar developed only on the lower nugs. Pretty good.

here are my final weights:

grandoggy
#1 - 35grams
#2 - 29grams
#3 - 48grams (a bit wet, 77% rh)

xmas special
#1 - 40grams (a bit on the dry side, under 50% rh)
#2 - 44grams

192 grams, 6.8 ounces, much better than i expected! retail value @250 zip $1700! It will take me a long time to smoke all of this weed. heh

thoughts:

i would not veg these plants under LEDs. LEDs keep them too squat IMO. I just put 3 doggy #3s into flower that have a totally different structure that the 1st gen, more like true's grandoggy plants.

also, the moms i have are MUCH stretchier. i can take 3-4 nice big cuts off each of them... which i probably should do!

i'm going to call doggy pheno #3 the chem pheno because it did throw nanners late into flower. I believe they are sterile as when i pick them off no poofs of pollen happen.

edit: despite being the least sexy of the doggys, #3's buds turned out to be very nice when trimmed. good purpling as well.

they came out of the calyxes at the base of the stem. i attribute this to taking pheno #3 about a week longer than the others, and its location in the scrog at the extreme back mean i couldn't check it for nanners.

very happy with the results! the herb is curing. i can say the grandoggy is strong smoke. do not smoke the doggy while driving, as if you choke on that smoke (like i did today) you will experience lightheadedness and robot feelings from the lack of oxygen.

maybe if you smoked it in a joint, but you'd have to put tobaccy or some other kind of herb because IMO that doggy weed is so resinous itd turn into a joint into a hashy goo stick

T5s veg good for me using the 6500k bulbs. I have 3 huge doggy veggers beyond ready for OD holes, they are like 3 feet and bushy, in 1.5 gal pots. I'll have to haul them to the spot in a duct-taped trash can one at a time (they REEK). Unfortunately the dang spot has huge rocks in the soil, as I found out today. Digging just one hole whipped me (I was going for 3), and I had to quit before it was done and go get a cold drink, LOL. I'm too old for this digging stuff.

I decided to put my 3 doggys under the sun in this spot. If all goes well I may get 1-3 elbows of doggy come Oct, and I hope they are as nice as yours, yes. Only bigger. Man I am looking forward to choking on some of that smoke myself. Drool.

BTW here, a zip of doggy would fetch 400 easy. Easy - but I don't sell. Come to think of it, I don't buy, neither. Ha!

REgarding the smell, something happened for the 1st time in my weed career. I was smoking some doggy/xmas in the car (I own a car, hope that doesn't give me away).

After smoking out, i was in an improved mood. A young east african lad walked by and asked for a cigarette.... gave him one, which turned into an enjoyable smoke break conversation!

Then, i went into the casino for some gambling. Sat down at a table.... about 1 minute later, an asian guy says 'anybody smell weed?' then the guy I'm sitting next to points to me and I laugh...

1st time ever i've been called out for reeking like cannabis... beware, the doggy smoke reeks!
