Zong cleaning discovery!! I'm sure it works for bongs too :)

Hey all, I'm not sure if anything like this has been posted before but I just made a wonderful discovery that I think needs to be shared. I recently bought a little zong (just big enoug to hold one or two ice cubes) and quickly realized that they cant be cleaned with any of the pipe cleaner round brush on a stick style things. I tried just filling it with rubbing alcohol and shaking it with little success, it took the gross dirty bong taste away for a couple days but never really got it clean. So what I did is throw a bunch of old (well cleaned hehe) aquarium rocks in with some rubbing alcohol (the 99% stuff!) and gave it a shake for a couple minutes. It was amazing, it was as clean as the day I bought it and way cleaner than my old bong that i cleaned with alcohol and above mentioned brush ever was! Hope this helps someone

Good advice for large bongs, but like most people with bubblers n such they use salt, maybe people with large bongs use rock salt?

bubblers / pipes = iso alch. + salt.
bongs = iso alch. + rice.

I use epsom salts in my bong but normal salt works fine too, just not as abbrasive. I don't know how big the aquarium rocks are but I would be worried about them being too abbrasive on the glass.

The problem I have with my "zong" (Like a zong but not in Z shape... it does more like an S.... a Song? lolll).

Anyway... I think I can manage to have Iso and Salt to go everywhere... but the problem is when I need to get the dirt liquid out... all the sticky resin stay in the "S" and I'm unable to rinse it properly with water. The resin stay on the glass until I reshake it with Iso and salt... but then again, when I get the water out... there always residue... grrr

Don't know if you have suggestion for me to clean it?

If I take a sort of long "brush" that is bendable I could remove the dirt.. but then again.. what you guys think?

But with every other bong... Iso + Salt work the best... just with this big pieces in S shape is a little bit hard to clean.

I tested my plan in a glass jar first...the rocks were not too big or abbrasive. I had never heard of using salt before, thanks I'll try that with my bubbler...the aquarium rocks were too big for that and I was thinking I would find some sand.

the problem with my bong is any time i clean it the glass just gets foggy again.... maybe i need to get a 420 cleaner or something i've been using just salt and alcohol.

I'm starting to rethink the salt...rice will prevent the little etches in the glass that salt makes over time....i have pipes that have little marks from wear of the salt..cant be cleaned unless boiled..


rice=pain in the ass but worth it

did you have some water in the bottom of the bong when you poured in the salt? if you have water in it the salt will dissolve and not work. but salt doesn't dissolve in iso that's why it works

I just want to make clear alcohol is only good on glass......it will warp and crack your acrylic.

I use SimpleGreen and a Nylon "radiator"Brush on my acrylic bonger. Works great!

I use a product called Agent Orange for the heavy duty soaking a cleaning. ISO and Rock salt is the best way to clean a tube. And if rock salt is scratching your glass. Quit buying cheap glass.

just FYI, but over time the use of abrasive salt will etch ANY glass, no matter what you paid for it.
