Which kind of sweet??????

can't say that i blame them. i've been very happy with the nutrients for pbp. my husband and i have tried many different things over the years, and since we've used these, our yield has been much greater and we generally have no major problems. the only real problem i have had was b/c of not cleaning the res on my hydrofarm 8 plant . . . . we have some gnats in the flowering room, but the yellow sticky strips seem to keep them under control . . . we've had so many problems in the past, however . . . .

If you use non-chlorinated water, put bacillus thuringienis sub. israelensis in your water and you'll be rid of those gnats for good. It's a bacteria that kills larvae. I use a product called microbe lift bmt, but there are others that are the same thing. I use it for thrips and I love it.

I get it from my local grow shop. You may be able to find it at a nursery or somewhere with lawn and garden care. The product I have is actually advertised for use in a pond for mosquito control. It kills all sorts of larvae.

yeah chlorine and chloramine... if you pour water into a spare reservoir and let sit for a day or two, those chemicals will be evaporated enough to be safe to use... or just buy RO water from the grocery store for a month while you're using the bacteria and switch back to tap after the gnats are gone

Chloramine will not go away on it's own.
If you want it gone, it needs to be filtered out.
Not all city water has chloramine, though.

if i'm using city water, however, it probably has chlorine, doesn't it?

You can use 1000MG vitamin C tablets to dissipate chlorine or chloramine in a short amount of time and it only takes one to treat quite a bit of water. I'm pretty sure it's a chelating agent, so it wont hurt your plants, but it'll make nutrients more available to them in the process.

so is bud candy as awesome as the name is? i will soon be out of sweet for my spot, so i am thinking i'll try bud candy for a few rounds and see what i think. to be honest, things came out ultra sweet (no puns intended) this time, like i poured sugar on them or something, so i can't imagine it could get much better, but I DO want to learn and improve. otherwise, there is no point in doing this . . . .

cool thread here. Been hearing stuff about bud candy myself, but I'm just not sure about using it yet. I mean, I like some sweeter bud, but it seems like that might also be a bit too much, you know?

I'll have to find some of these sweets and just try them out too, huh?

:dunno:

they do list slightly different Mg and S levels, but i agree with everything else

well the reason they list different things, is because once again, botanicare fucked up the labels(see: silica blast label).

The qt bottle of Citrus Sweet lists Mg and S differently than the Gal bottle of Citrus Sweet.

i don't know about sweet vs. bud candy
but i tried running my standby strains with and without AN's Sweet Leaf ( a while back) and noticed a markedly cranberry flavor/smell in the finished product.
so i looked at the label and, son of a gun, there's cranberry extract in there.
mmmmmhhhhhh...... coincidence?

I haven't been able to find Blackstrap Molasses here in Cali. Someone said Wal-Mart but all I can find is Grandma's. Same thing? I figure molasses is molasses yeah? I've also read reports from other Hydro growers that the addition of molasses seem to increase chances of bad microbe outbreak, making their res all funky. Some cautioned against its use while others praised it. What's the typical volume per gallon when using molasses?

I grow in Pro-Mix/Perlite/EWC Blackstrap Molasses 5ml a gallon shit is an incredible carbohydrate that the micro herd crave.

Just my 2 cents

Hey people. I also use the Honey Es. I like so far but DeF not hyrdro humboldt makes another product called honey carbs for hydro. With the ES it says only use every other week. Something like that

i like to use good old floranecter. i compared it to bud candy sidebyside and thought it was sweeter tasting. and on the labels floranecter had alot higher concentrations of malasses and pure cain sugars. it smells so good I've ben tempted to drink it.

I really like the Bud Candy stuff. It makes the plant tastes really sweet and sometimes that's just what you want.

I'm not a big fan all the time, though. Sometimes different strains are a bit too sweet for my tastes, but eh, to each their own, you know.

Sweets can certainly be fun once in a while. Though i like the natural tastes of bud too. Sometimes au natural is too yummy.
