How do you remove the water stains and like drewl stains that in the tube? I can never get that shit off and it pisses me off. The tube looks clean ass anything but when it drys you see the water/drewl stains... How do you get it off? Soap scum?

I'm starting to rethink the salt...rice will prevent the little etches in the glass that salt makes over time....i have pipes that have little marks from wear of the salt..cant be cleaned unless boiled..

rice=pain in the ass but worth it

There is no way in hell that salt will "etch" glass, far as I know at least..Salt is soft...softer than glass. Salt can't cut or scratch glass.

To test this theory, I suggest to you the following excercise:

Take a soft cleaning rag, preferably an old 100% cotton t-shirt, and use it to wipe in a circular motion over a window or other glass surface for 15 minutes, using steady pressure. That will be your "control" test.

Next, moisten the rag/t-shirt and repeat. We now know that the t-shirt is not abrasive, either wet or dry.

Now, make a "paste" of 1/4C sea salt, kosher salt, or other large-crystal salt, combined with 1-1/2C ISO. Again, repeat the 15 minute circular rubbing with firm pressure.

Compare your results and then tell me that salt is not an abrasive. :joint:

dont use anything abrasive in glassware like salt-doing that puts microscopic scratches in the surface which means that it collects more gunk and is harder to clean next time..
The easy lazy way for me is go buy a cheap bottle of white spirit, bung the joint and carb hole, and fill the gong to the top with the white spirit... dont worry its not going to hurt the glass, and it completely rinses off leaving bnothing behind no smell or taste or fumes at all.... Anyway I think its best to do it just before you go to bed, then leave it to soak overnight, or i prefer 36-48 hours but ive got another gong to use in the meantime so i can understand why it wouldnt be possible for every1. Anyway once its had a good long soak, go to the sink and pour 2/3rds of the liquid out, then swirl it round a bit and shake it about(being careful not to spill the now filthy liquid or drop ur piece obviously) the swirling and shaking should remove the thin film of tar, and loosen up any thick coatings. if its really bad , I use a toothbrush head stuck on some thick wire for any bits that need a scrub it comes away like butter with the whitre spirit soaked in it. Pour this away now and half fill the gong with hot water and swirl it all around as before, keep changing the hot water and swirling for a few times then take out the bungs and pour hot water all through it..... but no it should be clesan as the day you bought it.... Now to be sure you got rid of any spirit residue wash it with normal dish soap, and then rinse with cold water.....
