Your 1st thing that ruined a grow

V

Verger OG

This is indoor growing right? odd. But we are all in different climates. I never have problems with bugs. I think it helps that i live in an apartment so ground levels where the bugs reside. All I have is flies in summer. And these tiny fruit flies. They seem to made a home in one of my general potted plants.
Since I dislike critters, I feel blessed living up higher.

But for the rest I never made such errors I lost plants. heh. Knock on wood...

Good Thread here, like stoneyhucker said, its nice to see everyone is human.

I'm on my third "real" grow and just like everyone I have fuct up in my grow room. My first grow, my mistake was letting my plant grow too tall on me and got to 6ft with my 250W- really hurt yield. Second grow, I was relentless and butchering...I stressed the thing male- missed out on my yield. My third grow I planted them in too small of containers and they got rootbound, I had to transplant at 5 weeks into flower- Lets see what happens. We'll see what the next grow brings...but as long as the harvests keep coming I won't mind making the odd mistake.

TML16 - Yep, we're all human, Hit Shappens, but hitting on that peice that know where it came from and knowing each time its a little better and when you get it worked out, the genetics that are available are just amazing. Yep, here's hoping the future stays green bro.

I was scrupulous about conditions and feeding and brought a nice crop to harvest, only to get a little lazy during the curing phase...failed to burp my jars for a few days. I ended up with a big jar of Chronic covered in mold. :fsu:

I was actually lucky it only happened in one jar--still, it was a big disappointment. Last time I'll ever make that mistake.

Germed in soil that was way too "hot" & highly compacted down into the container without added sand or perlite. Sprouts never had a chance...discarded after 3 weeks then started over with new seed.

1st thing that ruined a grow for me......hmmm well everything was great till i started indoor growing ....overwatering , overfeeding, poor ventilation and temps and tap water that even the dog and cat turned their nose up at. and impatience. Over the years ive learnt, keep the plants happy , they will make the buds and never use more than 1/2 recommended feed dosage. If in doubt use water.

as for spider mites , ive been through the whole neem oil nematode thing...its all bollocks. First sign of the basterds i spray with whatever strongest insecticide is available thats recommended to use on fruit, and hit em hard. works fine, and i'd rather smoke a little insecticide than the majority of crap available commercialy in uk.

also i have the memory of a goldfish so have to relearn the odd lesson occasionaly.

Thanks everyone for keeping it going

Thanks everyone for keeping it going

Thanks everyone, lots of great tips coming from this thread. I'm learning a few things to watch out for and I hope everyone else has found at least one thing that has helped.

NPK - Preciate the reminder, a little bit o flazy can ruin a lot of hard work.
grundig - thanks for the note on the sulfur.
canine - Yep, I believe overwatering is the #1 killer to a newb in an indoor environment, let'em run dry once in a while, prevents root rot.
Bipedalhominid - Soil conditions, soil conditions, soil sonditions, yep.
minds_I - You got the soil blues to, who'd of thunk a dang weed would need so much TLC.
Aroma - Great points bro, I always use 1/2 of the recommended does, especially when they are young and tender. As for bugs, I'm gonna try the mutual of omaha way with insect eating insect and see how it goes.

Thanks everyone for adding to the pool of info. I hope this thing will help others not go through all the headaches that are being shared here.

Peace,2buds
