I'm trying some Zamaldelica as well. I'm finding it more difficult than the indicas I'm used to growing.

Gonna follow this thread and see what happens with yours.

Can you tell me some details of your environment?

Simple setup using Advanced or Pure Blend organics.
1k watt MH veg and HPS for flower.Soilless mix with peat.

If you're having problems, you should look at the type of food or how much you are using.
Sometimes people get too dependent on additives, when the plants need very little.

do you have a special technique of shedding the shell? i see they're all gone on your pics, and also the same in your panama thread.

If you put them in soil as soon as they germ, the weight and friction of the soil will normally be enough to shed the shell.
Very few come up with shells still attached if done this way.An inch or less is good and not soggy wet.

Jack and the bean stalk.

Jack and the bean stalk.

Jack climbs the bean stalk to stick his head in the clouds.
ZD 4 looks real stretchy and should take me to new heights.

Recognize anything yet?

Most have a good stretch, but some are a bit shorter.

My plans are to keep different desirable males and breed with best females.
Making a few different lines to play with.Should have lots of variety and find that trippy crazy African high.

Hello everyone.

Been busy selecting the best of 15 females. Down to the best and last 5 females.
Pulled the first ones, because of males flowers or not what I was looking for.

They are near 6 weeks now.

ZD5 has a nice smell and the best bud so far.

ZD11 is lime smelling and smells like no other.
Crazy pistil on this one.

ZD15 has a fruity smell.

First pic is ZD14 about 4 weeks in and just starting to flower.

ZD 16 is my favorite, best smelling and still in veg.
Strong fruity smell and sticky.

3 different types of males.

Have clones of all females and here are 2 clones.

I popped 6 ZD's and 6 GT's a bit back. They're all in flower as of this moment but none of them have actually started flowering. Still going through a big stretch. So not much to report.

But I did want to comment on the structure of my plants compared to yours. I got my beans from Attitude Seed Bank so I have no way of knowing the packing date or which generation I received but the picture of your 1 month old ZD's seem very uniform in structure.

Out of the 12 seeds I got 3 female ZD's, 3 female GT's, and two main structural phenos. 2 of my plants(1 ZD and 1 GT) look like yours. The leaves are big and wide but still Sativa looking. The fan leaves are huge and they have long arms that stretch way out away from the plant. The stems are green and thick. It has allot of space between internodes. Very stretchy but not thin. Just big and strong looking structure.

The 4 remaining plants have a structural pheno that's shorter. The nodes are more compact but still branchy giving a very bushy look. The leaves are thinner and darker green. It seems more sensitive to nitrogen. The leaves tend to droop a bit as well. The stems are a little thinner and have some purple. The stems are also very stiff and rigid.

I assume the larger leaf strong looking pheno is Malawi? I have no real way of knowing that. I'll bring more information when they start to show flowering traits.

Some clones of the females.

Had some very stretchy and thin flowering plants.
I liked the plants that looked more Malawi like.
The ones I have left are more Malawi looking.

The lime one ZD11 is different and I was thinking it looked more Thai or something.
The lime smell I have never encountered on any plant before. Smells just like limes and not much else.

The males I cut back a few times, because they got so big.
Have a short stocky one. A super sticky, stinky, very strong structure male, which will be the first I use.
Another that is early to flower, judging by how quickly it puts out pollen in veg. A bit more stretchy than the other 2 males.

They are all beautiful with nice smells and I expect to find something great in the end.

Out of 5 beans I popped only two survive.

The latest Zamaldelica I flower is sour pineapple, would you say the
fruit scent pheno you have is sweet or sour?

Lime scent? Seems very unusual, but desirable. What are the main trait
characteristics of the Malawi?

Real nice plant, and a great thread!

Some seed was slow to germinate and one seed germed over a week after the rest.
I always toss seeds that don't germinate into pots with other plants.
Found it a month later growing in the same pot I tossed the soil and seed into.
It was covered by about 5" of soil and took that long to come up. Was male and never saved it.
So I got 24 out of 25 to germinate. Always give your seeds the only chance they will ever have. :plant grow:

ZD5 is a sour and musky fruity smell.

ZD15 is sour fruity and a sweeter fruit smell.

ZD11 is sweet lime smelling.

Malawi vigor, solid plant structure and bud are the traits I am looking for.
ZD are mostly fruity smelling. Malawi are more woody with a bit of fruit.

I see some refer to this strain as having a carrot smell.
ZD5 is not all fruity like the rest and could be considered as carrot smelling.
I just call it spicy, earthy and musky smelling, but that is what carrots from the ground smell like.
