Hi i just started my first grow and i chose nirvana blue mystic and white rhino. I am using a 250w mh and foxfarms ocean organic. the seedlings popped out on aug 16 and started out great but after several days they turned from a nice dark green to very yellow. i havent introduced any nutrients yet and water about every 3-5 with normal water from the sink. the seedlings have shown no new growth in the last 4-5 days and have very skinny stems. the plants are 8 days old now but have their 1st sets of leaves but the 2nd sets are very skinny and yellow and arent growing. i think i may have a ph problem but im not sure how to fix it. the plants are about 2 to 2 1/2 feet from light. any help is greatly appreciated thanks!

fox farms soil has a rep for being too hot for some seedlings, organic, but still contains ferts, its getting hard to find soil that hasnt had ferts pre added

take some more fox farms soil ......flush it to leech out the ferts

then transplant your seedlings into the new flushed soil after you have allowed it to dry somewhat

To rich get them out of there into something different like some seed starter mixture or something; you have to be very careful. Fox farm is very rich and since you just got it I wou.d not flush it; would be a waste; now if the plant was much bigger then ya yo would have to flush it but right now you can get it into some different soil.

But you will have to somewhat flush the soil when you get it into your new soil because you re going to have to take some soil with the plant to the new soil because of the tiny root ball.

I always have used Miracle grow seed start mixture for every grow I did.

Never had one issue period; and for people to say MG products suck; well they do if you do not know how to use them right but for seed starter soil you can't go wrong.

Never used it before but it's seed starter and if MG works for cannabis I am sure this would.

But you will need to add a little lime to the mixture, like 1 tsp into the mixture because it's got peat moss, it has some other ph adjusting stuff like oyster shells to counter the acidicness of peat moss but still add sme lime because some people have had isssues with fox farm ocean forrest when it comes to ph.....

im an organic grower too money man. im having the same problem with one of my seedlings. it has nute burn is is yellow and small for being almost 2 weeks. though funny thing is i have two other seeds of the same kind in the same soil and they are perfectly fine.

anyway you can put you seedlings in a mix of earthworm castings and perlite or do what im gonna do and get those seed starting jiffy peat pellets.

Ya, see that what I was talking about with how strains are different from other strains.

Organics work more slowly than chemical ferts like MG, organics tend to not go over the 5 or 10 mark anything more than that and it's a chemical fert not organic.

should not take to long; if you got pics I can tell you if they will recover or not. Depends on the size of them too

i will try to get pictures up of them soon but im currently away from them for the weekend. They are about 3-4 inches tall and are working on small 2nd set.

Is a $25 soil ph tester from kmart good enough or should i go for something better?

Are they turning Brown and getting KRISPI ( Too much Nutr ) or
do the yellow on the leaf sit in the veins ( need of Magnesium ) and go brown.

It can be a lot of thing´s.
Keep updating

Peace

they are getting crispy and look like they will fall off. i got a soil ph meter but it doesnt seem to work very well. should i cut off the dying leaves and let the new ones grow or just keep them on. i will put pictures up tonight. thanks alot. no nuts have been used yet. but i have pure blend grow and bloom

The leaves will that were affected will naturally die, as long as you flushed good the plants should recover fine.

Or, since they are so small you can remove them from the mxiture and put them in seed starter mixture.
